Due to predicted sultry weather conditions this race meeting was conducted under the provisions of the QRIC. Caring for Racing Animals in extreme heat policy.
 
After hearing submissions from trainer T. Rowe stewards permitted the late scratching’s at 11.50am of Race 3 – Smart Sphere, Race 5 – Mamma Don’t Dance, Race 6 – Rustic Rocker.   
 
Race 1: CAIRNS CURRENCY SERVICES Maiden Handicap 1250 Metres
 
SLIPPERY SLIME – Dislodged its rider en route to the barriers. After cantering a short distance was recaptured and underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start.
Rider F. Edwards declared himself free of injury.
 
GLORIOUS EXPRESS – Bumped on jumping. Inclined to race ungenerously and laid out rounding the home turn.
 
EXCLUSIVE MO – Jumped inwards at the start bumping GLORIOUS EXPRESS.
 
MASTER ORR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

SMARTY LEE – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
DIVINE MELODY – Due to today’s sultry conditions rider W. D’Avila was permitted to ride .5kg over its allotted weight.
 
MILKY ROCKET – Due to today’s sultry conditions rider S. Pawsey was permitted to ride .5kg over its allotted weight. Restrained off heels approach the 400 metres.   
 
LET'S RUNAWAY – Was declared a late scratching at 1.41pm by order of stewards after refusing to proceed to the barriers. All monies invested on LET’S RUNAWAY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.41pm:

Race 2: TRAINING SERVICES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
CASH RAIDER – Slow to begin.
 
ARISE MY SON – Bounded in the air on jumping. Raced in restricted room leaving the 700 metres between GINGER BEER and AKILEOS which shifted out marginally when over-racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery.
 
GINGER BEER – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

AKILEOS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure  bumping COLLOMBATTI over the concluding stages.

COLLOMBATTI – Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
Race 3: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 950 Metres
 
IMPEACHER – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run between SUMMER OF GLORY and GENTLEMAN REID near the 200 metres and was restrained when both horses shifted ground when racing greenly.
 
COCHRANE – Slow to begin.
 
GENTLEMAN REID – Slow into stride. Raced greenly and placed in restricted room when over-racing near the 600 metres between SUMMER OF GLORY and KURANDA, which was racing ungenerously. Shifted in near the 200 metres when racing greenly.
 
BEAN WARRIOR – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
KURANDA – Jumped inwards at the start.
NORTHERN GIRL – Slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 500 metres.
 
REVOULUZ – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room and lost ground. Restrained from heels near the 500 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.  

SUMMER OF GLORY – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Shifted out near the 200 metres when racing greenly.  

Race 4: ELITE SECURITY PERSONNEL Class 6 Plate 950 Metres
 
FEMALE OFFICER –Delayed the start when required to be resaddled. Slow to begin.
 
HIEMAL – Made contact with the running rail entering the course proper. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to start.
 
SOLOMON – Kicked behind the barriers,was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to start.
 
DELUXE ROCKER – Slow to begin.
 
DUTCH ROCKET – Restrained shortly after the start to take a position behind the leaders.
 
HARD YAGA – Made the 800 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. Class 2 Handicap 950 Metres
 
SUPER ROSE – Slow into stride.

MISSION ROAD – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
ENDORSE – Over-raced in the middle stages.

RED PERONI – Laid in near the 200 metres brushing the running rail.

AMELIA'S RAINBOW – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 6: BKN BATTERY SPECIALTIES Class 1 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
BOUGATSA – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
COKUM GIFT – Slow to begin.
 
MY SISTER SAL – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
 
MAGNATE – Forced wider approaching the 400 metres by DUTTON BRAND which laid out.

SARANDOS – Over-raced in the early stages.

BOWTIE BETTY – Commenced to over-race for a short distance when crossed by KOHEETO near the 800 metres.
 
BORROMEO – Shifted in near the 1000 metres bumping with DUTTON ROAD which shifted out and became unbalanced and then shifted out having to be steadied from the heels of MAGNATE which shifted in and then commenced to over-race for some distance.

DUTTON BRANDED – Shifted out near the 1000 metres bumping with BORROMEO which shifted in and became unbalanced. Commenced to lay out leaving the 600 metres and shifted out approaching the 400 metres forcing MAGNATE wider.
 
KOHEETO – Raced wide early.A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. KOHEETO shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)
 
Race 7: GARY RICHES PTY LTD BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 Metres
 
OUR HOT DATE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mareto belame in both front fetlocks. Trainer M. McGuire was advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to the mare being permitted to race again. Mr McGuire further advised consideration would be given to OUR HOT DATE being retired from racing.
 
GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Slow to begin.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
THAT'S TWO SLABS – Crowded for room near the 550 metres.
 
HIGH ADVICE – Shifted in near the 550 metres crowding THAT’S TWO SLABS.
 
FAST ENUFF – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
LAPSEKI – Rider J. Stanley reported the mare was reluctant to stretch out despite his efforts in the early stages, however found the line strongly over the concluding stages.
