As the following runners Supeedo Gonzles and Mishani Wolf had not raced for an extended period, they underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.
RACE 1: REEF HOTEL CASINO MAIDEN HANDICAP – 950 Metres
STARMEIRA – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
SUPEEDO GONZALES – Began awkwardly and shifted out hampering GERALDINE’S WISH.
GERALDINE'S WISH – Tightened for room on jumping and shifted out bumping PARTY FOR US and lost ground.
PARTY FOR US – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping by GERALDINE’S WISH which was forced wider by SUPEEDO GONZALES. Raced greenly in the home straight and shifted out near the 200 metres and then shifted in near the 100 metres.
LICHFIELD ANGEL – Laid out rounding the home turn.
RACE 2: KENSINGTON PARK HORSE AGISTMENT BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
BLUE STEEL – Shifted in at the start bumping EAGLE WARRIOR and lost ground.
EAGLE WARRIOR – Bumped on jumping. Stewards noted rider J. Huxtable exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ three) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
MOEGREEN (NZ) – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 800 metres. Shifted in near the 400 metres inconveniencing ELSPHERE. Jockey S. Cormack was severely reprimanded and advised a greater effort would be expected from a rider of his caliber.
THE BRILL BUILDING – Raced ungenerously near the 500 metres when racing in restricted room between runners.
ELSPHERE – Shifted in when tiring when crowded for room by MOEGREEN which shifted in near the 400 metres bumping heavily with GOLDEN OVTAVIAN. Again, shifted in near the 350 metres bumping GOLDEN OCTAVIAN. Co-Trainer T. Rowe subsequently advised stewards the mare had a small laceration to the outside of its nearside hind leg.
GOLDEN OCTAVIAN – Bumped heavily near the 400 metres and again near the 350 metres and was unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CONVERTOR – Stewards noted rider A. Holt exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
RACE 3: RNR AIR- AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION CLASS 1 PLATE – 1250 Metres
OUTBID – Difficult to load delaying the start. Took charge of its rider near the 1000 metres shifting to the outside of track taking no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G. Hughes was advised the gelding must trial to stewards’ satisfaction prior to next start.
SUPERSTITIONS – Bumped on jumping.
THE HOME TEAM – Raced wide for the majority of the race without cover.
TOMYDONKA – Slow into stride.
COOL STORY – Bounded in the air on jumping and shifted in bumping SUPERSTITIONS.
RACE 4: KENFROST HOMES CLASS 1 PLATE – 1250 Metres
KHALS – Slow to begin.
SHARMAN PETE – Slow to begin.
CAPITAL LOVER – Began awkwardly and raced in restricted room shortly after the start and then over-raced for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the off front leg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance of soundness would be required prior to its next start or trial.
TIPPED OFF – Shifted in soon after the start under riding placing both CAPITAL LOVER and ABSCONDED WITNESS in restricted room for a short distance. Jockey C. Meehan was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer A. Bailey was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to its next start.
ABSCONDED WITNESS – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and then over-raced for a short distance thereafter.
JUNGLE JUICE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
THE COPS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
ATTENTIVE – When asked to explain the improved performance as to its previous run at Townsville 2 August 2025 jockey N. Thomas stated that in his opinion the mare was not comfortable on the day and may not have travelled well in transit. He further added that he felt this was a drop in grade today and further that the drop in distance was beneficial to its performance today. Trainer S. Cooper was in agreeance with Jockey Thomas’s comments. Stewards noted their comments.
RACE 5: NIESAR PAINTING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
IMPARDOO – Difficult to load. Bumped on jumping and raced ungenerously in the early stages.
TARGETED – Shifted out at the start bumping VIVENZO. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild muscle soreness in the off-side hind leg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance of soundness would be required prior to its next start or trial.
VIVENZO – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping IMPARDOO.
BOOGIE WONDERLAND – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced ungenerously near the 1000 metres making the turn awkwardly.
BETTER BE SLICK – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.
CANDLELIT – Shifted in at the start tightening runners to its inside.
BURRANEER BUOY – Tightened for room on jumping. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. When asked to explain the improved performance today trainer G. Hughes explained that after resenting the x-over nose band at its previous start the gelding trialed well with gear changes, and he was expecting a forward showing today on those bases. His explanation was noted.
ELLIE'S DREAM – Tightened for room on jumping.
