SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:

On Friday 27 February 2015 Racing Qld stewards and veterinary staff obtained swab samples from 89 horses from 25 stables in the Eagle Farm, Hendra and Toowomba precincts. All horses had accepted to race this weekend

GENERAL:

As R. Wiggins was overweight stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. R. Wiggins was subsequently fined the sum of $200.00.

Due to racing commitments at the Gold Coast stewards permitted App B. Appo to be replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: Centenary Classic Mercedes-Benz QTIS 2YO H'Cap - 1050m

CRAIGLEA ALTISE – Slow to begin.

EIGHT BELOW – Slow to begin.
HOPE ISLAND – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

LUJAC – Approaching the home turn improved into a narrow run between SWEET REPEAT and CAPITANEAR and was then momentarily steadied near the 400m when SWEET REPEAT shifted in slightly.

MAN OF HIS WORD – Near the 200m shifted out and made heavy contact with SYN CITY. Shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages.

WALK TO FREEDOM – Raced wide throughout.

POWER UP – Raced wide throughout.

SYN CITY – Raced wide throughout.


Race 2: Sapphire Recruitment Open H'Cap - 2200m

SUPERCOACH – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in hampering other runners.

ANTON EN AVANT - Had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened between runners.

FRIGHTENING BOLT – Hampered shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was tightened for room. Held up from the entrance to the straight until near the 150m.

BEST OF THE REST - Passing the winning post on the first occasion was tightened for room.

VODNIK – S. Galloway reported the gelding resented racing inside horses and was most disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

MASTER AVATAR – Found to be distressed following the event and required veterinary attention and subsequently made a full recovery.


Race 3: Southbank Insurance Brokers OMW H'Cap - 1110m

Prior to the start THINKHESAURUS attempted to burrow underneath the front gates, was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

BLACKBOARD SPECIAL – Slow to begin. At the entrance to the straight had to be steadied away from the heels of another runner and then had to alter course to obtain clear running near the 250m. Rider M. Cahill reported that the saddle shifted back on jumping away, which in his opinion had affected the horse’s action throughout the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

REAL FAVULOUS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

SONS OF GOD – Raced wide in the early stages.
THINKHESAURUS – Raced wide in the early stages.

JEFFERSON PARK – Passing the 700m had to be steadied away from heels.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.

Race 4: Hardy Brothers Jewellers QTIS 3YO H’Cap - 1110m

Trainer B. Wakefield was fined the sum of $200.00 for the late declaration of L. Cassidy as the rider of SILIQUA.

SILIQUA – Slow to begin. Rider L. Cassidy reported the gelding was inclined to hang out during the middle stages.

HOTEL DRIVE – Slow to begin.

ALEXSTRASZA – Hampered shortly after the start by another runner, which shifted in.

PIENKNA – A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery rate. A swab sample was taken.

Race 5: Hardy Brothers Jewellers QTIS 3YO H'Cap – 1110m

HAZARD BAY reared and hit its head on the barrier and was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice at 2.46 p.m. All monies invested on HAZARD BAY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winners and placegetters prior to 2.46 p.m.:-

11 cents in the dollar for the win - #10 (NOTONYOURLIFE)
14 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #10 (NOTONYOURLIFE)
14 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #4 (VIENNA ROYALE)
12 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #6 (DENARIUS)

Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the gelding must compete in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.

VIENNA ROYALE – Shifted out on jumping and made contact with another runner.

NOTONYOURLIFE – Bumped on jumping away.

HIDDEN ROAD – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered some gum lacerations to the lower jaw.

ITALIAN STORM – Near the 700m had to steady away from heels.

BOARD DIRECTOR – Approaching the 200m raced in restricted room for a short distance.

SURPRISE RESULT – Raced wide throughout without cover.

HIDDEN ROAD – Raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Greenslopes Private Hospital Falvelon Quality H'Cap (Listed) - 1200m

THE PEAK – Slow to begin.

ROCKET TO GLORY – Shifted out on jumping away. At the 1000m shifted away from another runner.

REMAGEN BRIDGE – Near the 1000m had to be checked when tightened for room.

LIVING ON A PRAYER – Had to be steadied off heels near the 800m and shifted out. After leaving the 800m raced in restricted room inside runners. Approaching the 600m again had to be steadied away from heels.

THE PEAK – Near the 800m improved quickly into a narrow run inside of LIVING ON A PRAYER.

MR FAVULOUS – Held up rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the near hind with lacerations to the inside of the achilles tendon above the hock. Trainer D. Baker will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to it racing again.


Race 7: IPG Connect BenchMark 85 H'Cap - 1200m

Stewards considered an objection lodged by D. Griffin the rider of FLAMBOYER which finished fourth against BIG DECISION (J. Lloyd) being declared second placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference inside the 100m. On the evidence it was established that inside the 100m FLAMBOYER was taken out by BIG DECISION, which made contact with MS BA BELLA. Stewards were of the opinion that this interference was significant and therefore upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:-

1st MISS COVER GIRL
2nd MS BA BELLA
3rd FLAMBOYER
4th BIG DECISION

Stewards also considered an objection lodged by B. Stewart the rider of MS BA BELLA which finished third against BIG DECISION (J. Lloyd) begin declared second placegetter for alleged interference near the 100m. As stewards had upheld D. Griffin’s objection B. Stewart’s objection was immaterial to the outcome of the race.

J. Lloyd (BIG DECISION) was reprimanded for this incident.

GOOD JOB BRO – Slow to begin.

BARACHELLO – Raced wide throughout.

THEFT – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 8: Tattersall’s Members’ Cup H'Cap (Listed) - 1600m

ROTHERA – Shortly after the start was hampered when tightened for room between runners.

COLD BLOODED – Raced wide without cover throughout.

KISS ME DEADLY – At the entrance to the straight became awkward when brushed by another runner. Near the 150m had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners.

ALLKNIGHT SAINT – At the entrance to the straight brushed another runner.

BLACK JET – Shifted in near the 150m tightening another runner. J. Lloyd was severely reprimanded for this incident and advised to exercise more care in future.

GREY ASSIGNMENT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that a veterinary certificate, including the results of an ECG must be produced and the gelding must also trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.


Race 9: Carlton Mid Class 6 Plate – 1350m

YOUWAITANDSEE – Slow to begin.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Slow to begin.

IDLE CHAT – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.

AUGUSTE – Slow to begin.

SEQUONIS – Raced wide without cover throughout.

CARMORA – Raced wide without cover throughout.

BODEGA NEGRA – Approaching the home turn was forced wide by another runner.

COSMONAUT - Approaching the home turn was forced wide by another runner.

VOODOO BLUE MAGIC – Had to be checked near the 200m when tightened between runners.

CAELLUM – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when close to the heels of another runner.

App A. Collett (CAELLUM) was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift out near the 200m causing another runner to be checked.

DIAMOND FUND – App B. Grylls reported following the event that the mare did not quicken when placed under pressure in the straight and in her opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
