MISS WONDERFILLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

NATIVE – Raced awkwardly for a short distance near the 800m and was forced to steady.

FLOATING SPIRIT – Steadied when bumped by another runner near the 800m.

GOT TOO LEICA – Began awkwardly and was further hampered at the start by another runner and lost ground. Steadied when it improved on to heels near the 500m and again near the 250m.

IRIANA SAGA – Began awkwardly. Steadied when tightened for room near the 800m when ZAHA COUNTY (B. Newport) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the off hind hock. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the horse's next start.

PLAIN KITTY – Steadied when bumped by another runner near the 800m.

VAIN GODDESS – Slow into stride.

CARNCOTTON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: PARK VIEW MOTEL CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1300M

On return to scale S. Bogenhuber, the rider of ROOMS ON FIRE, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against COL 'N' LIL (E. Ljung) being declared the winner, alleging interference at the start. After hearing submissions from all parties and viewing the patrol films, stewards found that shortly after the start ROOMS ON FIRE was steadied when COL 'N' LIL shifted in. It was noted that at the same time, KING BING, which was racing to the inside of ROOMS ON FIRE, shifted out and made contact with ROOMS ON FIRE, contributing to the incident. Bearing in mind the proximity of the incident to the finish and also the contribution to the incident by KING BING, stewards could not be satisfied that the protest should be upheld and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

PROJECT COMPASSION – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 800m.

RED HOT DAZZLER – Raced wide throughout.

ROOMS ON FIRE – Bumped at the start. Bumped near the 1100m.

COL 'N' LIL – Bumped at the start and resented being restrained during the middle stages of the event and raced with its head in the air for a short distance.

LADY GUEVARA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

KING BING – Bumped near the 1100m.

Race 4: RUSSELL BEHRENS ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1000M

EXTRA SHOT – Bumped heavily by another runner in the early stages of the event on a number of occasions. Stewards questioned apprentice B. Stower in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of EXTRA SHOT. Apprentice Stower advised that the gelding failed to muster its customary early pace and as a result she was required to ride the horse along in the early stages to obtain a forward position. She added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing.

LADY SCHILLER – Steadied near the 600m when tightened for room by OUR LADY MAC (N. Nishio) which shifted in when not fully clear. N. Nishio was advised to exercise more care.

OUR LADY MAC – Bumped heavily by another runner in the early stages of the event on a number of occasions and became unbalanced.

EXCEEDINGLY FINE – Began awkwardly.

ROCKLEA RAIDER – Began awkwardly, then tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

UP AND ABLAZE – Made contact with another runner on jumping away. Held up from leaving the 300m until the early stages of the home straight.

BERNADECIO – Forced to restrain near the 650m when tightened for room by CARLSON'S FELT (T. Banks), which shifted in whilst laying in despite the efforts of its rider.

I'M NO RUBY – Raced wide throughout. Stewards questioned trainer P. Kings in relation to the seemingly improved performance of I'M NO RUBY. Mr Kings advised that at its most recent start when beaten a considerable distance, the gelding failed to perform when racing on a heavy track. Mr Kings added that its form prior to this was satisfactory and as such, when racing on a firm surface today, he was not surprised to see the horse run an improved race. Stewards noted the explanation.

MAGIC OF LOVE – Steadied from heels near the 700m whilst racing keenly.

CARLSON'S FELT – Began awkwardly and near the 800m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained.

SEAGARD – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.

MIDNIGHT BEAUTY – Forced to steady after improving on to heels near the 450m.

EXCELLENT STAR – Began awkwardly.

BOOMI DAZZLER – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight and near the 50m was forced to steady from the heels of another runner.

RITZY BELLE – The veterinary surgeon reported that the mare sustained a minor laceration to its near hind fetlock running.

STEWBALL – Hampered at the start by another runner and lost ground.

CHOSEN COURT – Clipped heels and blundered approaching the 850m when tightened between HIDDEN EDITION, which shifted in, and RITZY BELLE, which shifted out marginally when taken out by SARA'S GIFT, which itself shifted out marginally. As there were a number of contributing factors, stewards deemed it to be a racing incident.

HIDDEN EDITION – Raced ungenerously in the early stages whilst being restrained.

MISS SNOWSILL – Slow to begin.
