METEOROLOGIST – Jockey D. Griffin was questioned regarding his riding of the gelding, particularly from the 600m until the 200m. Jockey Griffin stated that the gelding felt awkward in its action throughout the race and after leaving the 600m he intended to follow the favourite SOMMERNACHTSTRAUM into the race however, when SOMMERNACHTSTRAUM did not improve quickly making the home turn he elected to then follow OUTSTRIP and improve to the inside. Jockey Griffin added that was the only stage of the race that the horse travelled and when placed under pressure inside the 200m only responded fairly to his riding. He further added that connections had advised that they may place blinkers on the gelding prior to its next start. Whilst stewards noted his explanations they were nonetheless critical of his ride at the entrance to the straight as to why he did not take a run to the outside of MORE THAN AHOLIDAY and to the inside of SOMMERNACHTSTRAUM.

Stewards advised App McGuren that as a senior metropolitan apprentice he should have made some effort to restrain the gelding to take a trailing position behind the leader near the 800m.
