GENERAL
Due to current Covid Restrictions, the following riders were permitted to ride their respective mounts a ½ kilogram over the allotted minimum weight.
Race 2: Thirsty – S. Sheargold
Race 6: Poetic Attack – C. Whiteley
Race 8: So You Dream – G. Kliese, Helmaz – C. Whiteley, Our Chiquilla – S. Sheargold

As jockey Ms A. Thomson failed to arrive on course to fulfil her engagements, riding replacements were made as per steward’s summary. Stewards will inquire into the reasons Ms Thomson failed to arrive on course at a time and date to be fixed.

Riders R. Wiggins and M. Potgiesters were late arriving oncourse due to flight difficulties. Riding replacements for races 1 and 2 were permitted as per steward’s summary.

Race 1: LIQUID SPECIALTY BEVERAGES Maiden Plate 1250 metres

Trainer T. McGovern was fined the sum $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider for both MANDO MOON and SAUNDERS SUN by the prescribed time.

SAUNDERS SUN – As Apprentice M. Potgieter was delayed due to transportation difficulties he was replaced by S. Wilson when no other apprentice rider was available.

ALL TOO NATURAL – Bumped at the start and shifted out bumping WAR SINGA. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SWEET WILL GO – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside. Shied at the dislodged rider near the 100 metres and shifted out hampering DECATH.

WAR SINGA – Hampered at the start and lost ground.

MANDO MOON – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

SWAN CAP – Hung out rounding the 1000 metre turn inconveniencing OLD SCHOOL. Continued to lay out for the majority of the race and shifted wider under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S Massingham was advised a warning would placed on the geldings racing manners.

DEECATH – Hampered near the 100 metres.

OLD SCHOOL – Clipped the heels of SWAN CAP which hung out and blundered near the 1000 metres. Rider L. Morrison dropped her nearside reign approaching the 100 metres and when correcting caused OLD SCHOOL to shift in abruptly and become unbalanced, then shifted out dislodging rider L. Morrison. Ms Morrison was examined by the QAS officials and cleared of any injuries and was able to fulfil her remaining engagements.

MAHIS MONELLO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

It was established prior to correct weight that due to a misunderstanding stablemates MANDO MOON and SAUNDERS SUN started from incorrect adjacent barriers four and five. Stewards deemed this had no material effect on any finishing positions and declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers. This was brought to the attention of riders and the starter.

Race 2: CAIRNS ASSET LOCATIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 950 metres

JOINT FORCES – Hampered on jumping and shifted out bumping THIRSTY on the hind quarters and commenced to race ungenerously and hung out for the majority of the race shifting wider on the track. Made the 600 metre crossing awkwardly. Trainer R. Chillemi was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.

GALACTIC TREASURE – Shifted out on jumping tightening runners to its outside.

OUT SIZED – Bumped on jumping and shifted out hampering JOINT FORCES.

SHE'S ATOP PORSCHE – Forced outwards on jumping bumping CHATEAU ROYALE.

CHATEAU ROYALE – Bumped on jumping and shifted out hampering OUT SIZED.

THIRSTY – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced.

GINGER MULE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: TRAFFIC SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 950 metres

RAISE DA VIBRATION – Refused to stretch out despite the efforts of its rider after jumping and took no part in the race. Connections were advised the mare must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.

ARROGANT HEART – After being slow to begin was then hampered by SMALL REWARD which shifted out slightly when tightened for room. Shifted out under pressure near the 100 metres inconveniencing VIENNA CRUISE. Rider W. D’Avila was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort in similar circumstances.

FILLY SLATER – Shifted out on jumping tightening SMALL REWARD. Raced ungenerously when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SMALL REWARD – Tightened for room on jumping between runners.

STIFLING – Shifted in under pressure near the 100 metres inconveniencing VIENNA CRUISE. Rider M. Abe was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

VIENNA CRUISE – Tightened for room near the 100 metres and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

OUR RECIPE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MOUNT COSTA – Lost its offhind plate during in running.

Race 4: AUSTRALASIAN POINT OF SALE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 950 metres

HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly and shifted out crowding PERFECT KNOWLEDGE. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE – Buffeted between runners on jumping.

HARD YAGA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start.

STAR BANNER– Steadied off heels near the 500 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Had difficulties obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

COASTAL BOY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

LUSHAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

CUPID'S SON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RIGEL – Rider N. Day was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the winning post.

Race 5: ROSEBUD GARDENS Class 2 Handicap 1250 metres

GAELIC – Trainer J Ryan was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) in that presented that runner without its advertised gear of blinkers. Slow to begin.

HURRICANE FIGHTER (NZ) – Slow to begin.

MISTER MAGNUSIFENT – Slow to begin.

BELLEVITA – Slow to begin.

WAR GENERAL – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.

PRIME RULER – Over-raced in the middle stages.

PEONY ROSE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 6: HEDLEY HOMES BELLE OF THE DAINTREE Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 70 Hand 1500 metres

JUST JESSIE – Slow to begin.

LOVE FLIES – Slow to begin.

CANDY GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SHE'S NIC'N OFF – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: AMGROW / NUTURF BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1900 metres

CITY SMART – Connections advised that instructions would be issued for the gelding not race in a forward position should circumstances permit. Slow to begin. Unable to obtain clear running from the 400 metres until leaving the 100 metres.

FAST TRAIN – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.

AROHA TE MANA – Slow to begin.

VISCOSITY (NZ) – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

FIORELLI – Steadied from heels shortly after the start. Bumped near the 1600 metres. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

BORELLA – Shifted in approaching the 1600 metres bumping FIORELLI.

SALESMAN – Raced wide in the early stages until improving forward to race one off the fence leaving the 1400 metres.

HE'S WOW CLASS – Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post.


Race 8: GREAT BARRIER ROOF CAIRNS NEWMARKET 1400 metres

SIMPLY SPLASHING – As jockey Ms A. Thomson had earlier advised steward’s she was to be overweight, she was replaced by jockey M. Abe. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SO YOU DREAM – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly.

GREY MISSILE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

INQUIRY – Compounded leaving the 400 metres. Rider R. Wiggins advised stewards that in his opinion the gelding may have come to end of its preparation. Trainer J. Wehlow advised stewards he would discuss INQUIRY’S preparation going forward with connections and will advise stewards. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

HELMAZ – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BREAK MY STRIDE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
