Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 3 Handicap 1350 metres
 
METAMORPHIC – Approaching the 900m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained from the heels of BUBBLES BALL and shifted out for a short distance. Over the concluding stages was taken wider by EXPRESS FANTASY which shifted out under pressure.
 
EXPRESS FANTASY - Over the concluding stages shifted out under pressure.
 
BUBBLES BALL – Was taken wider by another runner over the concluding stages.
 
DOLLAREURO – Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey R Fradd reported at scale that his mount proved disappointing and that when placed under pressure in the home straight and failed to respond to his riding. When tiring was inconvenienced near the 100m.
 
 
Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL Maiden Handicap 1660 metres
 
AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY –Restrained on jumping from a wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.  Over-raced in the early stages whist being restrained and continued for some distance approaching and passing the 1200m.
 
ELGIN (NZ) - Restrained on jumping from a wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail. 
 
EXPRESS DREAMS (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted in approaching the 900m and contacted the inside running rail. Approaching the 800m had to be steadied from heels of TRUMPED UP.
 
BELLARINE – Jockey L Dittman reported that his mount after traveling well in a position behind the leaders, when the pace quickened approaching the home turn the mare failed to respond to his riding.
 
METRICAL – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
EAGLES FOREVER – Raced ungenerously in early stages and approaching the 1300m hung out. Hung out rounding the home turn allowing TRUMPED UP to gain a run to its inside.
 
STELLAR – Trainer S Morrisey advised Stewards that filly will be ridden further back than its previous starts. Was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m whilst following EXPRESS DREAMS which hit the inside running rail, shifted out abruptly and became awkward at the heels METRICAL and had to be steadied.
 
Race 3: XXXX DRY QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
COULOMB (NZ) – Approaching the 400m had to be severely checked from the heels of the tiring ZOOMARATTA and shifted out abruptly.
 
READY TO CHASE – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
REBEL CAUSE – Passing the 800m was eased when racing in restricted room to the inside of BAVARIAN MISS. Jockey T Wolfgram reported that after being placed in restricted room passing the 800m his mount failed to respond to his ridinthis took no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J Zielke was advised that warning would be placed on the gelding for performing poorly.
 
ZOOMARATTA – Was fractious in the barriers. Weakened from the 400m. Was inconvenienced passing the 150m and had to be steadied from the heels of BAVARIAN MISS. Jockey J Bayliss could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding other than it may be suited racing over a further distance than that of today’s. A post-race vet examination revealed no apparent abnormities.
 
TYCOON EVIE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
DAPHNE FRANCES – Bumped heavily on jumping. Jockey R Maloney was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DAPHNE FRANCES which had to be checked and lost ground.  Jockey R Maloney’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 30 August 2020 and expire midnight 8 September 2020.
 
 
Race 4: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Maiden Plate 1110 metres
 
KID MAC – Raced 3 wide without cover
 
SEWELO – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to shift in when crowed for room approaching the 850m. Restrained from the heels of SHOOTING FOR GOLD (App J Huxtable) near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its off foreleg. Trainer S Kendrick was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance before racing again.
 
FLEUR DE JOUR –Obliged to shift in when crowed for room approaching the 850m.
 
EL NOIR (NZ) – Obliged to shift in when crowed for room approaching the 850m.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS - App J Huxtable (SHOOTING FOR GOLD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 850m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SEWELLO which was taken in onto FLEUR , tightening those runners and resulting BAUHINIA BEANS being severely checked and lost ground. Apprentice J Huxtable license to ride in races was suspended for a period of Fifteen (15) days to commence midnight 3 September 2020 and expire midnight 18 September 2020. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SCRUFF’N’STUFF – Significantly slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: CASCADE Class 4 Handicap 1660 metres
 
ALDERMAN – Shifted in away from SLOW HANDS over the final stages and contacted MANTELLI which prevented him riding the gelding out with his normal vigour.
 
ARTERIAL – Hung out for the major part of the race.
 
SAYL (GB) – Over-raced in the middle stages of the event
 
MANTELLI – Trainer C Waller advised Stewards that if circumstances permitted will lead the race. When questioned Jockey J Byrne advised Stewards that he did not ride with any vigour from the barriers and was able to cross to the lead in the early stages. He further added that the gelding raced fiercely in the early stages and despite his efforts led by a considerable distance in the middle stages. He further added that the racing manners of the gelding had a bearing on the gelding tiring over the final stages.
 
 
Race 6: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres
 
B Stewart was unable to ride as he was stood down by the club doctor. Stewards approved Ron Stewart to replace him on HEARTS LIFTED.
 
VOULAIT – Blundered on jumping.
 
KILLERMAN’S RUN – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
AHEADOFHISTIME – Held up rounding the home turn and early part of the straight until passing the 100m. After passing the 100m was further disappointed when attempting a narrow run to between TOURMASTER and KILLERMAN’S RUN, before being able to improve over the concluding stages.
 
PAPER TRADE – Raced 3 wide with cover.
 
HEARTS LIFTED – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
MISS BENETEAU – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in during the home straight until the inside the 100m, this prevented L Tarrant from riding the mare out with his normal vigour.
 
 
Race 7: KIRIN Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BEACHBREAK – Near the 600m improved on to the heels of SHEZANDI AS and had to be steadied.
 
SHEZANDI AS – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
CANDY FLOSS (NZ) – M Du Plessis was dislodged during the preliminary and underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination at the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
DENCH – Raced 3 wide with cover.
 
OUR ARIANA – Hung out rounding the first turn near the 900m.
 
PADDLES – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bled during race, as this was the second occasion the mare had suffered a bleeding attack it will now be ineligible to start in any race under the provisions of AR79.
 
 
Race 8: THE VILLAGE KITCHEN ASCOT Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap
 
MCCOVEY COVE – R Maloney was dislodged during the preliminary and underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination at the barriers and was cleared to start
 
DR WHY NOT – Bumped on several occasions with SKILORD passing the 600m.
 
HUSSONMAN – Put in several awkward strides near the 850m shifted out and become unbalanced and lost ground.
 
SKILORD (NZ) – Rider Jag Guthmann-Chester reported that the horse was more fractious in its pre-race manners in today. He added that after receiving bumping in the early and middle stages he believed it had a detrimental effect on the geldings ability to finish off the race. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ANKARA FOX – Slow to begin. Eased when tightened for room near the 800m.
 
WEALTH’N’POWER – Was held up in the early part of the straight and when passing the 300m was checked from the heels of SKILORD, became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly.
