OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – W. Glass
Stewards – Z. Lines

GENERAL
As per the Stewards Summary, late scratching’s were declared at 8.10am due to no available riders.

RACE 1 TRIBUTE TO WYANDRA RACEDAY 26 - JACK LUCAS MEMORIAL & BILL & BARBARA MAIDEN PLATE      1000 M

Prior to correct weight being declared, the trainer of the second-place getter PLEA requested to see the photo. Upon viewing the photo, Trainer C. Baker was satisfied, and correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.

PLEA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of dehydration and was treated by the on-course Veterinarian.

ELITE BLONDE – Commenced to shift wider from the 800m to the 700m.

LIBERTY CALLS - Raced wide for the majority. From the 800m onwards was inclined to hang out. When asked to comment on the performance of LIBERTY CALLS, Rider S. Sweedman, stated that the mare had a tendency to hang out throughout the event and added that it may have been attributed to its gear (tongue tie). Trainer B. Waldron was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record for hanging out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

VILLICON - A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

RACE 2 TRIBUTE TO WYANDRA RACEDAY 26 - JOHN WEBB MEMORIAL QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE        1000 M

BOSS BANDIT – Slow to begin.

KARAKAROO - Began awkwardly and Jockey T. Banks became unbalanced for a stride. Shortly after the start was bumped by ZOUCHASE (App C. Stuart) which had shifted outwards.

SOLAR SURFER – Raced wide for the majority.

TITAHI BAY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Was carried wider shortly after the start by KARAKAROO, which in turn was carried wider by ZOUCHASE (App C. Stuart). Apprentice C. Stuart was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 3 TRIBUTE TO WYANDRA RACEDAY 26 - SCHMIDT PLANT HIRE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP      1200 M

POCKET EIGHTS – Began awkwardly.

SHINE LIKE IT DOES – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey R. Tilley was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Tilley said after being slow away it took him time to have the mare settle in a 2 off position. He further added he did not think SHINE LIKE IT DOES appreciated the step down in distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower post-race recovery.

RACE 4 TRIBUTE TO WYANDRA RACEDAY 26 - FRED AHERN MURWEH STN & BARBARA PLAINS GRAZING WYANDRA RB 0 - 55 HCP          1400 M

HERE I COME (NZ) - Began awkwardly.

HOWLER – Fractious in the barriers and as a result was very awkward and slow to begin. After jumping HOWLER shifted severely inwards and rider (App C. Stuart) was visually impaired from the kickback and had to take evasive action as to not make contact with the rail.

DAZZINGTON – Slow to begin. Lost the near-fore and off-hind plate in the running.

RACE 5 TRIBUTE TO WYANDRA RACEDAY 26 - GARTH AND DON MOODY MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP  1400 M

MON PIERRE – Trainer A. Webb advised of change of tactics that it would be the intention to have the gelding settle in an off-paced position if circumstances permit. Settled in lead position. Soon after the start shifted inwards abruptly towards the inside running rail and in doing so at a point near the 1300m, inconvenienced TURNSTAR, which had to be steadied to avoid heels as a result.
