SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Gold Coast 16.12.17 – Race 5: Trainer B. Guy reported that NICQUILITY, which tailed out, had subsequently undergone an endoscopic examination which failed to detect any abnormality. Mr Guy indicated that he would give the horse one more start this preparation before deciding on whether to continue with its campaign.
 
Race 1: BECOME A MEMBER @ BRC F&M MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
SPRING GLORY – Slow into stride. Raced three wide without cover.
 
DAFEENAH – Overraced  in the early and middle stages, refused to settle and was restrained to a rearward position.
 
PLAY THING – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1000m.
 
CINZIA – Slow into stride.
 
Race 2: HAMILTON HOTEL C,G&E MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
MASTER MAGIC AL – Bumped heavily near the 1000m and then overraced for some distance thereafter.
 
MEANER – Bumped heavily near the 1000m. Raced three wide without cover. Inconvenienced and carried wider on the home turn. Steadied near the 300m and shifted out to avoid the heels of GRAND WHISPER, which shifted out abruptly. B. Grylls, the rider of GRAND WHISPER, was reprimanded.
 
SHINING BLUE – Raced four wide without cover. Inconvenienced and carried wider on the home turn.
 
ENGRAVED – Trainer B. Hill was questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance. He stated that he had worked the gelding with blinkers since its poor performance at the Sunshine Coast and he believed that this gear change may have attributed to the improved showing.
 
GRAND WHISPER – Steadied from heels just prior to straightening. Shifted out abruptly near the 300m.
 
Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1350M
 
CHAPPO – M. Cahill explained that his instructions were to be positive on the horse in the early stages. He said that shortly after beginning, with a number of runners showing speed to his inside, he was concerned that he would have been left racing three wide, therefore he felt his best option was to allow the horse to stride forward and cross to the lead.
 
LOOKS LIKE ELVIS – Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed in the early stages.
 
LOTA CREEK GOLD – Inconvenienced approaching the 1000m. Raced three wide without cover.
 
B. Pengelly will be interviewed in relation to his action with the whip behind the barriers.

 
Race 4: SKY RACING CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1660M
 
NORDIC SHOW – Raced three wide without cover.
 
IOWA – Kicked whilst parading behind the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and deemed suitable to race. Slow to begin.
 
BEERINAWINEGLASS – Held up behind BRICKHALL shortly after straightening, had to be steadied and shifted back in to secure clear running
 
USENA – Shortly after straightening, when laying in, had to be steadied from the heels of IOWA, which shifted out, and then hung in for the remainder of the straight.
 
VIVID PINK – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
REAL GANADOR – Hampered slightly after the 400m.
 
Race 5: GIRLS DAY OUT C,G&E BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1200M
 
CASINO THOUGHTS – Slow into stride. Became unbalanced when racing tight inside JOBIWOOD near the 700m.
 
ZENDAYE – Apprentice B. Thornton was fined $200 for using the whip 10 times prior to the 100m.
 
MORE THAN MONEY – Slow into stride. Became unbalanced when crowded for room near the 700m.
 
MAKE A RULER – Crowded for room near the 100m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 6: NOVOTEL BRISBANE AIRPORT C,G&E BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1200M
 
PRIORITISE – Began awkwardly.
 
BEAUDRAGON – Lost both hind scalping rings leaving the 800m.
 
ROCKY SUPREME – Hung in in the straight.
 
SUGAR RAY RED – Hung out badly in the home straight and was unable to be ridden out.
 
HETUKA ZARSHO – Steadied near the 700m when crowded for room.
 
Race 7: ASCOT GREEN CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1660M
 
The start of this race was delayed when the near fore plate on WHO’S YOUR DADDY had to be refitted behind the barriers.
 
RED SCARLET – Shifted to the inside of ELSARAY on straightening but was then disappointed when that horse shifted in slightly. Then shifted out into running between ELSARAY and BRONZED VENOM and was again checked when disappointed for that run when BRONZED VENOM shifted in slightly away from WHO’S YOUR DADDY.
 
ELSARAY – Overraced badly in the early and middle stages.
 
WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Slow to begin.
 
EIGHT BELOW – Raced greenly in the straight and was difficult to ride out.
 
REALLY SURE – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer B. Laming was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare.
 
Race 8: WWW.BRC.COM.AU F&M BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1200M
 
LIPSYNC – Apprentice B. Thornton reported that as soon as the horse began the saddle on the mare slipped back quite noticeably and as he was concerned to continue to ride safely, he immediately commenced to restrain the mare from the event.
 
SUBSOLAR – Slow to muster speed.
 
HONEY HOLT – Slow to muster speed.
 
Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M
 
The start of this race was delayed when FANX proved very difficult to load. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding.
 
MAN IN CHARGE – Slow into stride.
 
CRACKACHARGE – M. McGillivray reported that his mount hung out from the 800m.
 
FANX – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, however the veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had lost the off hind plate and loosened the near hind plate.
 
I AM IMPINGE – Connections advised that from the wide barrier and with blinkers on the gelding would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse led.
 
CAPO DI TUTTI – Steadied shortly after the start. Apprentice R. Ride reported that her saddle shifted forward in the early stages, resulting in the horse proving difficult to settle, and for this reason she elected to shift wider on the track. The horse then raced three wide without cover thereafter.
 
NORTHERN DIVINE – Hung out badly from the 800m and then shifted ground on straightening and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight.
