RACE 1:HOLMES COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP – 950 Metres
RAFF VADER – Slow into stride.
NOTTINGTON PRINCE – Shifted in at the start bumping with HAPHAZARD which shifted out.
HAPHAZARD – Shifted out at the start bumping with NOTTINGTON PRINCE which shifted in. Made the 750 metre crossing awkwardly.
RACE 2: LOOK SHARP PAINTING & DECORATING PTY LTD QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 950 Metres
STABLE INVESTMENT – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer K. Allender advised it is the intention the filly would be spelled following today’s race, however she was nonetheless advised a warning would be placed on its barrier manners.
BOOMING BELIEF – Began awkwardly and commenced to lay out making the 750 metre crossing awkwardly and became unbalanced for a short distance. Continued to race ungenerously and laid out rounding the home turn. Trainer R. Chillemi was advised a warning will be placed on BLOOMING BELIEF’S racing manners. Jockey W. D’Avila was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount right out to the finish line.
CHICA PODEROSA – Began awkwardly.
OSTUNI – Slow into stride.
LONG TALL JAMES – Eased near the 700 metres when following BOOMING BELIEF which was racing ungenerously.
BETTA WIN – Over-raced in the early stages.
RED LIGHT POWER – Over-raced in the middle stages.
NICCO NOTA FIGHTER – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
SCOTCH ROCKET – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
RACE 3: ZENBOOK MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) – 950 Metres
SUPER STEVEN – The start was delayed significantly when after being fractious in the saddling enclosure and dislodging jockey C. Jokic and then again dislodging Ms. Jokic after entering the course proper, SUPER STEVEN galloped some distance and was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 2.07pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SUPER STEVEN were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applicable to all successful bets prior to 2.07pm:
18 cents in the dollar for the win MIDDLE CHILD
11 cents in the dollar for the place of winner MIDDLE CHILD
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place ANY NEWS
21 cents in the dollar for 3rd place MONTY ROAD
Trainer Ms. M. Potiris was advised SUPER STEVEN must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Jockey Ms. C. Jokic declared herself free of any injury and declined medical attention.
VOLARE – Shifted in at the start bumping ANY NEWS.
ANY NEWS – Bumped on jumping.
MONTY ROAD – Put in an awkward stride approaching the 750 metre crossing.
WEBS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
RACE 4: MAYFAIR BUYERS AGENT OPEN HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
When asked to explain the reason why VALENKI was scratched from today’s race trainer R. Chillemi advised he had monitored the gelding progress after its previous start Cairns 9 April 2026 on a heavy (10) track and was of the opinion the longer gap between runs would be more beneficial to the horses welfare and for that reason intends racing VALENKI at Townsville 14 April 2026. His explanation was noted.
OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – Laid in shortly after the start tightening ARMOUR FORCE. Raced wide in the early stages.
ARMOUR FORCE – Tightened for room on jumping.
ACCLIMATISE – Over-raced in the early stages.
RACE 5: DENTAL ON MARTYN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
ECLIPSION – Trainer S. Massingham was reprimanded in regard to the late declaration of rider. Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
SKOGAFOSS – Slow to begin.
ATTENTIVE – Slow to begin.
GOLDEN OCTAVIAN – Over-raced in the early stages. Became momentarily unbalanced approaching the 100 metres. Jockey R. Wiggins dropped his whip near the 100 metres.
ALABAMA MOONLIGHT – Disappointed for a run approaching the 100 metres and shifted wider.
SWATOW – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
RACE 6: LADBROKES HOSTED POTS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres
ESSAY WINE – Began awkwardly and compounded over the concluding stages. When questioned, jockey S. Cormack advised the mare never travelled comfortably throughout the race. Trainer F. Wieland was at a loss and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to his attention in the near future that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Subsequently trainer F. Wieland advised ESSAY WINE was found to have a small puncture wound to its off-hind leg to which it was being treated for. Mr. Wieland was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to its next race or trial start.
GERALDINE'S WISH – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 200 metres.
TSUNAMI – Shifted in near the 900 metres when improving forward and crowded FOOLS PLAY. Apprentice jockey Ms. L. Guernier was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 100 metres placing FIRST MAN in restricted room before being corrected. Apprentice jockey Ms. L. Guernier in the company of senior rider S. Cormack was severely reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten her mount in similar circumstances.
FOOLS PLAY – Crowded for room near the 900 metres by TSUNAMI which shifted in.
PARCH – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
FIRST MAN – Restrained near the 100 metres when racing in restricted room to the inside of TSUNAMI which shifted in under pressure.
RACE 7: MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
THE HONEY BADGER – Slow to begin.
KHAMIS – Slow to begin.
KAMMERZELL HOUSE – Began awkwardly and shifted in resulting in both rider and horse making contact with the inside barrier petition.
LORD POWER – Began awkwardly.
STARMEIRA – Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
ROSE OF ATHENS – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
RACE 8: MIRUNNERS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 950 Metres
SHE'S SPEEDY – Delayed the start when became fractious in the barriers and was cast being declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 5.25pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SHE’S SPEEDY was ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applicable to all successful bets:
0 cents in the dollar for the win SWEET CANDY
23 cents in the dollar for the place of winner SWEET CANDY
16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place COPPABELLA ROAD
23 cents in the dollar for 3rd place FRAMED IT
Trainer S. Massingham was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate for SHE’S SPEEDY prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of distress and would require a veterinary clearance of fitness prior to its next race or trial.
FIVE BULLS – After being positioned in the barrier stall next to, SHE’S SPEEDY which became cast, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
TIPPED OFF – Slow to begin. Hampered near the 50 metres and shifted wider.
FRAMED IT – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
MISS MOLOKAI – Slow to begin. Improved quickly on to AIRBORNE HOTDOG’S heels near the 50 metres and shifted out hampering TIPPED OFF. Jockey S. Kaya was advised to show greater care.
ARROGANT HEART – Shifted out under pressure near the 250 metres inconveniencing TALK DIRTY which shifted out inconveniencing MR DAMAGE which was restrained. Jockey T. Chamber was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
TALK DIRTY – Inconvenienced near the 250 metres. When questioned in regard to its performance today, jockey L. Morrison advised that the gelding failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure and in her opinion was disappointing. Trainer B. Bailey agreed with Ms. Morrison assessment and advised it is the intention TALK DIRTY be sent for immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer B. Bailey was advised a veterinary clearance of fitness must be provided prior to its next race or trial start.
MR DAMAGE – Restrained near the 250 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Shifted out under pressure near the 50 metres hampering MISS MOLOKAI which improved quickly on to that runner’s heels and in turn shifted out hampering TIPPED OFF which also improved quickly and having to shift wider. Jockey N. Thomas was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
