GENERAL
 
Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the stabling of runners engaged at today’s Dalby meeting for trainer K. Clark Peoples. After Stewards attended a property in Toowoomba on race morning, it was identified that BROOKLN DAISY, DECORATIVE, LUPINE and ULUWATU had not been stabled in accordance with AR296(4). Stewards interviewed trainer K. Clark Peoples in relation to the matter and following this Stewards withdrew all runners engaged at 8:59am. The inquiry has been adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.
 
As rider B. Wheeler was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to illness, rider changes were made as per the Steward’s summary below.
 
As apprentice K. Lenton was indisposed due to a fall at Toowoomba, Stewards permitted the replacement of G. Geran in Race 5.  
 
Trainer M. Kropp was reminded of his obligation under AR166 to ensure his horses are attended to at all times while on course at a race meeting
 
RACE 1 SAINTS SPRING FAIR MAIDEN PLATE        2000 M

ACTS ALONE – Began awkwardly.
 
CRUNCH TIME (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Ipswich, 09/09/2026 and was passed fit to start. Rider K. Zechner reported that he was instructed to settle in a handy position or to lead on the gelding. He added that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the quick back-up and due to being only moderately away settled further back than intended.
 
DECOY – Wanted to lay out rounding the turn near the 600m. Laid out rounding the turn at the 400m. Apprentice A. McColm was advised where possible to ride his mounts out to the finish.
 
MOTION A NATION – Rider N. Tomizawa reported it was his intention to settle in a handy position on the mare. He added, in the early stages, he was unable to find a position and as a result raced wide without cover until the 1300m, which in his opinion, was detrimental to its overall finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a heart murmur. Trainer D. Chujo was advised that MOTION A NATION would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an echocardiogram. Rider N. Tomizawa was severely reprimanded under AR 132(6)(b) for his use of whip above shoulder height.
 
SILVERTAIL - Slow to begin.
 
SPRING RAIN – Began awkwardly. Rider L. Tilley was at a loss to explain the performance other than his mount began very awkwardly and may have knocked itself out of the gates. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 2 D&NDJC COMMITTEE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP          2000 M

CARDIOLOGIST– Had to be eased over the concluding stages when in restricted room.
 
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Rounding the turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion wanted to lay out and got its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 750m was steadied when close to the heels of LORD PROTECTOR (D. McGillvray).
 
TRUSTY BANDIT – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
LORD PROTECTOR (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider D. McGillivray reported that the tempo of the event did not suit the gelding who wanted to race keenly and as a result he had to make a long sustained run.
 
BOLERO – Slow to begin.
 
BESIEGE - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rounding the turn at the 1500m was steadied when the tempo of the race slackened and got its head up on a number of occasions.
 
Rider D. McGillivray was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR131(a). The particulars being that near the 750m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of BITOFTHEBLARNEY (K. Barker), which was steadied and lost its rightful running. D. McGillivray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 20 September 2026 and to expire midnight 2 October 2026. In accessing penalty, Stewards considered his plea, record and the QRIC Careless riding template.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 3 at 2.14pm.

RACE 3 BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTIES 10TH DECEMBER 2026 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

LUNY – Began awkwardly.
 
MISSION WISE  - Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from approaching the 500m until approaching the 200m where he was then disappointed for a narrow run between ZOUMAN and HE’S A FIGHTER. Passing the 200m shifted out to obtain clear running. Approaching the 100m was eased and taken in slightly by STAFFO (A. McColm) which had shifted in when laying in. Near the 50m raced in restricted room between STAFFO, which when laying in, shifted in and ZOUMAN (Rider W. O’Connell) which had shifted out under riding and was steadied. Both A. McColm and W. O’Connell were severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised they must make greater effort to stop and straighten when their mounts are shifting ground. Rider J. Franklin reported that although his mount was held up for long periods in the straight his mount failed to quicken when he had obtained clear running and was only fair to the finish.
 
ROYAL DIPLOMAT - Began awkwardly.
 
HE'S A FIGHTER - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KERRIELLA  – Near the 1300m was eased from the heels of ROYAL DIPLOMAT.
 
STAFFO – Raced wide without cover for a majority of the event. Apprentice A. McColm reported that his mount, which was steeping up to the 1400m for the first time wanted to lay in when weaking in the straight.
 
GOOD SKYE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.    

RACE 4 OUR LADY OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS COLLEGE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP        1000 M

DRUMS OF WAR – Began awkwardly.
 
BETTERINDANUDE – Stewards accepted the reason tendered by trainer P. Wallace for the late declaration of A. McColm. Apprentice A. McColm was severely reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line. In accessing penalty, Stewards did not believe his actions had any bearing on the overall placings but took into account they had already spoken to A. McColm earlier in the day for the same reason.
 
LADY WILLPOWER – Rider L. Tilley reported that in his opinion the mare would appreciate tracks with more give.
 
ROCKY BLONDE - Began awkwardly.
 
