Supplementary Report

From Innisfail, 26.5.18 – Race 4: CLASS B H’CAP – 1500M

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into an incident which occurred near the 1300m when it appeared One Sunday (App R. Shred) clipped heels and blundered. After hearing evidence from apprentice Shred, App A. Thomson, rider of Nadeem Esprit, jockey B. Swaffer, rider of Ahern, and jockey K. Stone, rider of Maroon Creek,  it was established that near the 1300m, Maroon Creek, when it appeared to be racing inside the line of the course proper running rail, shifted out slightly when being corrected and lost ground, resulting in One Sunday improving onto and clipping that runner’s heels and blundering.  Nadeem Esprit and Ahern had both improved to the outside of One Sunday, resulting in that runner being unable to shift out and avoid the heels of Maroon Creek.  As Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no further action was taken.

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons why unraced 3yo colt Sunny Sailor blundered and fell approaching the crossing on pulling up in a jump-out.  After inquiring into the incident, app A. Thomson , who rode the gelding, and her master Mr F. Wieland and hearing evidence,  it was established that Sunny Sailor had commenced to travel ungenerously on pulling up and attempted to jump the crossing, became unbalanced and lost it footing, falling and dislodging app A Thomson.
