GENERAL
 
 
Jockey Bradley Appo was unable to ride at todays meeting due to illness. Rider replacement as per the Stewards Summary.
 
 
Race 1: DALBY RUGBY RACES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M
 
BRICKSTER- Commenced to weaken from the 1300m point and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
DESERT SANDS- Slow to begin, at approximately the 1200m point the rider had to take hold after the horse blundered and lost ground. When approaching the 1000m point had to ease off the heels of NALSSENDORI.
 
THREE MORE WISHES- Began awkwardly and bumped LOLA STAR shortly after the start. Raced in restricted room leaving the 1200m for a short distance.
 
IN A MINUTE RILEY- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in both nostrils. Stewards acting under AR79 (4), the horse shall not without the permission of Stewards: be trained, exercised, or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months; and then only after a satisfactory of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward.
 
TORYSUE-Raced three -wide with cover for the majority of the event. Laid out under pressure over the final stages.
 
TOBA- Shifted out to improve leaving the 400m and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
LOLA STAR- Was tightened for room shortly after the start by the runner to its inside and as a result lost ground. Laid out under pressure from the 100m point.
 
 
Race 2: FERMOR PLUMBING SERVICES BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400M
 
WAITAKERE- Bumped by another runner at approximately the 200m point.
 
PENNYWORTH- Was held up for a run at approximately the 100m point.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS- Was fractious in the barriers and as a result bumped its muzzle on the barrier gates. A Pre-race Veterinary examination was undertaken (At the barrier) and was passed fit to start. Reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. Raced wide from the 1100m and hung out for the majority of the event. Then travelled wide with no cover until approximately the 300m where it began to weaken significantly. Trainer W Pugsley was advised that the horse would be required to obtain a Barrier Pass prior to its next start.
 
 
DREAMSEEKER- Raced erratically at the 200m point then after approaching the 50m point did lay in bumping the hindquarters of WAITAKERE.
 
 
Race 3: BARTS CHAMPIONS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
 
BRIDGEMAN DOWNS- Raced three-wide with no cover for the majority.
 
HIMSELF- Raced wide with no cover from the 200m for the remainder of the event.
 
CONTESSA NILE- Bumped by another runner approaching the 200m point and was tightened for room at that point when GATEWAYS laid out when under pressure and lost ground.
 
DARK ORIGINS- Leaving the 600m did blunder then at approximately the 550m point the rider had to check as a result of BUCKLEYS laying in marginally despite the best efforts of the rider. Stewards spoke with Trainer N Hemmings stable representative regarding the seemingly improved performance of the Mare. Ms S Sixtus advised that this run today was the horse’s second start for the stable and it had worked very well and had improved since arriving at the Hemmings Stable. The stable was happy with the run at Stanthorpe and thought with track conditions she’d be suited today and was confident the horse would race well. Stewards noted Ms Sixtus explanation.
 
GATEWAYS- Laid out under pressure from the 200m point for a short distance.
 
HEAD DE VEGAS- Raced wide and tended to lay in from the home turn for a short distance.
 
BUCKLEYS- Hung in during the early stages of the event. Approaching the 550m tended to lay in marginally despite the best efforts by the rider resulting in another runner being inconvenienced at that point. Bumped CONTESSA NILE when approaching the 200m and lost ground.
 
FINE TABOUR- Jockey T Banks reported to Stewards that he was unable to make the allocated weight on his mount, he was then replaced by Jockey K Yoshida due to being overweight. Jockey Banks was subsequently fined the sum of $100 under AR190(3)
 
 
Race 4: STEVE McDONALD CONTRACTING CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
 
DADS LAD- Was slow to begin.
 
BEARNAS- Raced wide and hung out for the majority of the event despite the best efforts of the rider. Held up for a run at approximately the 100m point. Stewards acting under AR75(b) advised Trainer P Wallace a Warning would be placed on his horse.
 
TAKEMEOUTBACK- Began awkwardly, was bumped by another runner to the inside at the start the horse then in turn did then bump ASTRPHYSICS. Laid in marginally at the 100m point for a short distance resulting in BEARNAS being held up for a short distance.
 
WHISTLING RULER- Began awkwardly. On returning to scale Jockey T Banks advised Stewards that the bit had came through the horse’s mouth in running and as a result it wasn’t competitive
 
ASTROPHYSICS- Bumped by another runner to the inside at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Stewards questioned Trainer S Sixtus regarding the seemingly improved performance of Mare at today’s event. She advised that the Mare appreciated the better racing conditions today including the bigger track giving her more room to move. The Mare is a new addition to the stable and has been working well and had improved once the winkers went back on today. Stewards noted Trainer S Sixtus’ comments.
 
WHISTLINDIXIE LAD- Began awkwardly and bumped TAKEMEOUTBACK at the start. Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
Race 5: WE CRANES &TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP 800M
 
GAZZMAN-Leaving the 200m was bumped by another runner.
 
AGRACIANA- Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200m despite the best efforts of the rider.
 
PUBLICAN” S PURSE- Jockey B Appo was unable to for fill his riding engagement on the gelding due to illness. He was subsequently replaced by Jockey N Keal. Was slow to begin.
 
BOO- Due to the Gelding failing to proceed to the barriers Stewards declared it a late scratching at 3.50pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all monies invested on BOO to be refunded less the following deductions- Winner (GAZZMAN)- 23c, Place 18c, 2nd Place- (SPIRIT OF LUCK) 18c, 3rd Place- AGRACIANA- 18c.
Stewards advised Stable Representative Mr K Sims that the horse would be required to obtain a barrier pass prior to racing again.
 
SPIRIT OF LUCK- Slow to begin, laid in under pressure at the 200m for a short distance and did bump with GAZZMAN on two occasions from that point.
 
BUBBLE BATH- Began awkwardly with its head in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced at the rear of the field from that point for the majority of the event.
 
LADY RASCAL- On returning to scale Appr Jockey S Robbins advised Stewards that her saddle had slipped in transit proving difficult for her to ride and be competitive. Stewards noted Appr Jockey Robbins comments.
 
PRICILLA MISS- began awkwardly. Held up for a run approaching the 200m point when AGRACIANA shifted out under pressure.
 
 
Race 6- BAKER ROSSOW BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M
 
 
CRACK OF DAWN- Was buffeted between runners shortly after the start when SHOTGUN SOCKS and RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW both began awkwardly.
 
TOURMASTER- Raced at the rear of the field during the early stages after failing to go the early speed, then travelled three-wide with no cover from the 400m point.
 
RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW- Approaching the 600m point did lay in marginally resulting in YUPPIE having to ease and being inconvenienced.
 
PETA CALADA- Raced wide from the home turn for the remainder of the event.
 
YUPPIE- Approaching the 600m had to ease when between RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW and REASONARE when RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW had laid in.
 
REASONARE-Approaching the 600m was inconvenienced when YUPPIE racing to the outside had to ease and shift in marginally.
