GENERAL
 
Veterinary inspections were conducted on all fillies in The Oaks in the week leading up to the race.  All horses were found to be fit to start.
 
SUPPLEMENTARY

Trainer D. Weir was fined $200 for allowing a person to handle horses trained by him when the said person was unlicensed.
 
 
Race 1: Bracken Ridge Tavern The Phoenix (Listed) – 1350m
 
MAGNUFIGHTER – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SNITZEPEG – Hung out making the home turn.  Raced wide without cover throughout.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HOLBROOK – Hung out making the home turn.
 
WIRRAWAY – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the home turn.  Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
 
CABIN FEVER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 2: JRA Bill Carter Stakes (Listed) – 1200m
 
SWEET ORPHAN –Jumped away awkwardly.  Had to be steadied near the 100m when briefly tightened for room.
 
COOL MOVER – Jumped away awkwardly and then shifted in bumping another runner.  Near the 500m had to be steadied away from heels.  Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SKATE TO PARIS – Pulled hard in the early stages.
 
PRICING POWER – Had to be steadied off heels approaching the 600m.
 
DREAM KISSES – Disappointed for a run near the 200m and then shifted back to the inside.
 
BLACK MINK – When tiring had to be steadied when tightened for room and was bumped by another runner near the 100m.  Jockey J. Lloyd was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Birchley was of the opinion that the filly was not comfortable on today’s firmer track conditions.
 
FRIENDS – Shifted out near the 100m and bumped another runner.
 
PRETTY FAST – Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3: City Property Services Spear Chief (Listed) H’Cap – 1630m
 
DOUBLE IMPACT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PAYROLL – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room.
 
MARYORE – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
BERRY DELICIOUS – Approaching the home turn had to be checked when tightened for room between MARYORE, which was taken in slightly by PINDAN PEARL and PAYROLL, which shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring TRANSPORTER.  In all the circumstances stewards did not proceed with any charges however, jockey D. Oliver (PAYROLL) was reprimanded for failing to steady his mount at that point.
 
MAN OF HIS WORD – Held up from the entrance to the straight until the 50m mark.
 
HIGH MIDNIGHT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack during the event.  As this was the second time the gelding had bled trainer J. Cummings was advised it would now incur a lifetime ban from racing.
 
TRANSPORTER – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
Race 4: Pages Event Equipment Hire P J O’Shea (Group 2) Stakes – 2200m
 
SINGLE GAZE – Began awkwardly.
 
HIGH CHURCH – Hampered when tightened for room at the start. Near the 250m had to be steadied away from the heels of CYLINDER BEACH, which lost ground quickly after suffering an injury.
 
RUDY – Near the 200m was inconvenienced by CYLINDER BEACH, which shifted out after sustaining an injury.
 
CYLINDER BEACH – Broke down passing the 250m.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding broke down near fore fetlock and was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds.  
 
PREFERMENT – Trainer C. Waller advised that the horse would now be retired.
 
 
Race 5: Amgrow Lightning (Listed) H’Cap – 1050m
 
COLINELLE – Restless in the barriers and was slow to begin.  Held up rounding the home turn.
 
UPSTART PRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
INVINCIBLE EXPRESS – Tightened for room between runners near the 1000m.  Near the 600m again had to be steadied away from heels when tightened for room.  Unable to obtain clear running in the straight.
 
SIR STATHAM – After being bumped by INVINCIBLE EXPRESS near the 350m had to be checked away from the heels of UPSTART PRIDE, which shifted out.  Jockey B. Shinn (UPSTART PRIDE) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out when not fully clear.
 
HIDDEN PEARL – Raced wide throughout.
 
HIGHLY GEARED – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
MISERY - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SNITTY KITTY – Jockey T. Clark reported his mount hung out throughout the race.
 
 
Race 6: Ascot Green Moreton Cup (Group 2) – 1200m
 
Trainer M. Dunn was fined $200 for the late declaration of T. Harrison as the rider of PERFECT DARE.
 
RAGEESE – Examined prior to the start and cleared to race. Near the 250m had to be checked away from the heels of a tiring runner.
 
SPLURGE – Examined prior to the start and cleared to race. Raced wide throughout.
 
HANDFAST – Approaching the first turn had to be steadied away from heels when pulling hard.  Steadied approaching the 150m when tightened for room by YESTERDAY’S SONGS, which shifted in after initially being taken in by THE VIRGINIAN. Jockey P. Moloney (YESTERDAY’S SONGS) was reprimanded for this incident.
 
YESTERDAY’S SONGS – Taken inwards by THE VIRGINIAN approaching the 150m.
 
SIEGFRIED – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
STRAWBERRY BOY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
FEDERAL – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 7: Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks (Group 1) – 2200m
 
ANA ROYALE – Slow to begin. Near the 700m had to be steadied away from heels.  Held up rounding the home turn and then did not obtain clear running until the 200m.
 
SHENANDOAH – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out bumping another runner.  Near the 1800m had to be steadied away from heels.  L. Cassidy (INVINCIBELLA) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not fully clear.
 
MIA ROSA – Bumped on jumping. 
 
KENEDNA – Near the 2000m had to be steadied away from heels.  Held up near the 250m.
 
BLANCO CARA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
KIRINI – Near the 700m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
PERILOUS LOVE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 8: IPG  Marketing Solutions Helen Coughlan (Listed) Stakes – 1200m
 
MATERNAL – Examined prior to the start and cleared to race. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
MARAAM – Near the 850m was tightened for room between runners and had to be steadied.  Near the 400m was bumped by another runner.
 
BANDA SPICE – Pulled hard in the middle stages.  Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BONNY O’REILLY – Held up rounding the home turn and then secured a narrow run to the inside of SLUMBER PARTY on straightening.
 
KINSHACHI – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SLUMBER PARTY – Bumped on several occasions in the early stages of the straight.
 
DEE NINE ELLE - Bumped on several occasions in the early stages of the straight.
 
INSPIRED ESTELLE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
FRILL SEEKING – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  Trainer M. Smith was advised that prior to the mare racing again he must produce the results of an ECG and it must trial satisfactorily.
