Race 7: HAMILTON HOTEL’S 15OTH BIRTHDAY F&M RATINGS BAND 0-75 H’CAP – 1350M

PERFORMIA – When questioned regarding her mount racing in a more forward position today, apprentice B. Stower explained that the mare has had an inclination to be slow to begin on numerous occasions and for this reason she was asked to ride the horse vigorously early. She said today PERFORMIA began best and despite being instructed to have the horse racing midfield or worse, she believed that because of the manner in which the mare began it would be advantageous to ride it for a short distance to take up a more forward position rather than being caught wide without cover midfield. Trainer C. Smith advised that whilst he gave no specific instructions he was of the view that because of the way in which the race would be run, he asked apprentice Stower to ride positively in an endeavour to be in a forward position. As stewards were of the view that the way in which PERFORMIA was ridden was distinctly different from its most recent starts, Mr Smith was fined $200 under AR. 135A for failing to notify stewards of a change of tactics.

BILLABONG BIRD – Began awkwardly.

MARASKA – Bounded and lost ground after standing awkwardly in the barriers.

GOTYACOVERED – Hung in in the straight.

MR SCARY – Raced four wide without cover.

HOLY TOLEDO – Stood very awkwardly in its barrier stall, then was slow to begin. Appeared to take charge of its rider approaching the first turn, shifted out abruptly and then hung out badly for the remainder of the event. As the horse had previously offended, trainer R. Macrae was advised that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily before being permitted to start again.

SUPERSTITION – Trainer M. Dunn advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

THREE BEERS PLEASE – Inconvenienced and carried wider at the first turn.

LIBERATION – Trainer B. Lockwood advised that because of the inside barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

AMERICAN HUSSLER Raced three wide without cover.

DAZZLING HALO – Whilst parading to the start, the horse dislodged apprentice B. Grylls and galloped a short distance before being recaptured. As B. Grylls sustained an injury to her right wrist and was unfit to fulfil her engagement, DAZZLING HALO was declared a late scratching at 4.57 pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DAZZLING HALO be refunded, with the following deductions to apply:
