As the following runners had not raced for an extended period, they underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.
Fifth Position and Thatfeelsbetter.  

Race 1: HUBBARDS PAINTING MAIDEN PLATE         1500 – Metres

MR SHEFFIELD – Slow into stride.
 
WHO ASKED ZOU – Over-raced in the early stages. Compounded in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  

Race 2: K&M CAPRA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres

WONG WAY – Shifted out shortly after the start tightening runners to its outside.
 
GROVERS PREDICTION – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Tended to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
FANG IT (NZ) – Tightened for room shortly after the start and shifted out bumping IRISH MIST. Jockey C. Meehan dropped his whip near the 100 metres. 
 
IRISH MIST – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
VANCOUVER BAY – Raced keenly in the early stages and raced three wide without cover from leaving the 900 metres.
 
CALDANTE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have soreness in the near front leg. Co – Trainer T. Rowe was advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to CALDANTE trialing or racing again.
 
Race 3: ELDERS REAL ESTATE TABLELANDS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD AND FOUR-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
 
THE HONEY BADGER – Slow to begin.
 
KICKAGOAL KENNY – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FRASER'S RIDGE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
UPSTART LEGEND – When asked to explain today’s performance jockey R. Wiggins explained the mare raced flat today and failed to respond to his riding. Trainer J. Manzelmann agreed with jockey R. Wiggins assessment and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to his attention in the following days that may have had a bearing on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.    
 
Race 4: GARY RICHES BUILDERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 950 Metres

THATFEELSBETTER – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BLOOMIN' RIPPER – Blundered on jumping.

DESERT MOON – Turned its head outwards as the start was effected and lost ground.

SAVEE – Slow into stride. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride.
 
 TARGETED – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Lost its off-hind plate during running.
 
CORBUSIER – A post-race veterinary examination of CORBUSIER identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. CORBUSIER shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: i. a gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or ii. an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. AR 79(4).  
 
Race 5: LADBROKES SRM IN MULTIS OPEN HANDICAP – 950 Metres

INCHING CLOSER – Shifted out at the start bumping with ALI’S JAB. Momentarily steadied near the 500 metres when crowded for room by OVERLORD which shifted in when racing ungenerously.   
 
ALI'S JAB – Shifted in at the start bumping with INCHING CLOSER.
 
OVERLORD – Shifted in near the 500 metres when racing ungenerously crowding INCHING CLOSER. Jockey C. Meehan was advised to show more care.
 
CARESSING RUPERT – Hung out and raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 500 metres.  

Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1900 Metres

KINGS CASTLE (FR) – Jumped inwards at the start hampering NINE CARATS. Shifted in abruptly under pressure near the 100 metres having to be checked from heels.
 
NINE CARATS – Hampered at the start.
 
MELANIN (NZ) – Bounded in the air on jumping. Shifted out leaving the 200 metres inconveniencing MEDAL.
 
PICCAPEPPA – Shifted in near the 1700 metres when racing keenly crowding OXFORDSHIRE. Rider L. Leslight was advised to show greater care.
 
OXFORDSHIRE – Momentarily crowded for room near the 1700 metres by PICCAPEPPA which shifted in.
 
MERRY OLD SOUL (NZ) – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 900 metres.
 
MEDAL (NZ) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages without cover. Inconvenienced leaving the 200 metres by MELANIN which shifted out when hampered by RELEASE LE MISSILE which shifted out under pressure.   
 
RELEASE LE MISSILE – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200 metres hampering MELANIN which in turn shifted out inconveniencing MEDAL. Jockey C. Meehan was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Rider C. Meehan pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100 metres with a totality of 12 times. Jockey Meehan was fined the sum of $500.00. C. Meehan was advised of his appeal rights.     
 
PEROVIC – Raced wide in the early and middle stages with cover.
 
BRAND NEW (NZ) – Finished tailed off. Co-Trainer P. Rowe advised stewards it was evident the gelding had got its tongue over the bit during the race and may have choked down. A veterinary examination confirmed his thoughts.    
 
Race 7: MASSINGHAM RACING CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres

FOURSOMES – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAJESTIC BLAZE – Slow to begin.
 
SEVENTIES HIT – Shifted out at the start hampering runners to its outside.
 
SUPERSTITIONS – Hampered on jumping.
 
SIMPLY DIVINE – Slow into stride and hampered shortly after. Lost its off-hind plate during running.
 
ATTENTIVE – Slow into stride and hampered shortly after.
 
AMMAND – Stewards noted rider N. Thomas exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100 metres (+ two) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.


IMELDA MAYHEM (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages and restrained from heels near the 900 metres when the pace slackened.
 
PURPOSE 'N' VISION – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
