GENERAL
Due to the abandonment of the Ballina (NSW) meeting today all race times were revised as below:
R1 @ 1.47pm, R2 @ 2.27pm, R3 @ 3.04pm, R4 @ 3.42pm, R5 @ 4.17pm, R6 @ 4.57pm, R7 @ 5.28pm.
As jockey S. Wilson was unable to ride at today’s meeting rider replacements were made as per steward’s summary.
Race 1: STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
PRIME RULER – Bumped on jumping.
CANADIAN ROCKIES – Shifted out on jumping bumping PRIME RULER. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
SHOW ME THE COIN – Shifted in on jumping bumping KOONUNGA HILL.
KOONUNGA HILL – Bumped on jumping. Shifted wider leaving the 800 meters and raced wide from that point onwards.
SERENE MELODY – Shifted out on jumping tightening DEECATH.
DEECATH – Shifted out when tightened for room on jumping, bumping SMART SPHERE.
SMART SPHERE – Bumped on jumping.
GOLD REVENGE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
JUST CALL MY NAME – Raced wide in the early stages. On returning to scale jockey R. Wiggins reported the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and in his opinion was disappointing. Stable connection, Mr B. Herne advised stewards the stable would experiment with a gear change with the addition of blinkers prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 2: GREENFIELD ENERGY QTIS Two-Years-Old and Three-Years-Old Maiden Handic 950 metres
SNAP CHAT – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Laid in near the 500 metres and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority.
VALIANT KNIGHT – Shifted in on jumping bumping RAISE DA VIIBRATION.
FORGOTTEN BOW – Slow to begin.
MARCY MAGIC – Slow to begin.
RAISE DA VIBRATION – Was bumped on jumping and shifted in brushing CLASSIC ENUFF.
CLASSIC ENUFF – Brushed on jumping. Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
EAGLE EYE STAR – Laid in near the 100 metres and was steadied.
SUNSHINES – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
RYAN’S ROULETTE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
REVOULUZ – Raced very wide without cover for the majority of the race.
WAR SINGA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small cut on its near side lip.
Race 3: ARCHERS THE STRATA PROFESSIONALS OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
TENNESSEE BOY – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ROCK SPUR – Slow into stride.
VICTORY DANCE – Slow into stride.
NOTIO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the middle stages.
SPACE TIME – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the middle stages.
SO YOU DREAM – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned into the improved performance as to it previous start trainer A. Cameron advised that he had concerns the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit and as it resents the tongue tie he added cheekers to the horses gear which he feels may have assisted. Stewards noted his explanation but nonetheless reminded Mr Cameron of his obligation to advise stewards if there should be anything that may have had any bearing on a horses performance.
BREAK MY STRIDE – Had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race and became awkward on heels and steadied near the 900 metres.
Race 4: HIGGINS COATINGS 0 - 65 Handicap 1400 metres
POETIC ATTACKS – Stewards permitted the gelding to race with front bar plates on today following advice from the farrier. This was advised through media outlets and oncourse broadcast.
VISCOSITY – Began very awkwardly, shifted in making heavy contact with STRIKE A BEAU, then tightened for room between that runner and VALIDAR. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
STRIKE A BEAU – Bumped heavily on jumping when tightened for room.
SHE’S NIC’N OFF – Restrained on jumping to take a position closer to the inside running rail from its wide draw.
TIGER CAN – Tightened for room and checked approaching the 100 metres.
MOSS THE BOSS – Tightened for room and checked approaching the 100 metres.
STATEMENT PIECE – Tightened for room and severely checked approaching the 100 metres. Rider E. Cass (FORGIATO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless under AR 131(a) in that she failed to make sufficient effort when directing her mount inwards approaching the 100 metres when not sufficiently clear of MOSS THE BOSS which was checked and shifted in tightening TIGER CAN which had to be checked, and shifted inwards tightening the running of STATEMENT PIECE which was severely checked. Ms Cass’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 Days to commence midnight 17 July 2021 and to expire midnight 31 July 2021. Stewards deemed this incident in the mid range.
FORGIATO – Shifted inwards approaching the 100 metres when not fully clear of MOSS THE BOSS which was checked and shifted in tightening TIGER CAN which had to be checked, and shifted inwards tightening the running of STATEMENT PIECE which was severely checked.
Race 5: ARCHERS BCM CAIRNS BM55 Handicap 950 metres
CUNNAMULLA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SOLOMON – Jumped outwards bumping DANGER ONE which in-turn shifted out bumping MUSICAL GIRL.
KISS ME LATER – Slow to begin.
DANGER ONE – Bumped at the start.
SUPER ROSE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Slow to begin.
MUSICAL GIRL – Bumped at the start.
CUPID'S SON – Rider L. Morrison was fined the sum of $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 8 times prior to the 100 metres which is three more times than is permitted.
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 70 2100 metres
BRILLIANT MIND – Bumped on jumping.
TUTELAGE – Shifted out on jumping bumping BRILLIANT MIND. Shifted out hampering SALESMAN near the 650 metres.
BREAKDANCE – Shifted out on jumping bumping MT PETER MISS.
SALESMAN – Shifted in near the 650 metres and bumped with TUTELAGE. Raced ungenerously for a short distance thereafter.
GALAXY GHOST – Raced ungenerously for some distance after the start.
GUANGZHOU – Shifted out under pressure near the 300 metres.
Race 7: DAVID GALLOWAY-PENNEY - CHAMPIONS IN REAL ESTATE Class 3 Handicap 1250 metres
REGAL HEART – Jumped outwards at the start bumping HIGH ADVICE.
HIGH ADVICE – Bumped on jumping.
AROHA TE MANA – Forced wider near the 950 metres when tightened for room.
FLUTTERING – Raced in restricted room near 950 metres.
DOUBLE MAJOR – Passing the 950 metres was over-racing and improved onto heels before shifting out and tightening
AROHA TE MANA which was taken wider onto the running of FLUTTERING which became awkwardly placed on that runners heels. Bumped with MISTER MAGNUSIFENT approaching the 100m.
MISTER MAGNUSIFENT – Bumped near the 100 metres.
JOHN BOOKE – Began awkwardly. Forced wider near the 950 metres.
PANTONE – Improved onto heels near the 950 metres when over-racing.
LOVE FLIES – Rider J. Felix was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100 metres which is two more times than is permitted.
