RACE 1:LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 950 Metres
 
OCTOPOLIS – The start was delayed significantly when the filly shifted its off-front plate in the tie up stalls after being saddled requiring farrier attention. Saddle shifted back on jumping placing rider I. Fry at a disadvantage.  
 
SMART 'N' LOUD – Delayed the start further when proved difficult to load. Trainers T & P Rowe were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. 
 
DEE THREE – Connections advised stewards it is the intention not to use the whip in a forehand manner. Began awkwardly and shifted inwards bumping PERSENFONO on the hind quarters and lost ground. 
 
PERSEFONO – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and was unbalanced.
 
BOOMING BELIEF – Made the 750 metres crossing awkwardly.
 
CARLANDO – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N. Thomas was admonished and advised to push his mount right out to the winning post.
 
RACE 2: ZARRAFFA'S COFFEE CAIRNS SHOWGROUND BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES 3, 4 & 5YO'S ONLY) – 950 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed due to the delay of the first race.
 
HEAD HONCHO – Slow to begin.
 
ARCTIC BEAR – Difficulties obtaining clear running leaving the 200 metres and shifted away from heels near the 150 metres before obtaining clear running to the outside.
 
UPSTART LEGEND – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 3: AUSTHAI MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) – 1250 Metres
 
ESSAY WINE – Jumped out at the start bumping SHE’S GOT LYRICS.      

SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in on its own accord leaving the 1000 metres bumping the inside running rail.
 
STELLAR LEGEND – Began awkwardly bumping its outside barrier gate.  Stewards noted rider M. Murphy exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
 
SWEET 'N' ELITE – Laid out for the majority of the race and was restrained from heels near the 550 metres. Trainer Ms. R. Inglis was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.     

WICKED RED SOCKS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.          
 
RADIO WAVES – Jockey A. Holt advised on returning to scale he was of the opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the race and advised the trainer likewise.
 
TUTU TOULOUSE – Lost its near hind plate during the race.
 
Due to wear and tear the track was downgraded to a heavy (8) following this race.    
 
RACE 4: TLG HAULAGE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
 
VOUCHERS - Slow to begin.
 
THE HONEY BADGER – Slow into stride.
 
MISSISSIPPI DREAM (NZ) – Raced ungenerously when being restrained in the early stages.     
MISS SHU (NZ) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. 
 
LOOMING ONE – Momentarily held up for clear running entering the home straight.  

LUCKY JIM – Had a tendency to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.  
RACE 5: KENSINGTON PARK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP – 950 Metres

IRISH GIFT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers after proving difficult to restrain during its preliminary and was cleared to start.      
 
LORD POWER – Began awkwardly.
 
THREEBROTHERS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
CHARGIN' – Lost its near fore plate during running.   

RISING RUBY – Jockey S. Kaya was reminded of his obligation in relation to the whip use prior to the 100 metres and consecutive strikes.          

RACE 6: KEVIN AND MARG CAPRA RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP – 950 Meters
 
FRAMED IT – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure near the 150 metres forcing SHERE KHAN wider.
 
ACCEPT POWER – Shifted out at the start bumping SUBSTANCE.
 
SUBSTANCE – Bumped on jumping.     
 
SUPER TWENTY THREE – Brushed by SHERE KHAN near the 150 metres which was forced wider.
 
 SHERE KHAN – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200 metres and forced wider near the 150 metres brushing with SUPER TWENTY THREE.          
 
COPPABELLA ROAD – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.

BRAVE EDDY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering heat stress and heart arrhythmia. After being quickly attended to by the veterinary surgeon BRAVE EDDY recovered well to treatment. Stewards advised trainer R. Chilllemi that the results of an ECG and Echo Cardiograph by a Veterinary Equine Specialist must be provided to the stewards prior to BRAVE EDDY racing or trialing again.            
 
RACE 7: LADBROKES POPULAR SRM OPEN HANDICAP – 950 Metres
 
SKOGAFOSS – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping IMPARDOO and lost ground.
 
IMPARDOO – Bumped on jumping.

CRYSTAL CHIEF – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.

 
 
 
 
RACE 8: DRIVE QUEENSLAND BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
 
RHEGION – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin.
 
RUSSIAN SUMMER – Shifted out at the start bumping with EXCITE CHOO.     
 
EXCITE CHOO – Bumped on jumping.  
 
MATERIALIST – Over-raced in the middle stages. 
 
YAMABUSHI – When asked to explain the performance today apprentice L. Guernier advised stewards the gelding was not comfortable with today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DESERT GRIT – Twisted its near hind plate during running.   

RACE 9: BARRIER REEF BUSINESS BROKERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
 
INNOVATES – Slow to begin.     
 
MR OREO – Held up for clear running leaving the 400 metres and was steadied.   Stewards considered a protest lodged by apprentice L. Guernier (MR OREO) which finished 3rd in the company of Mr. N. Wieland against GREY POWER (apprentice K. Swaffer being declared 2nd in the company of Mr. P. Rowe alleging interference near the 50 metres. After considering all of the evidence, the patrol video replays, the degree of interference and where the incident took place stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that it warranted a reverse of the placings and dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.       
 
GREY POWER – Shifted in abruptly near the 50 metres crowding MR OREO before being corrected. Apprentice K. Swaffer was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
ROSE OF ATHENS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Rider dropped his whip near the 400 metres.
