GENERAL

Following further rainfall since 7.30 am scratching time, the track was downgraded from GOOD 4 to SOFT 6 at 11 am.

Race 1: KENO CLASSIC MAIDEN H’CAP – 2220M

ONEMORE FOR WILSON – Improved on to the heels of a tiring runner near the 500m and shifted out.

EXCELLENT WINNER – Raced three wide throughout. Commenced to lose ground from the 800m.

PANYA – R. Wiggins reported that in his opinion the mare failed to handle today’s track conditions.

USSANDU – Slow into stride.

Race 2: CROWN GOLDEN ALE F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

After arriving on course, whilst being walked, ANGEL MIO became fractious, broke away from its handler and threw itself down. A veterinary examination found the horse was not suitable to race and the horse was withdrawn at 11.20 am.

KISSED BY DESTINY – B. Stewart was fined $300 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

BINGBOBGIL – As the horse had sustained a laceration over its right eye yesterday, it was examined by the veterinary surgeon after arrival on course and deemed suitable to race. Began awkwardly and struck the nearside gate.

FRANLYLE – Bounded at the start.

NEAR THE CITY – Overraced from the 800m for some distance when the tempo steadied in front.

Race 3: UBET C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, S. Galloway, the rider of 3rd placegetter GEORGIO, lodged an objection against AMERICAN HERO being placed 2nd, alleging interference approaching the 100m. On the evidence it was established that approaching the 100m AMERICAN HERO shifted out slightly, however somewhat simultaneously GEORGIO, when struck with whip, shifted in across the heels of AMERICAN HERO, resulting in GEORGIO having to be restrained for a short distance and shifted in further. As the stewards were of the view that the interference was not solely attributable to AMERICAN HERO shifting out, the protest was dismissed.

GEORGIO – Hampered shortly after the start when JACKSON BAY shifted out whilst hanging.

JACKSON BAY – Hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan’s stable representative was advised that a warning would be placed against the racing manners of the gelding.

SUNCANSING – Slow to begin.

AMERICAN HERO – Trainer B. Guy reported that the horse had sustained minor lacerations to both hind legs.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD AUSTRALIAN PALE ALE QTIS 3YO FILLIES H’CAP – 1050M

AMERICAN SPIRIT – Steadied from heels after the 800m and then raced ungenerously thereafter for a short distance.

MORE FOR ME – Slow to begin.

WICKED TEMPTATION – Raced three wide without cover. Inconvenienced near the 200m and again near the 100m.

OCEANTES – Inconvenienced near the 200m by HAD ME AT HELLO, which shifted in.

KHALEESI – T. Harrison was reprimanded for continuing to ride her mount along with the whip in the straight whilst it was shifting ground due to hanging.

After the running of this event the track was downgraded to SOFT 7.

Race 5: IGT AUSTRALIA BM80 H’CAP – 1650M

HARD TICKER – Raced three wide without cover.

SOLO SAGA – Crowded on to the fence after the 600m and had to be checked. R. Fradd, the rider of IT’S ON THE POCKET, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after the 600m he shifted his mount to the inside of PICKABEE, and in doing so took CRUZ BY, which had improved to the inside of his mount, in on to SOLO SAGA. R. Fradd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term to commence at midnight on Sunday 26 July and expire at midnight on Saturday 8 August 2015.

Race 6: CELLARBRATIONS LIQUOR STORES C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

REDHAWKS – Hampered badly at the start when crowded for room. Overraced from the 900m, refused to settle and was allowed to stride forward by its rider from the 700m.

BEST OF TIMES – Had to be restrained from heels near the 800m.

THREE BEERS PLEASE – Severely checked at the start when crowded.

LITTLE WHITE – Hung out badly making the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HELLO AL – Had to be unnecessarily restrained near the 800m to avoid the heels of LANDALE, which was shifted in when not sufficiently clear. T. Harrison, the rider of LANDALE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) and her licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term to commence at midnight on Sunday 26 July and expire at midnight on Friday 6 August 2015.

Race 7: BUNDABERG RUM SMALL BATCH F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

SHE’S A DANICA – Overraced in the middle stages.

Race 8: ARISTOCRAT LIGHTNING LINK CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1350M

HEART OF A WARRIOR – Raced wide throughout.

CRAMMING – When questioned, B. Pengelly stated that he had ridden the horse in work prior to today and it had pleased him in its work. He said that it may not have handled today’s track conditions. He added that shortly after the start he endeavoured to ride it along, however CRAMMING appeared to resent the soft conditions and the kickback and despite his urgings in the early stages it was reluctant to stride out and remained detached from the field. He was of the view that the horse never handled the track at any stage of the event. Trainer’s representative G. Thompson said the horse was having its first start in their care and despite it showing form previously on soft conditions, it had indicated in a recent trial on a wet track that it was reluctant to stretch out and for this reason he formed the view that it may not have handled the conditions. Mr Thompson advised that, in hindsight, given today’s track conditions, he may have made an application to withdraw CRAMMING from the event. Mr Thompson also advised that the horse had been working well and he is confident that it will perform much better on firmer track conditions. Mr Thompson undertook to inform stewards of anything that comes to light in coming days which may have had an effect on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

GALLINARI – Apprentice B. Appo was fined $300 for weighing in overweight.
