Race 1: CENTURY CRANES BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 950 metres
 
The start of the race was delayed for the adjustment of a stirrup iron on INVINCIBLE TAMMY (N Day).
 
OUR RECIPE- Slow to begin. Inclined to over-race approaching the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-side front fetlock. Trainer R Finch was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
GINGER BEER- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Jockey A Holt was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100m.
 
STARENA- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Commenced to race ungenerously when racing in restricted room approaching the 500m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running bumping with another runner, which was also inclined to shift ground, on several occasions over the concluding stages.
 
SOLOMON- Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running, bumping with another runner on several occasions over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
DO THE HIPPY- Raced wide throughout.
 
TAWHIRI- Raced in restricted room approaching the 500m turn.
 
OUR CHIQUILLA- App. E Cass was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TELL EVERYBODY- Jockey B Thomson advised that, in her opinion, the mare appreciated the shorter journey of todays event, compared to its previous start.
 
Race 2: FGF BITUMEN BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1900 metres
 
DANZ THE MAN- App. E Cass was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR143 for being unable to claim any of her allowance. After being marginally slow away was buffeted between runners. Failed to maintain contact with the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Young was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again  being permitted to start in a race.
 
BRILLIANT MIND- Became awkward for a short distance approaching the 1400m. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
TUTELAGE- Bumped on the hindquarters by another runner approaching the 1600m and became unbalanced. Inclined to over-race in the middle stages. Raced awkwardly rounding the home turn bumping with another runner passing the 300m and commenced to lay in under pressure down the running bumping with that runner again on several further occasions.
 
ARMS RACE- Bumped by another runner on entering the home straight. Commenced to lay in under pressure down the running bumping with another runner on several occasions. Raced wide throughout.
 
POSITIVE SPIN- Shifted out soon after entering the home straight inconveniencing another runner. App A Thompson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
KINGSBRIDGE- inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out on entering the home straight.
 
IN WAVES- Jockey L Tilley advised that after being caught in a 3 wide position approaching the 1400m he attempted to urge his mount forward to improve his position but was unable to do so and consequently raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ABERRATION- Slow to begin. Became awkward when racing over the 1500m crossing.
 
Race 3: TAB Class 2 Plate 1250 metres
 
STRYKING PRINCESS-As Jockey R Wiggins was to be overweight Jockey P Romeo was substituted as the rider of the mare. Jockey Wiggins was subsequently fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR190(3).
 
AROHA TE MANA - Obliged to steady after improving onto the heels of another runner approaching the 600m. When attempting a marginal run passing the 200m bumped with DOUBLE DENHAM (W D’Avila), momentarily placing that runner into restricted room. Jockey C Whiteley advised that, in his opinion, the outside was the more favourable part of the track and when he had the option to improve and go wider when turning for home he did so. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
TECHNICIAN- Obliged to steady after improving onto the heels of another runner approaching the 900m.
 
OCTOBER STORM- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
DOUBLE DENMAN- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Momentarily placed in restricted room approaching the 200m when a runner to its inside shifted out.  Raced wide throughout.
 
CLEAR THE BILL- Slow to begin
 
HIGH BEAM- Commenced to over-race from the 800m to the 600m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running bumping with another runner passing the 200m. Raced wide throughout.
 
CAFFE ROMANO- Began awkwardly.
 
Race 4: THE PARKVIEW HOTEL Class 2 Plate 1250 metres
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed for Jockey R Wiggins, rider of 4th place getter YALANJI, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo Jockey Wiggins was satisfied with the result and Stewards declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
SOLDIERS- Began awkwardly. Raced wide the majority.
 
FRED’S GIFT- Slow to begin. Obliged to restrain when a runner to its outside shifted in approaching the 950m. Jockey J Bayliss will be interviewed in regard to his use of the whip.
 
SUJANI- Obliged to restrain when a runner to its outside shifted in approaching the 950m.
 
FIRERISE- Shifted in approaching the 950m causing another runner to be restrained. Jockey W D’Avila was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SHE’S NIC’N OFF- After being fractious when moving onto the track made contact with a mounting yard gate post. Subsequently, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
 
LANSALA- Slow to begin.
 
CADENCE - Raced wide the majority.
 
MISPRINT- Raced wide the majority.
 
Stewards inquired into the reasons why URBAN MYTH (G Kliese) was checked passing the 950m. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing evidence from the riders involved it was ascertained that approaching the 950m SET TO SIZZLE (App E Cass) shifted out around the heels of another runner when, simultaneously, FIRERISE (W D’Avila) shifted in placing URBAN MYTH in restricted room causing it to be checked. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any individual rider was responsible for the incident no further action was taken.
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS DAINTREE 3YO GUINEAS QTIS Handicap 1250 metres
 
TENNESSEE BOY- Improved onto the heels of another runner leaving the 900m having to be steadied and shift out. Jockey W D’Avila dropped his whip passing the 150m.
 
MAGIC IN ME- Began awkwardly and commenced to race ungenerously in the early stages.
 
NORTHERN GREAT- Raced wide throughout.
 
TWURKENITUP- Became awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner passing the 800m. Clipped heels and blundered passing the 400m. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G Horner was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings competitiveness at TAB venues.
 
