Race 1: EAGLE FARM'S BACK 12TH DECEMBER Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
REALITY – Near the 100m put in an awkward stride. Jockey L Cassidy was reprimanded for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
CRAZY EYED FRED – Commenced to over race when the pace steadied approaching 800m.
 
BASIL JUNIOR – Began awkwardly and shifted out and contacted BOOMNOVA. Over raced in the early stages and approaching the 800m was restrained from the heels of HIGH HANDED.
 
BOOMNOVA – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start by BASIL JUNIOR. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
SHE'S AN EAGLE – Slow to begin.
 
LEO THE LION – Raced three wide without cover throughout
 
SYDNEY ANGUS – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer B Brown was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 2: BRENT KIELLY MEMORIAL QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
MISHANI MISS – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
BOOMBRASSTIC – Near the 400m shifted wider to improve. Jockey R Fradd was fined $300 for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m which is 2 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
MISTRESS OF DOOM – Held up for clear running rounding home turn and soon after entering the straight was disappointed for a run between ZINGALONG and BOOMBRASSTIC and shifted to the outside to improve.
 
BLEU ZEBRA – Approaching the 400m was inconvenienced and was steadied to avoid the heels of IOLITE which shifted out momentarily.
 
PATTY'S FORTUNE – Near the 400m was forced wider on the track by CIVITAS which was taken out by BOOMBRASSTIC. Rider R Fradd (BOOMBRASTIC) was reminded of his obligations when allowing his mounts to shift ground.
 
CIVITAS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 400m was shifted wider by BOOMBRASSTIC which shifted out to improve.
 
 
Race 3: ROKU GIN F&M BM 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MISHANI BLOSSOM – Began awkwardly. Passing the 200m dropped his near side rein momentarily.
 
UNDERWOOD – Began awkwardly.
 
SOUBRETTE – Bounded slightly on jumping, over raced in the early and middle stages when obliged to race three wide without cover.
 
CANUSEE – Was held up rounding the home turn when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
COTTON FIELDS – Over raced approaching and passing the 800m and had to be restrained from the heels of UNDERWOOD. Rider R Maloney reported that the mare was not suited in today’s track conditions.
 
THE DARLING – Rider M Cahill reported that the filly was marginally slow to begin but then was ridden forward to take up a favourable trailing position. He added that prior to the home turn when he applied pressure to the filly it failed to respond and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
 
Race 4: TAB VENUE MODE C,G&E BM 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MINTED – From the wide barrier was restrained to find a position closer to the rail.
 
VOULAIT – Raced three wide without cover throughout
 
DENARIUS – Held up rounding the home turn until a point passing the 200m
 
SPENDING MY TIME – Over raced in the early stages
 
THE LAUNCHER – Held up rounding the home turn until a point passing the 200m. Near the 100m was disappointed for clear running between MINTED and SWEEPING THE BOARD.
 
PLATINUM EUROS – Over raced in the early stages. Rider G Boss reported that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo set in the middle stages and stated that when the sprint home commenced the gelding was left flat footed and he was satisfied with its finishing effort. He further added that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited over distances further than that of today’s.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings.A post-race swab was also taken for analysis.
 
SWEEPING THE BOARD – Change of tactics: further back from wide barrier; ridden accordingly. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: RACECOURSE VILLAGE DOOMBEN MILE 1640 metres
 
SNITCH –An explanation was sought from rider G Boss regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding which led today which is contrast to its recent starts. He stated that the gelding began extremely well and was keen in the early stages and lead without being pressured. Trained T Gollan stated that he instructed rider G boss to ride the gelding where comfortable as it’s up in distance today and was satisfied with the gelding leading.
 
SCATHING – Commenced to weaken passing the 400m and was eased down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have atrial fibrillation.
SCATHING shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory Veterinary report with the results of an ECG performed at rest and a cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory official trial. The matter will now be referred to the QRIC Veterinarian Department. Trainer C Munce reported to Stewards that after arriving back at the stables the gelding had undergone an endoscopic examination which revealed it to have suffered an internal bleed and will now be sent for a spell.
 
COUNTESS DE GALVEZ – Near the 1300m was crowded for room by SNITCH and as a result shifted out and bumped with TARBERT and then commenced to race keenly.
 
Race 6: 6 NUTURF Class 2 Handicap 1640 metres
 
DEGAS – App J Huxtable was fined $400 for use of the whip 8 times prior to the 100m which is 3 times more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
RUN ON – Raced wide without cover throughout
 
SILESIAN – Passing the 900m when the pace slackened, improved between DON’T STOP and FELZONE where there was insufficient room and had to be checked. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
SO YOU SHOP – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and settle in the position outside the leader near the 1000m. Performed below market expectation. Rider B Thompson reported that his mount raced wide in the early stages and was not suited by the steady tempo in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of gelding did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
SOKUDO – Checked at the start when tightened between WILLY BE LUCKY and FELZONE.
 
NIC NAT NUI – Began awkwardly and bumped FELZONE. Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider M Rodd stated that after racing wide throughout, the gelding failed to finish the event off. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified a slower than expected recovery from racing.
 
INSIDE INFORMATION – After being slow to begin was then hampered.
 
WILLY BE LUCKY – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters at the start.
 
 
Race 7: GUINEAS ROOM UNVEILING 12TH DECEMBER Class 4 Plate 1350 metres
 
 
BROCKY – Over raced in the early stages.
 
COULDN'T REFUSE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 200m.
 
STYLISH SAGA – Near the 200m had to be eased momentarily to avoid the heels of COULDN’T REFUSE which shifted out when not quite clear to do so. Rider J Byrne was reminded of his obligations when allowing his mounts to shift ground.
 
QUOTANT – Near the 1100m was eased when tightened for room to the inside of COULDN’T REFUSE which was taken in momentarily by ANGUS THE BLACK (R Maloney). Stewards advised rider R Maloney to exercise greater care to his fellow riders.
 
DEE DAY DIVA – Approaching the 600m when over racing had to be restrained from the heels of TOOMAI. Rider M Du Plesiss reported that the mare hung out for most of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not identify any abnormal findings. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the ensuing days.
