GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 3- A Thompson +1/2kg
Race 9- J Lloyd +1/2kg
RACE 1: PEST WORX MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
NEWELL BEACH – Raced wide for the majority.
YONAKA – Laid in under pressure down the running.
JEZABEL JAZZ – Beagan awkwardly and was slow into stride.
MAGIC THEY SAY – Slow to begin then became awkwardly placed on heels having to be momentarily steadied.
ROIGARD – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 500m laid out having to be corrected and became awkward in its action resulting in App K Barker becoming momentarily unbalanced before again laying out and becoming awkwardly placed on heels near the 400m. Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted out abruptly approaching the 200m.
RACE 2: LADBROKES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
STAR OF ASCOT – As the gelding was scratched on a veterinary certificate Trainers T & A Sweeney were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
LITTLE FELLA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 500m laid in marginally and hampered TROOPER SAM. Jockey J Huxtable was advised to show greater care under similar circumstances.
BRAVE IN SEATTLE – Laid out rounding the home turn. App O Kendall reported the mare raced keenly early and she was hesitant to restrain her mount excessively given is predisposition to resent such in its work adding further that, in her opinion, the filly would be better suited to being ridden with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mildly slow recovery.
STRIKE ME PINK – Began awkwardly and bumped.
VEEKO STYLE – Laid in under pressure down the running.
CANCELLED – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied approaching the 500m and passing the 400m.
TROOPER SAM – Bumped on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels. Raced in restricted room approaching the 500m and had to be steadied.
RACE 3: SUNDOWN SIGNS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000m
AKAKA FALLS – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
ABLETT – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
SHOWS A SIGN – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure from the 100m. Hampering XERRI near the 50m. Jockey L Tilley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
REVALENE - Bumped shortly after the start. Crowded and steadied near the 500m. Laid in under pressure down the running momentarily hampering XERRI. App C Baker was advised to stop riding and straighten her mount sooner in similar circumstances.
XERRI – Disappointed for a run and steadied near the 50m.
LOADED GUN - Began awkwardly.
ROCONONO - Began awkwardly.
IMMORTAL LASS - Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 4: CRITERION HOTEL DALBY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400m
HOTFOOT PERFORMER – Raced keenly near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey L Tilley reported the gelding over-raced early, was caught three wide and wasn’t suited by the slow pace in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
CAVALHEIRO – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
RACE 5: XXXX BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m
ALL BLACK – Laid in under pressure over the final stages.
KINGSLAND – Began awkwardly then bumped heavily losing ground. Approaching the 800m approved to the inside of SUENITO when there was insufficient room to do so and had to be eased. Laid out passing the 400m becoming awkwardly placed on heels and had to be eased before shifting out abruptly on entering the home straight taking MILAGRO wider. App R O’Connell was advised to show greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
PORRISTA (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority.
SHAMROCK'S SECRET – Began awkwardly and bumped.
MILAGRO – Taken wider upon entering the home straight.
SUENITO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first such occurrence trainer R Warzecha was advised of the provisions of AR79.
RACE 6: WARREGO WATER BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m
WINCHMAN – Laid in under pressure down the running.
MA'S EPIC – Bumped rounding the home turn and became momentarily unbalanced. Laid out upon entering the home straight and bumped heavily, momentarily becoming unbalanced. Lost off-hind plate in running. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
MISHANI PERSUASION – Laid in rounding the home turn and bumped. Upon entering the home straight was bumped heavily on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
ANOTHER FORTUNE – Raced keen near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority.
SO YOU CAN TORQUE – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Held up for clear running from the 400m until entering the home straight.
YES I'M UGLY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Bumped the inside running rail leaving the 600m.
GREEN PARK – Raced keenly in the back straight.
RACE 7: DALBY CABS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400m
CHANGE THE DEEL – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Over-raced onto heels leaving the 1000m, continuing to race keenly for some distance thereafter. Obliged to shift wider from the 300m to obtain clear running.
MISHANI REACTOR – Trainer B Gorman was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
SAXINOUE – Began awkwardly and bumped.
LUDIK – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Laid in under pressure down the running.
HUSSON'S REVENGE – Raced wide for the majority.
SURCOTE – Trainer R Beaton was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR36(7)(a) for the late scratching of the dually accepted gelding. Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly passing the 1000m. Raced wide from the 800m.
XUANFENG – When the front barrier gates of the stall opened prior to the start being effected the gelding was quickly restrained by its rider and returned to the barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Became fractious in the barriers after being reloaded, becoming cast and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:07pm with Stewards ordering all monies invested on the gelding to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:07pm:
10 cents in the dollar for the win
11 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
11 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
Trainer C Geran was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
Following the running of this event the Starter undertook a review of the relevant barrier stall to ensure its proper functionality.
RACE 8: STAG MACHINERY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review footage of the start to ensure DECRYPT had been afforded a fair start. After reviewing the relevant footage Stewards were satisfied that DECRYPT had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.
PREPONENT – When the front barrier gates of the stall opened prior to the start being effected the gelding was quickly restrained by its rider and returned to the barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
DECRYPT – Began awkwardly, causing Jockey J Huxtable to lose his irons on jumping, becoming unbalanced and being dislodged soon after. Jockey J Huxtable was stood down from his remaining engagement to allow time to be assessed by QAS and was stood down under the QRIC Concussion Policy and advised a medical clearance and Cognitive test would be required prior to riding again.
IONACELTIC – Laid in under pressure down the running.
SAXON SLAYER – Began awkwardly and slow away.
DOONA – Raced wide for the majority.
Following the running of this event, noting that two different barrier stalls had malfunctioned in the previous two races a review of all barrier stalls was conducted to ensure their proper functionality inclusive of testing prior to the next event.
RACE 9: SOUTH SIDE BUTCHERY & BUTCHERS PANTRY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 2000m
BRAVE BOY- Restrained from heels near the 1600m. Bumped near the 1500m. Urged forward when caught wide at the rear of the field near the 1400m and settled into the lead along the inside running rail near the 1200m.
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority. Tired from the 500m. Trainer K Afford was advised the geldings nominations would now be refused at TAB venues until its non-TAB form improved.
BAVARIAN LADY- Shifted in when not fully clear of BRAVE BOY and causing itself to become awkwardly placed on heels and steadied near the 1600m. Jockey L Tilley was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Raced keenly for some distance thereafter.
FLASH PRINCE- Raced keenly near the 1500m.
SECURITY ADVISOR- Bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages, over-racing on heels near the 1500m. momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 400m.
GREY NORTHERN (NZ) – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start and bumped again soon after. Laid in under pressure down the running.
TORTILLA- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly and steadied from heels near the 1500m.
ATLANTIC ROYAL- Bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages, over-racing on heels near the 1500m having to be restrained, shifted out and bumped.
HE'S VIRAL (NZ)- Bumped on jumping and again soon after. After being caught wide in the early stages and with a lack of early pace present the gelding was permitted to stride forward settling into a leading position along the inside running rail leaving the 1600m.