CLEVER HUNTER- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
Stewards inquired into the reason TWURKENITUP (App M Potgieter) blundered passing the 400m. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing evidence from the riders involved it was ascertained that TWURKENITUP, which was commencing to tire noticeably and lay out, shifted out at that point. Simultaneously, CLEVER HUNTER (App C Bayliss) shifted in marginally. Consequently, TWURKENITUP clipped the heels of that runner and blundered. Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was largely attributable to the racing manners of TWURKENITUP and therefore no further action was taken. Nonetheless, both riders were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. Class 6 Plate 1250 metres
 
Due to a clerical error in the ballot order for this race, SUNNY SAILOR was placed 22nd in order of entry when the gelding should have been placed equal 9th. After being advised by Racing Queensland Handicapping department of the error, Stewards acting under the provisions of AR20(b) approved the amendment of the ballot order prior to final acceptances.
 
DEIGO BAY- Inconvenienced and obliged to steady off the heels of another runner passing the 950m and there after commenced to over-race and shifted wider taking another runner wider on the track.
 
NO EFFORT NEEDED- Restrained and commenced to lay in when crossed by another runner approaching the 950m.
 
EYEBEA DANSER- Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Forced wider by another runner passing the 950m. Hung out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
THE GROOM- Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
DUNATUN- Over-raced for a short distance passing the 1000m.
 
SPARKLINIG STAR- Obliged to steady and shift in to avoid the heels of another runner on entering the home straight.
 
DEIGO BAY- Pulled up shortly after the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Jockey S Sheargold advised Stewards that when rounding the home turn the gelding became awkward in its action, however, on being steadied slightly and entering the home straight commenced to take up the bit and resumed its normal action. Jockey Sheargold added that when commencing to pull up after the winning post the gelding stopped quickly and again became awkward in its action. 
 
Race 7: U DON'T NEED A NEW ROOF RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1500 metres
 
REAGAN- Was declared a late scratching at 3:29pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3:29pm:

Trainer S Massingham was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate before being permitted to race again.
 
CANDY GIRL-Jockey C Whiteley, who was dually engaged due to a misunderstanding, was replaced by A Sewell as the rider of the mare.
 
NATURAL PREDATOR- Brushed the inside running rail and became momentarily awkward when passing the 950m.
 
ROTH’N’BELL- Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages and improved onto heels approaching the 500m having to be steadied and shift wider. Bumped with another runner passing the 300m.
 
NEWSTEAD- Slow to begin.
 
RED PHANTOM- Stood flat footed. Trainer E Sewell was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Carried wider by another runner and became awkwardly placed near the outside running rail having to be steadied.
 
CANDY GIRL- Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was unable to obtain clear running until a point near the 100m.
 
SUNNY SAILOR- Laid out rounding the home turn taking another runner wider on the track. Trainer L Donovan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Raced wide throughout.
 
TUNNEL RAT- bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
MAQUEREAU- Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 8: BABINDA ELECTRICS CAIRNS NEWMARKET 1400 metres
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON- Finished tailed off. Raced wide the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have the thumps. Trainer J McConachy advised it was now the intention of connections to retire the gelding.
 
LANGHRO- Over-raced for some distance passing the 1000m. Inclined to lay out under pressure passing the 250m. Raced wide throughout.
 
TAMBOS HEART- Raced wide throughout.
 
THE HARROVIAN- Began awkwardly. Restrained when bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Had to be eased out around heels near the 900m. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
BULLION WOLF- Obliged to alter course to obtain clear running passing the 200m. Raced wide the majority.
 
BREAK MY STRIDE- Shifted out soon after the start bumping with another runner.
 
DRUMBEATS CHOICE- Restrained soon after jumping to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
CEDARWOOD- Raced wide the majority.
 
Race 9:RED BERET HOTEL CAIRNS CUP 2100 metres
 
NORTH AFRIKA-Stewards were advised by Trainer J Wehlow that the gelding was scratched due to a stone bruise sustained to the off fore hoof. Though the gelding was scratched prior to the advertised scratching time, Stewards advised Trainer Wehlow the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
TUNERO- Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ART ATTACK- When racing in a 3 wide position  passing the 1500m was being obliged to steady off heels and shifted wider in an effort to improve in order to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
BUXTON- Raced in restricted room, having to be steadied, from the 700-500m.
 
WE JUST LOVE IT- When attempting a marginal run passing the 250m, was obliged to restrain when placed in restricted room.
 
UNBIASED- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running tightening runners to its inside.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE- When attempting a marginal run passing the 200m, was obliged to restrain becoming placed in restricted room.
 
BEST HOFFA- Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running tightening runners to its outside.
 
ROCCO- Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 10:AUSTRALASIAN POINT OF SALE SOLUTIONS Class 5 Handicap
 
The start was delayed when ISILMO (S Sheargold) broke through the front gates of the barriers, before being quickly restrained by a barrier attendant.
 
VAN GAAL- App. E Cass was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR143 for being unable to claim any of her allowance. Over-raced passing the 1000m.
 
CROCODILE SHOES- Shifted wider passing the 800m in an effort to improve racing wide from that point.
 
TOFF ROCKS- Late scratching
 
ISILMO- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after breaking through the front gates of the barriers. Buffeted between runners after being marginally slow to begin.
 
ARTHUR PORRIT- Commenced to lose ground passing the 500m and finished tailed off. Connections advised Stewards of their intention to now retire the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer P Rowe was advised that should circumstances change the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
FOX EFFECT- Raced wide throughout.
