GENERAL
 
As J. Lloyd was injured Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: Carlton Mid QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
SHOOTING LOVEwas declared a late scratching at 10.30 a.m. by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the filly was injured in the float en route to the track. Trainer B. Currie was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly racing again.
 
ZIGALLENE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m after being crossed by HIT SNOOZE shifted out and raced greenly for the remainder of the event.
 
HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
THIRD MARTINI – Bumped and tightened for room on jumping. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run to the outside of ZIGALLENE and had to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
BUNCHED – Passing the 1000m had to be steadied when cramped for room by ZIGALLENE, which shifted in approaching the 900m. Passing the 900m had to be steadied away from the heels of ZIGALLENE, which shifted out. Jockey B. Ainsworth (ZIGALLENE) was advised to exercise greater care. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
SUMMER SALT – Passing the 900m when racing keenly was slightly tightened for racing room and became unbalanced for a short distance.
 
HOWITZER – Whilst racing greenly threw its head up passing the 300m.
 
Race 2: Sirromet QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
BELASTRO – Stood flatfooted and then shortly after jumping was severely hampered and lost considerable ground.
 
ARJAYAR – Began very awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with BELASTRO. Raced greenly throughout and in the early stages overraced when being restrained. After passing the 400m commenced to weaken when placed under pressure and finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer P. Duff reported that he may experiment with the addition of blinkers in a barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow to begin.
 
STAR CENTRE – Got its head up in the early stages when being restrained. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
BALLISTIC BOY – After passing the 400m commenced to lay out.
 
LUCKY SENATOR – Approaching the 250m was slightly inconvenienced and disappointed for a run.
 
Race 3: Schweppes Class 4 Handicap – 1666m
 
SO YOU WISH -  Bumped on jumping. Whilst under pressure and weakening was tightened for room and severely hampered passing the 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings
 
FOXY AFFAIR – Bumped on jumping. When the pace slackened quite noticeably after passing the 1000m shifted three wide to improve.
 
FORT MYER – Overraced whilst in the lead in the early and middle stages of the event. Approaching the 500m was bumped by the hind quarters of FOXY AFFAIR, which turned FOXY AFFAIR in causing FORT MYER to be tightened for room. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained some minor lacerations to its near hind leg and was mildly lame. Trainer S. Pedron was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND – Had a tendency to hang out passing the 600m. Passing the 500m had to be steadied away from the heels of FORT MYER.
 
Jockey D. Smith (FOXY AFFAIR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131 in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 500m tightening the running of FORT MYER, which had to be checked, became unbalanced and lost ground. Jockey Smith’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 20 March 2019 and expire midnight 29 March 2019.
 
Race 4: Ipswich Cup Tix On Sale Maiden Handicap – 1666m
 
TAVERNE – Slow to begin.
 
ZODIAC STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
MORE OF MARY – After passing the 1200m when the pace slackened shifted three wide and was ridden forward to take up a position outside the lead passing the 900m.
 
MISS KREY ZEE – After passing the 600m commenced to lay in when being ridden along and continued to hang in for the remainder of the event.
 
WILLIAM – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
HANYA - A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting a post race cough. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that the results of an endoscopic examination and a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
 
Race 5: River 94.9 FM Maiden Plate – 1100m
 
MEANERwas declared a late scratching at 10.58 a.m. by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the gelding received treatment for a high temperature. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
After being loaded into the barriers VEGA ONE got its near hind leg up in the gates, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. VEGA ONE again got its near hind leg up simultaneously as the start was effected.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow the Stewards to view the footage of the start to ascertain whether VEGA ONE was denied a fair start. After viewing the footage the Stewards were satisfied that other than for its own manners it was afforded a fair start and therefore declared a runner.
 
VEGA ONE – Got its near hind leg up and began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Passing the 900m when in a trailing position commenced to overrace and had to be steadied away from heels. Continued to overrace and got its head up for a considerable distance.
 
LITTLE BEE – Slow into stride.
 
FORTUNATE DECREE – Passing the 900m was bumped and shifted wider on the track.
 
BEATRICE WAS LOVED – Passing the 900m was inconvenienced and forced wider on the track.
 
MORGAUSE – Hung out rounding the home turn and was bumped on the hind quarters by ROCK’N’ROLL MUSIC.
 
ROCK’N’ROLL MUSIC – Upon straightening was bumped by MORGAUSE.
 
MILLARD REACTION – Approaching the 100m took fright and shifted out abruptly. When pulling up shied and dislodged App J. Guthmann-Chester, resulting in him suffering a harmless fall. App Guthmann-Chester was examined by the QAS and Club Doctor and cleared of any obvious injury.
 
Race 6: Ray White Ipswich BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1000m
 
DUTCH GAL – Blundered on jumping. Passing the 150m put in an awkward stride. The rider reported that during the race the mare was making an abnormal noise and a post race veterinary examination revealed it was exhibiting a poor post race recovery.  Trainer T. White was advised that the results of an endoscopic examination and a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
 
DINNIGAN – Bumped on jumping.
 
TWILIGHT MANEUVER - After beginning fairly and settling towards the rear of the field commenced to overrace and became very awkwardly placed at the heels of VIVID IMAGE passing the 900m and in doing so shifted out making contact with SMARTYPY.
 
INDY BONBON – Passing the 900m made heavy contact with VIVID IMAGE.
 
VIVID IMAGE – Bumped passing the 900m.
 
SMARTYPY – For a short distance passing the 900m was bumped on a number of occasions by TWILIGHT MANEUVER.
 
MISS BLUMENTHAL – Passing the 600m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
Race 7: Queensland Times BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1350m
.
VON RICHTER – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1000m had to be steadied away from the heels of SATAN DA.
 
CRAZY POPS – Bumped on jumping.
 
MONEY TALK – Slow into stride. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
SATAN DA – Passing the 1100m when ridden forward in an attempt to find the lead laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
HIDDEN BUDGET – Passing the 900m had to be steadied and restrained from the heels of SATAN DA, which shifted in when not fully clear.
 
THEY CALL ME ROSE – Passing the 900m became awkwardly placed when cramped for room by HIDDEN BUDGET, which was taken in by SATAN DA. Jockey L. Tarrant (SATAN DA) was issued with a reprimand for shifting in when not fully clear.
 
Race 8: Channel Seven Class 5 Handicap – 1200m
 
The start was delayed when FANX proved difficult to load.
 
HAPPY HOOVES – Turned its head as the start was effected, began awkwardly and lost ground. In the middle stages when the pace slackened had to be restrained from heels. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight before shifting wider passing the 300m to improve.
 
BOILING – Threw its head in the air as the start was effected. In the middle stages when the pace slackened had to be restrained from heels. Held up for clear running from the home turn until a point passing the 150m.
 
SIR MAGIC – Passing the 800m when racing in a rearward position shifted three wide with cover.
 
FELINO BEL – After passing the 300m was disappointed for a run and then again passing the 200m had to be steadied away from the heels of SIR MAGIC, which shifted in. App M. Murphy (SIR MAGIC) was reprimanded for shifting in when not fully clear.
 
CANBERRA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
FANX – When questioned regarding the manner in which he rode his mount out over the concluding stages R. Fradd explained that he stopped riding his mount after passing the 100m when he had concerns that if he continued to ride his mount along he would have been awkwardly placed at the heels of SIR MAGIC, which was continually shifting in. He further added that he was of the opinion that his mount’s run had come to an end and being out of contention he desisted form pressuring his mount in the run to the line. Stewards accepted his explanation.
