GENERAL
As apprentice A. Fancourt was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: GLENLOGAN PARK QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
GENERAL ASSAULT – Began awkwardly. Raced fiercely after leaving the 800m and shifted out wider on the track.
PRINCE OF FLINDERS – Brushed on the hind quarters shortly after the start. Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 400m.
SIDEREUS ATTACKS – Attempted to buck shortly after the start and shifted out abruptly. Forced wider by another runner after leaving the 800m. Eased over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Webb advised that he would give the gelding a short let up and trial the horse prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SIDERO STAR – Jumped away awkwardly and then made contact with the hind quarters of another runner.
ONE GOLDEN DAY – Hung out rounding the home turn.
PEGAPUS – Raced wide without cover throughout.
TREASURE GALLERY – Slow to begin. Had to check near the 1150m to avoid the heels of another runner. Held up rounding the home turn.
Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT RACEDAY CLASS 1 PLATE – 2240M
CARACAS – Pulled hard in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
ELIZABETH’S DREAM – Raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
PINK CHAPERONE – Held up from the 500m until straightening.
NOTHING VENTURED – Forced wider by another runner after leaving the 1000m.
Race 3: GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
ARENA SALON – Raced wide without cover.
HIGHWARD – Raced wide throughout.
MOUNTAIN MAN – Brushed by another runner near the 200m.
SUMAN THE YAK – Had to steady when disappointed for a run near the 200m and then shifted in and brushed another runner.
ARTETA – Steadied off heels and altered course near the 250m to obtain clear running and inside the 200m had to be checked to avoid heels.
EMPHASIS – Had to be steadied away from heels inside the 200m.
MAJESTIC SHADOW – Raced wide throughout.
WULFIES LADY – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse settled near the rear of the field.
DAME VAN WINKLE – J. Byrne reported that his saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
Race 4: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE BRC F&M CLASS 3 PLATE – 1110M
LEAD HUSSON – J. Stanley was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts right to the finishing line.
KATELETTE – Jumped awkwardly.
KHALEESI – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden off the pace if circumstances permit. The horse led.
SCRAP COPPER – Commenced to pull hard after leaving the 800m. Apprentice S. Eilbeck was questioned regarding the tactics she adopted after leaving the 600m. She stated that at that stage of the race the mare was travelling well and she elected to ease out to be ready to place pressure on the leaders on straightening, however her mount was then forced to race four wide. Apprentice Eilbeck agreed that she had erred by shifting out at a critical stage of the race near the 500m rather than staying in with cover.
POMPEII FLYER – Raced wide without cover.
Race 5: RELAXED RACING @ DOOMBEN C,G&E CLASS 3 PLATE – 1110M
BERNITCHY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
CANNY AND THE JET – Slow to begin.
I AM GROUSE – Restless in the stalls, reared, removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported that the horse had an abrasion to the off foreleg, however was passed fit to start.
Race 6: NOVOTEL BRISBANE AIRPORT QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1110M
POWERFUL SAGA – Attempted to improve from behind the leaders after leaving the 300m and made contact with another runner.
SHADOW LAWN – The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse was lame in the off hind leg post-race. Trainer B. Baldwin reported that the horse would now be sent for a spell, however he was advised by stewards that a veterinary clearance will be required before the horse races again.
MIRI MIRI – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore across the hind quarters.
HIGH COST – Raced wide without cover.
BEAT STREET – Became unbalanced and lost ground when being restrained passing the 900m. Bumped by another runner inside the 300m.
MY COUSIN RHETT – Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until the 200m.
KYOTO ROSE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
MISHANI CHRISTIAN – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 7: TREASURY CASINO AND HOTEL BM65 H’CAP – 1650M
FASTA THAN LIGHT – Apprentice E. Ljung reported that her saddle shifted from the 1100m to the 600m.
BRAVE DAZZLER – Apprentice J. Orman reported that it was not his intention to race forward, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward. Bumped by another runner near the 300m.
SMASHER – Slow to begin and was then hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start.
HUSSY ERIN – Had to steady away from heels near the 1200m.
Race 8: CLUB 100 BM65 H’CAP – 1350M
SHOW DAY – Connections advised stewards that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. Apprentice C. Schmidt was fined $100 for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
FUSINA – Improved to the inside near the 250m and had to be steadied when crowded for room near the 200m.
DUBAI GEE EYE – Slipped over in the tie-up stalls, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. A further veterinary examination prior to racing also cleared the horse to race.
TERIO TOOL – Shifted ground under pressure in the straight.
BE THE MAGIC – Attempted to improve to the outside of the heels of TERIO TOOL after passing the 300m but was prevented from doing so by another runner holding its position. As a result, BE THE MAGIC then shifted in, tightening another runner. Again had to alter course inside the 100m to obtain clear running and made contact with another runner.
PRINCE OF SOFIA – Got its head up when being restrained shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover.
SHE’S WORTHY – Bumped near the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was suffering heat stress.
GYPSY GOLD – Slow to begin.
AUDREE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had a cut in the offside cheek.
WISHMORE – Raced wide without cover.
