BOINGO – Whilst overracing had to be steadied from heels near the 1000m.

CHOREOGRAPH – Began awkwardly.

BEAT THE BEAST – Jockey J. Lloyd explained his intention was to be further forward than he would be positioned. He stated the gelding began awkwardly and was a little slow to muster speed and from the draw he was of the view he would end up racing 3 wide with cover behind DREAM WILDER. When that horse shifted in, as he did not want to be left 3 wide, behind KENDALL’S DREAM which did not stride forward resulting in him racing further back than anticipated, he decided approaching the first turn rather than to remain 3 wide behind KENDALL’S DREAM, to restrain and shift back to the rail to save ground, which he felt at that time was the better option than racing wide.

LADY BING – Steadied when disappointed for a run on straightening, and shifted to the outside of the heels of BLACKMAILER and was again steadied when that horse shifted out slightly. Then held up until approaching the 100m.

KENDALL’S DREAM – Raced 3 wide without cover.

SONIC BOOM – Jockey S Doyle was asked to comment on the performance of the gelding. He indicated that the horse did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and was under heavy pressure approaching the 600m and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of being extremely dehydrated.

DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE – Raced 3 wide without cover. Jockey M. McGillivray was asked to explain the tactics adopted in the early stages of the race. He stated that after beginning well he anticipated being able to cross to the lead and was confident his mount would show sufficient speed to do so. He said DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE did not continue to muster sufficient speed for him to cross and became aware of HAPPY HOOVES, which was following, had improved up inside of him, which did not allow him sufficient clearance to cross those runners and as a result he was left racing 3 wide. Jockey McGillivray stated to stewards that he had erred by not continuing to press forward and should have made more use of the horse to cross runners to his inside rather than being left 3 wide. Jockey McGillivray was advised by the stewards they were of the view with the benefit of hindsight it would have been far better if he had improved and progressed to cross to the lead rather than being left 3 wide.

RED PRINCE – Raced 3 wide.
