SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Taroom 28 December 2019-
 
Stewards adjourned an inquiry on this day with respect of Jockey N Morton’s riding of AKLAVIK in Race 6 0-50 H’Cap 1400m. Of concern to Stewards was Ms Morton’s vigour from the 800m.  After giving further consideration to the evidence and reviewing the available betting ledgers from the meeting, Stewards elected not to proceed with the matter any further and considered the matter closed.  
 
From Toowoomba 31 May 2020-
 
Stewards concluded an inquiry in relation to then Apprentice Jockey C Bayliss’ conduct at the Toowoomba meeting on this day. Subsequently Mr Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(b) which reads-
 
A person must not:
 
(b) fail or refuse to comply with an order, direction or requirement of the Stewards or an official.
 
The particulars of the charge being that during the course of a Stewards inquiry Mr Bayliss failed to comply with a direction of Stewards.
 
Mr Bayliss was fined $500. Stewards however wholly suspended such penalty for a period of 12 months on the condition Mr Bayliss does not breach this rule or any similar rule in that time period. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful that this breach was closely related to a similar breach incurred by Mr Bayliss earlier at this meeting.
 
Mr Bayliss was further reprimanded for failed to seek permission of Stewards to leave the course.
 
 
GENERAL-
 
App. E MacPherson was fined $100 for failing to produce her winning rides book when required to do so.
 
App. Z Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge under AR218(4)(c) in that he had in his possession and used his mobile phone whilst in the jockey’s room. App. Lloyd was fined $500.
 
App. Z Lloyd pleaded guilty to a further charge of improper conduct under AR228(b) in that when questioned as to the whereabouts of said mobile phone, Mr Lloyd lied on 2 occasions to Stewards. App. Lloyd was fined $1000.
 
Race 1: WTG Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
VENTURES BENIR- Trainer C Smith was fined $100 for failing to produce the thoroughbred identification card when required to do so. Slow to begin. Raced keenly for a short distance leaving the 1000m. Laid in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MOTION SENSOR- Turned its head just prior to the start being affected and as a consequence lost ground.
 
MINT MONEY- Slow to begin.
 
EASY JOY- Laid in for a short distance near the 900m.
 
IN HAVANA- Momentarily raced in restricted room and eased whilst laying in near the 100m.
 
GRACIOUS KNIGHT- Jockey G Walters was reprimanded for using his whip on consequence occasions prior to the 100m. 
 
Race 2: CAMM AGRICULTURAL GROUP OPEN Handicap 800 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow the trainer of THE TENOR, Mr J Dann, to review the photo finish. After viewing the photo finish, trainer J Dann was satisfied with the placings and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
THE TENOR- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
REMEMBER MARY- Hung out during the middle stages.
 
MUSIC SCENE- Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: MCINNES WILSON LAWYERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
CARO CAVALLO- As the gelding had not raced in a period exceeding 12 months, it was examined prior to the event by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
 
ROCK TOUR- Trainer M. Currie was fined $200 for failing to notify a rider by the prescribed time.
 
CARO CAVALLO was declared at late scratching at 2:07pm by order of the Stewards after refusing to load in the barriers. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the gelding be refunded with the following deductions to apply.
 
1st- 3 cents the win, 3 cents the place
2nd- 5 cents the place
3rd- 4 cents the place
 
Trainer G Postle was advised he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
DANINA- Apprentice Z Lloyd could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  
 
CHEESIE- Steadied to avoid heels near the 700m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
JENNIFER MAGIC- Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 900.  Hung out during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
BLUE HARMONY- Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 1000m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and was then reluctant to shift to the outside of runners in the home straight to secure clear running.
 
CIVITAS- Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 4: TOYOTA CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLES BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
TALES OF THE HEART- Raced wide throughout.
 
RIVER SPAN- Steadied near the 500m. Checked to avoid near 700m when MISS NASTY shifted in when not completely clear. At a subsequent inquiry App. M Castle was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear resulting in RIVER SPAN being checked. App. Castle’s license to ride in racing was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight at 8th May 2021, the expiration of a prior suspension incurred at Grafton and to expire at midnight 18th May 2021.
 
MAC'S BOY- Clipped heels near the 800m when SHE’S SMART shifted in despite the efforts of its rider whilst over racing. Improved onto heels and was eased near the 700m 
 
MISS BULITZ- Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. As a result of racing wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 600m.
 
SHE'S SMART- Over raced during the middle stages proving difficult to restrain.
 
STAZZANA- Slow to begin. Forced wider by another runner near the 900m and as a result raced wide for the remainder.
 
 
Race 5: MORGAN PASTORAL BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 800 metres
 
BETTER BE BETTER- Hung out during the middle stages.
 
MAC'S GAL- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
MIDNIGHT MATINEE- Hampered at the start. Hung out during the middle stages. Disappointed for a run near the 100m.
 
SIR BAM- Began awkwardly. Disappointed for a run near 100m and was than checked to avoid heels.
 
NUBOIUX- Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS- Hampered at the start.
 
Race 6: DALBY AMATEUR CUP OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
SAHAR (NZ)- Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR ROCKY- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
AMUTHON- Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: WESTERN TRUCK GROUP Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres
 
SCORPIOS SUNSET- Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without throughout. App. D McGillivray was fined $300 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
REDZEB- Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
CAMARILLO- Race 3 wide with cover throughout. Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 1100m when HEEBEE RIGHT MATE shifted in. L McCoy the rider of HEEBEE RIGHT MATE was advised to exercise more care
 
SALAZAR- Steadied from heels near the 800m.
 
HAUNTED HOUSE- Laid out for the majority.
 
POINT THE WAGON- Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
 
QUEEN LEAR- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
THIRD MARTINI- Slow to begin.
 
HEEBEE RIGHT MATE- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey L McCoy was reprimanded for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
