Race 1: HAPPY RETIREMENT REDZEL MAIDEN PLATE – 2240M
 
The start of this race was delayed when LOCAL GOSSIP, which reared in the barriers, underwent a veterinary inspection and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
CAIRNDOW – Bumped by LOCAL GOSSIP near the 1000m.
 
LIKEABEEL – Laid in under pressure from the 450m.
 
RECALL EVENTS – Checked whilst tiring near the 400m. After inquiring into this incident apprentice A. Thompson, the rider of STEEL PIER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift to the inside of CAIRNDOW near the 400m when there was insufficient room, causing tightening to RECALL EVENTS, which had to be checked as a result. Apprentice Thompson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, commencing midnight Saturday 25 April and expiring midnight Wednesday 6 May 2020.
 
THE SEVEN FALLS – Slow to begin.
 
LOCAL GOSSIP – Shifted out near the 1000m in an attempt to improve and made contact with CAIRNDOW. Held up for clear running passing the 600m.
 
Race 2: TAB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
As B. Stewart was unable to fulfil his engagement on FOX TERRIER due to reasons accepted by stewards, J. Bayliss was substituted as the rider of the gelding.
 
ASBURY PARK - Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover and raced greenly throughout.
 
FOX TERRIER – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
KIPCHOGE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.
 
SYNZ – Laid in from the 600m onwards.
 
BRIGHT COPPER – Slow to begin. Raced wide and raced greenly throughout.
 
HAMILTON HILL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHOOTING ROSES – Inconvenienced in the home straight approaching the 100m.
 
TRUST IN ALOHA – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground, causing its rider to become unbalanced. Raced greenly throughout the event.
 
Race 3: THANK YOU SCHOOL TEACHERS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
SUPERARE – Significantly slow to begin.
 
CONTINUUM – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LADY GRAZIER – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Inconvenienced near the 100m when SIP IT SLOW shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
OSHUN – Slow to begin.
 
SIP IT SLOW – Tightened for room near the 900m. Placed in restricted room to the inside of LADY GRAZIER leaving he 700m when inclined to hang out, and as a result had to be restrained near the 600m. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of LADY GRAZIER, was reprimanded for this incident.
 
WON CAPILANO – Placed in restricted room whilst racing greenly and was checked near the 900m. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of LADY GRAZIER, was reprimanded for this incident. Raced greenly throughout and was checked from heels near the 600m.
 
Race 4: GENERAL NEDIYM MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
CENTRAL AMERICA, which refused to load, was declared a late scratching 1:10 pm. Trainer S. O’Dea was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for CENTRAL AMERICA prior to it racing again. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on LADY CENTRAL AMERICA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:10 pm:
 
20 cent in the dollar for the win #4
16 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4
18 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8
17 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
DURUNDUR LAD – Held up from the 400m onwards and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ – Began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 700m.
 
MORE THAN LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
AROSEFORZOU – Slow to begin.
 
KOKOPO KITTY – When attempting to obtain clear running in the home straight was disappointed when improving to the inside of WINDCHILL and as a result had to be checked.
 
WINDCHILL – Raced wide without cover whilst inclined to hang out. Jockey J. Orman reported that during the event his saddle slipped to the side, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
GEOVANNI – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 5: MOSSMAN QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350M
 
CELLARMAID – Significantly slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
EMOTIVE MOUNTAIN – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 6: WRITTEN TYCOON CLASS 1 PLATE – 1350M
 
CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Raced wide without cover and laid out from the 600m.
 
IAMICAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be sore in the near hind leg and to have lost the off hind plate. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.
 
ZAMZARA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 7: LION HUNTER BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1650M
 
The start of this race was delayed when KEREMA MORI required farrier attention behind the barriers.
 
CHECKMATE LAD – Became awkward shortly after the start when bumped on the hind quarters by NICHOLAS.
 
NICHOLAS – Tightened for room on jumping away, made heavy contact with the hind quarters of CHECKMATE LAD and as a result lost ground.
 
ENTERPRISE JACK – Shifted wider near the 800m to avoid heels and raced wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
JOYMAKER – Slow to begin.
 
COMBATIVITE – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
COULDN’T REFUSE – Jumped away awkwardly, inconveniencing COMBATIVITE and NICHOLAS.
 
KEREMA MORI – Bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first time the mare had bled it will be ineligible to start for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
DASHING SPECIAL – Forced wider approaching the 800m and then was steadied shortly afterwards to obtain cover. Improved on to heels near the 400m and had to be steadied.
 
Race 8: BRAVE WARRIOR BENCHMARK 62 H'CAP – 1050M
 
THE WILD ONE – Overraced approaching the first turn.
 
SIMPLY SO – Slow to begin and then was tightened shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Raced wide and forced wider near the 700m.
 
VON ROSEN – Steadied when tightened for room near the 850m.
 
SUPER FREAK – Forced wider near the 800m.
 
CALL ME STIRLING – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide and was forced wider near the 700m.
 
SKYE AND ME – Slow to begin. Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
Race 9: SHOW A HEART BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1200M
 
CORAL BAY – Slow to begin.
 
BERING SEA – Slow to begin.
 
RAMTASTIC – Slow to begin.
 
COPYWRITER – Checked near the 1100m. After stewards considered the evidence provided, jockey A. Allen, the rider of ALL IMPORTANT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he shifted his mount in near the 1100m at an acute angle, tightening the running of HOLLABACK GIRL, forcing that horse in on to MOONAN JOYCE, which in turn was forced in on to the rightful running of COPYWRITER, causing that horse to be checked. Jockey Allan’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 16 days, commencing midnight Saturday 25 April and expiring midnight Monday 11 May 2020.
 
HOLLABACK GIRL – Tightened for room near the 1100m and forced in on to MOONAN JOYCE.
 
MOONAN JOYCE – Overraced for a short distance near the 900m. Tightened for room near the 1100m and forced in on to COPYWRITER.
 
Jockey L. Tarrant pleaded guilty to a charge under AR115(1)(a) in that he misconducted himself after being involved in a verbal altercation with jockey L. Cassidy in the vicinity of the scales area by head-butting jockey Cassidy, resulting in his helmet making contact with the nose of jockey Cassidy and causing jockey Cassidy an injury. Jockey Tarrant was disqualified for a period of 6 months, commencing immediately and to expire on Thursday 22 October 2020. In considering penalty, stewards took into account the significant contact to jockey Cassidy and also the breach of the COVID-19 social distancing protocols currently in place, and the potential for his actions to have an adverse effect on the racing industry.
 
Race 10: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 62 H'CAP – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed when SHINNECOCK proved difficult to load.
 
SHINNECOCK – Proved difficult to load. Tightened for room near the 1000m and had to be steadied. Trainer L. Gough was advised that he will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for SHINNECOCK prior to it racing again.
 
JACKPOT – Raced wide throughout.
 
FEARLESS QUEEN – Slow to begin.
 
PIGINARKI – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
