GENERAL
Jockey A Thompson was unable to make today’s meeting due to transport difficulties. Changes made as per the Stewards race day summary.
Race 1:MATTHEW ARNOLD AND RACHAEL MCCROW MEMORIAL QTIS 3-Y-O BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review the footage of the start and early stages to determine the cause of Jockey A Allen being dislodged from FAR CRY. After viewing the footage Stewards identified that near the 1300m FAR CRY had shied and shifted in very abruptly causing Jockey Allen to become unbalanced and ultimately dislodged. Correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.
FAR CRY – Near the 1300m shifted in abruptly dislodging Jockey A Allen. A Allen was examined by QAS officers and cleared of any injuries nonetheless, Stewards advised Jockey Allen he would need to complete a cognitive assessment prior to race-riding again. Trainer T Pascoe was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for her racing manners.
TRUCK STOP HONEY – Raced wide until 700m when pressed forward.
ZOUSAIN GIRL - Trainer N Beck advised a change of tactics – to be ridden off speed with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
Race 2: LADBROKES TOP 2/3/4 BETTING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
After the running of Race 1 the track rating was upgraded to a Good 3.
UP THE CREEK (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifting out bumping SAK THE WRITER. Raced keen early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mildly slow recovery.
SAK THE WRITER - Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. When questioned jockey R Wiggins reported the gelding proved disappointing, however being first up after a spell it would derive fitness benefit from today’s run, he further added the gelding would also appreciate a step up in distance.
WANNA KISS – Laid in under pressure down the running.
ED I AM - Began awkwardly shifting out bumping VOLCANIC PARK. Raced wide for the majority.
VOLCANIC PARK - Bumped and taken wider on jumping. Raced keen early and middle stages.
Race 3: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
MAKE MINE SHIRAZ – Awkwardly placed on the heels soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
KIRISHIMA - Bumped soon after the start. Laid out near the 600m.
PORT RUIGHE – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Crowded and pumped on jumping. Placed under pressure from the 800m and tailed off. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer P Wallace was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners.
PRUCIA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, hampering runners to its outside. Awkwardly placed on heels passing the finishing post when VERSION laid in. Jockey G Geran was reprimanded for this incident.
REVA'S CHOICE – Slow into stride. Raced keen when crossed near the 900m. Laid out under pressure down the running.
VERSION – Laid in under pressure down the running.
SOLAR SURFER – Near the 100m shifted in and was disappointed for a run before shifting back out to obtain clear running.
Race 4: LADBROKES BIG BETS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m
ELUSIVE EAGLE - Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
MY NAME IS (NZ) - Jockey L Tilley reported his mount did not appreciate today’s firm surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed A minor laceration to the right-hind hock.
INATICK – Bumped soon after jumping. Momentarily held up on heels at the 400m.
THAT'S AN EXTRA - Bumped soon after jumping. Momentarily keen on heels near the 400m.
XERRI – Laid in under pressure down the running.
ZOUCHASE - Slow to begin.
Race 5: LADBROKES RACING EXTRAS IN MULTI RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey L Tilley, rider of 2nd placegetter ARTOPIA, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo Jockey L Tilley was satisfied and Stewards declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
BOLD TEE – Shifted out on jumping.
VELOCE METEOR – Improved onto heels when over-racing and had to be steadied near the 500m.
KENTUCKY ROSE - Trainer reported the mare did not appreciate todays firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to both hind fetlocks consistent with being galloped on in running.
SKY BLUE - Taken wider soon after the start when BOLT TEE shifted out.
RUM DIARY - Laid in under pressure down the running.
LONERGY - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the tie-ups and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Apprentice jockey S Bailey was reminded of her obligations to ride her mount out to the finish line. Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after slipping in the wash bay and was cleared to start.
Race 6: LADBROKES SPRING HOSTED POTS CLASS 3 PLATE 1400m
FISTSOFFURY – Momentarily eased off heels near the 700m.
FIRE AND LIGHT - Began awkwardly and slow away.
GIDDAY GIDDAY – App K Lenton, in the presence of Apprentice Mentor Mr R Fradd, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in that leaving the 800m she did exercise insufficient effort in preventing her mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of GOTEBO, which was crowded and taken in, tightening the running of AOOM’S CHOICE which was obliged to check and lost its rightful running. App Lenton’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7days to commence 20 December, up to and including 26 December 2025. In determining the matter Stewards applied the QRIC careless riding template. App Lenton was advised of her right to an appeal. Near the 700m shifted in when insufficiently clear of GOTEBO causing that runner inwards
ONE BEAT NO BEAT – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure down the running.
AOOM'S CHOICE - Tightened for room before being obliged to check and lose its rightful running leaving the 800m.
LADY ZAYDI - Awkwardly placed on heels and eased near the 700m.
GOTEBO – Crowded leaving the 800m and taken in.
PREPOTENT- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-fore. Trainer A Park was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
Race 7: LADBROKES POPULAR SRM BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m
MR WANDJI - Awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start.
THIEF BY NIGHT - Bumped soon after the start.
HEADLINE LEGEND – Raced wide for the majority.
ISLAND MAGIC – Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
MISHANI SUSPECT – Bumped soon after the start. Laid out under pressure down the running.
PROFITS PRAYER - Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keen passing the 900m.
ARIYAH- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