TAYLOR'S RAGE - Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MASTER MIYAGI – Raced keenly through the middle stages and wanted to lay-out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
MAGGIE ROSE – Struggled to maintain contact with the bulk of the field despite the efforts of its rider in the early stages.

RACE 5 G.J. GARDINER HOMES DALBY & CHINCHILLA RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP        1000 M

 
RUM DIARY – Began awkwardly.
 
BOOMTIME NOW – Hampered shortly after the start between MISS WATERLINE and SO BE INSPIRED. Eased down from the 300m. Rider B. Larena could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed harsh lung sounds which could have been attributed to exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhaging. Trainer P. Wallace was advised that BOOMTIME NOW will need to obtain a further barrier certificate due to the performance. Margin 31.5L.
 
BEAU'S GIRL – Rider G. Cartwright was at a loss to explain the performance, other than the mare may appreciate tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore. Trainer R. Pereira was advised that BEAU’S GIRL would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next engagement.
 
ZAVEGA – Raced keen throughout.
 
DASHING HOPE - Raced wide without cover. Hung out rounding the turn near the 400m.
 

RACE 6 PURCELL CIVIL AND CONSTRUCTION PLOUGH INN CUP MAIDEN PLATE        1400 M

LAW AND ORDER – Slow to begin.
 
MOONLIGHT ODYSSEY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 750m was eased when close to the heels of QUEEN VICTORIOUS (G. Geran) which had shifted in when not quite clear. Rider G. Geran was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear.
 
SLAYRIDER - Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SOLO HUNTER – Began awkwardly.
 
QUEEN VICTORIOUS - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider G. Geran reported that the mare, which was first up for a new stable, will derive benefit from further racing and fitness.
 
WANNA KISS – Apprentice J. Emmerson reported that after being slow to begin, she raced further back than intended adding that the mare raced greenly throughout the event and as a result shifted wider in the straight than she would have liked.

RACE 7 WILD RIVER CONCRETE DALBY CUP OPEN HANDICAP   1400 M

DON PEDRO – Began awkwardly.
 
THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Held up for clear running from passing the 300m until passing the 200m.
 
KAIZAD – Near the 200m was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
 
LAST CHANCE SALOON – Held up for clear running from approaching the 400m until passing the 300m. Rider N. Tomizawa was fined $200 under AR132(6)(b) for his use of whip use above shoulder height.
 
BRECHEN – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
AIRSWING – When racing keenly passing the 1200m was eased when close to the heels of SIR CARTER (D. McGillivray). Rider D. McGillivray was advised to exercise greater care. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
Rider D. McGillivray pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, which is 4 more than permitted, and 18 times in total. Rider McGillivray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 2 October and expire midnight 11 October which is to be served following his careless riding suspension incurred earlier in the meeting. In assessing penalty Stewards considered his guilty plea, record and the QRIC Whip Penalty Template.    

RACE 8 TOM FRITH BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP    1400 M

AOLANI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Near the 350m brushed and carried out slightly by CEEKAY’S CHOICE.

LONERGY – Hampered and shifted wider rounding the home turn.
 
GOLDEN LOOM – Approaching the 200m raced tight to the inside of TOSCANELLA which had shifted in (A. Keeley). A Keeley was severely reprimanded for shifting ground under the provisions of AR131(a). Passing the 200m was steadied when in restricted room to the inside of TOSCANELLA which had been taken in by HELLO DOLLY DIVA (L. Tilley) which had shifted in. L. Tilley was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear AR131(a).
 
TOSCANELLA – Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure in the straight. Carried in passing the 200m, before being corrected by its rider. Rider A. Keeley reported that in his opinion the filly had raced with success sustaining a tempo on speed and being able to maintain that against horses down in class. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
FLYING BIRDS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 350m brushed and carried slightly out when weakening.
 
HELLO DOLLY DIVA – Near the 350m shifted out and brushed FLYING BIRDS. Laid in under pressure in the straight and shifted in near the 200m.
 
CEEKAY'S CHOICE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 350m was steadied when tightened for room (L. Tilley).
 
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 350m where CEEKAY’S CHOICE was steadied when in restricted room. On the footage available and after taking evidence from A. Keeley (TOSCANELLA), L. Tilley (HELLO DOLLY DIVA), N. Tomizawa (FLYING BIRDS), F. Larson (CEEKAY’S CHOICE) and J. Emmerson (AOLANI) it was established that approaching the 350m a narrow run began to appear between TOSCANELLA and FLYING BIRDS, which HELLO DOLLY DIVA began to work into. At a point passing the 350m HELLO DOLLY DIVA brushed with FLYING BIRDS, taking that gelding out slightly into the running of CEEKAY’S CHOICE, which had shifted out to establish a position between AOLANI, which rolled in marginally and FLYING BIRDS. As a result of the shifted and brush from HELLO DOLLY DIVA, CEEKAY’S CHOICE was steadied when in restricted room. Stewards severely reprimanded rider L. Tilley under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised that he must be more mindful when shifting ground along with only persisting for runs when there is sufficient room to do so without causing interference.
