Race 1: O'SHEA'S WINDSOR HOTEL DALBY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 800M

BIMBIARRA - Made contact with the enclosure gate, underwent veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding the horse's improved performance, trainer L. Hatch stated that he had reported to stewards that subsequent to its recent disappointing performance the horse had undergone blood tests which revealed a high white cell count which was consistent with the onset of a virus. He added that since that start he had given the horse a brief spell and in that period the horse had pleased him in its work and he was confident of an improved performance today. Stewards noted the explanation.

ULTIMATE RUSH - Apprentice E. Ljung was fined $200 for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race. In considering the matter, stewards were not comfortably satisfied that Appr. Ljung’s actions had cost her mount 4th place.

AL ALMIGHTY - Made heavy contact with another runner near the 700m. Stewards inquired into the reasons for jockey N. Evans being dislodged rounding the home turn. After taking a statement from N. Evans, stewards found that his mount had dipped rounding the home turn and then had made contact with KARMA FORCE, resulting in N. Evans becoming unbalanced, losing his nearside iron and a short distance later was dislodged from that runner. As stewards were satisfied that this was a racing incident and not the error of any rider, they took no further action. N. Evans was subsequently cleared by ambulance officers to fulfil his remaining engagements.

As Stewards could not attribute blame to any rider, they deemed the fall a racing incident and took no further action. In the incident the gelding sustained a significant injury to the off shoulder and after veterinary advice was euthanized on humane grounds. Apprentice Richardson was subsequently cleared by ambulance officers to fulfil her remaining engagements.
