Race 1: MITAVITE AUSTRALIA QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M
The start of this race was delayed when both KODACOMMAND and REAL KING proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that they would be required to obtain further barrier certificates for their respective runners before being permitted to race again.
MADIBA – When questioned, T. Harrison explained that in the horse’s jump-out it had shown abundant early speed and with this in mind she anticipated that she would be able to cross the field to lead. She said after going a short distance, she was aware that she would be unable to cross COURT THE GEISHA and KODACOMMAND and was caught three wide. When asked why she did not consider restraining her mount to trail the two leaders, she said that at the time she had that option approaching the 900m, DAZZLING GIRL and SUPER ZULU were to her inside and because of this thought her best option was to keep her horse balanced in anticipation that KODACOMMAND would be restrained, allowing her to race outside the lead. When this did not occur, after the 800m she felt it best to keep her horse in the same position. She said in hindsight it would have been much better had she elected to take a trailing position to allow MADIBA to obtain cover. Whilst she conceded that she had erred and the position in which the horse raced contributed to its finishing effort, she was of the view that the injuries it also sustained at the top of the straight were a major contributor to the horse weakening badly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lacerations to the outside of the off hind cannon, consistent with being galloped on. Trainer T. Gollan advised that the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell.
MR SANDMAN – Steadied when crowded for room shortly after the start.
REAL KING – Inconvenienced slightly near the 100m.
SHOULDA TO SHOULDA – Steadied when crowded for room shortly after the start.

ONEMORE FOR WILSON – Bumped with another runner on several occasions from the 200m to the winning post.

CANNY AND THE JET – Raced three wide without cover.

BASHAN – Slow into stride.
Race 8: BMAG TEDDY BEARS PICNIC RATINGS BAND 0-70 H’CAP – 1640M
On return to scale T. Bell, the rider of OUTRAGED, placed 5th, lodged an objection against REVITALISE being placed 4th, alleging interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage, stewards were of the view that approaching the 200m OUTRAGED was entitled to and improved into a run between BARCELONA BOUND and REVITALISE, and then REVITALISE commenced to shift out whilst being ridden along, resulting in OUTRAGED being severely crowded on to BARCELONA BOUND and eventually being checked severely. As the stewards were of the view that the extent of the interference was solely caused by REVITALISE shifting out and exceeded the long head margin separating both horses at the finish, the protest 5th against 4th was upheld and the placings amended accordingly. At a subsequent inquiry R. Fradd, the rider of REVITALISE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along, resulting in the interference to OUTRAGED. R. Fradd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term to commence at midnight on Saturday 13 June and expire at midnight on Friday 26 June 2015.
REVITALISE – Raced three wide without cover. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding sustained a laceration to the back of the near hind fetlock, consistent with being galloped on.
HOME TO THE BRIDE – Crowded slightly on straightening.
RIGHT OR WRONG – J. Byrne said that his intention was to find a position in the lead, however when the horse began only fairly from the wide draw he took the immediate decision to restrain and cross to race in a rearward position.
GOTTA ZIP – When afforded the opportunity to explain the improved performance, trainer B. Smith stated that the horse performed disappointingly and he was unable to explain the performance at its last start. He added that since that run the horse has worked extremely well and he elected to experiment with significant gear changes for today’s race as advertised. He said the horse has been much more relaxed in its work and its general demeanour, which he attributed to the gear changes.
LANDALE – Overraced in the middle stages.
MARASKA – Crowded slightly on straightening.