NORTHERNONTAP – Stewards noted rider J. Huxtable exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ four). Jockey J. Huxtable agreed he had exceeded the number of strikes and was fined the sum of $500.00 under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
RACE 6: LADBROKES BELLE OF THE DAINTREE FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
FIND MY CALM – Delayed the start after undergoing a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild muscle soreness in both hind legs. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance of soundness would be required prior to its next start or trial.
LOWLANDS – Slow to begin. Lost its off-hind plate during running.
READ 'EM AND WEEP – Slow to begin. Had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages and restrained from heels leaving the 700 metres.
DEVIL KICK – Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early stages. Restrained off heels leaving the 900 metres and shifted wider.
LUCKY LENI – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and restrained off heels for some distance leaving the 900 metres.
HEARSAY – When asked to explain the improved performance today trainer J. Manzelmann explained that following its unlucky run at Eagle Farm 28 June 2025 the mare had not backed up from that run and the associated travelling in its recent starts. He further added he had freshened HEARSAY up from its last start which in his opinion was beneficial to the mares performance today. His explanation was noted.
Stewards will inquire into the reason PURPOSE ‘N’ VISION appeared to be checked and lost ground leaving the 600 metres.
RACE 7: BABINDA ELECTRICS LIGHTNING OPEN HANDICAP – 950 METRES
JEMELDI – Due to a misunderstanding jockey A. Buttler was unable to make the allotted weight of 55.5kg and as such was replaced by T. Leslight. Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and put its head down causing rider T. Leslight to slip over its head. T. Leslight declared himself free of injury and fulfilled his engagement. Slow to begin and then hampered by HEAD HONCHO which shifted inwards on jumping. Held up for clear running leaving the 300 metres until near the 100 metres and shifted out becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of YOUR TOO GOOD and was restrained.
HEAD HONCHO – Shifted in at the start hampering JEMLDI.
MISSILE THUNDER – Began very awkwardly and shifted in bumping RUSSIAN MINT and lost ground. Held up for clear running from leaving the 600 metres until entering the home straight.
RUSSIAN MINT – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
LADY DAMUS – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Stewards noted rider S. Cormack exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); given that he used his whip in a consecutive manner on two occasions S. Cormack was reprimanded.
BOLD HUNTER – Restrained from heels approaching the winning post.
FAMILY STAR – Raced wide with cover.
YOUR TOO GOOD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
ALI'S JAB – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 8: GREAT NORTHERN BREWEING CO. CAIRNS AMATEUR CUP BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP – 1900 METRES
FORTIFIED (NZ) – Slow to begin.
OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in when tiring near the 300 metres inconveniencing MAJOR ARTIE. Rider apprentice L. Guernier was reminded of her obligation to keep her mounts straight in similar circumstances. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
MAJOR ARTIE – Raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced when tightened for room between OLYMPIC KORCHNOI and ARMOUR FORCE near the 300 metres.
JOHN JOSEPH – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
ARMOUR FORCE – Shifted out momentarily near the 300 metres inconveniencing MAJOR ARTIE.
THE DRILLER – Shifted out under pressure near the 200 metres.
NONDISCLOSURE – Compounded over the concluding stages. When asked to explain the performance, jockey A. Butler advised that in his opinion the gelding races much better when able to lead and dictate on its own terms, which it was not able to do today. Connections advised they were disappointed with the performance today however NONDISCLOSURE had appeared to pull up well and should anything come to their attention in the near future that may have had a bearing on the performance they would advise stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
PEROVIC – Jockey C. Meehan was cautioned in relation to a celebrity gesture after the winning post.
RACE 9: ELAINE PICCONE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 950 METRES
SUPER ART – Slow to begin.
BLOOMIN' RIPPER – Slow to begin.
MR POLAR – Slow to begin.
THREEBROTHERS – Slow to begin.
CALM IS POWER – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Shifted out slightly near the 200 metres hampering NAPOLEON STRIKE which laid in.
NAPOLEON STRIKE – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Rider dropped her near side rein for a short distance near the 200 metres when inclined to lay in and was steadied from the heels of CALM IS POWER which shifted out slightly.
SOWILO SIREN – Raced wide rounding the home turn. When asked to explain the performance today jockey L. Morrison stated that whilst the gelding had been able to race close to the lead from favorable draws in recent starts she was of the opinion from its wide draw today she would have had to pressure SOWILO SIREN to much to clear runners to its inside to safely cross them and for that reason was obliged to race wide. Stewards noted her explanation.
BELLA BIANCA – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
