SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GOLD COAST 19/12/2020 – RACE 7: AMALGAMATED CONCRETE REPAIR SPECIALISTS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HCP - 1200m

MAKEUP – Trainer G Doughty reported that MAKEUP had pulled up well since it’s disappointing performance. He added that the mare had eaten up well and it would be his intention to press on with its campaign. He further added he may send bloods away for analysis and would report back to stewards on the results.

Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE F&M Maiden Plate 1350m

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when MARLA JANE was fractious in the barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the presence of blood in one nostril sustained due to trauma. Acting on veterinary advice, MARLA JANE was declared a late scratching at 1.27pm. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 1.27pm as following:

0 cents in the dollar of all win bets #6 (ENOLABA LASS)
6 cents in the dollar of all place bets #6 (ENOLABA LASS)
1 cent in the dollar of all place bets #7 (KOLLUR)
14 cents in the dollar of all place bets #1 (EVITA LA VIE)

Trainer B Baldwin was advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced prior to MARLA JANE starting in any race or trial.

EVITA LA VIE – Severely hampered on jumping when MARTO shifted in abruptly. Over the concluding stages, was inclined to shift in inconveniencing BETCHA BABY.

SUZY NEEDS LOVIN' – Raced wide without cover. Overraced in the early stages.

BETCHA BABY – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when EVITA LA VIE shifted in marginally.

MARTO – Began awkwardly shifting in bumping with EVITA LA VIE. Overraced in the early stages and shifted out near the 800m despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 700m, was unable to be restrained off the heels of TWOGOBOOM and shifted out and as a result was forced to race three wide from that point on.

MY FAVOURITE MODEL – Lost its off hind plate during the event.

ROMAN REIGN – Hampered on jumping. Held up in the early part of the home straight.

Race 2: HELLBENT FIRST CROP AT MAGIC MILLIONS C,G&E Maiden Plate 1350m

A BIG CHANCE – Raced wide without cover. Contacted heavily at the 250m when DARING MAN shifted out to gain clear running.

SYDNEY ANGUS – Trainer B Brown was advised that SYDNEY ANGUS’ nominations would now be refused in metropolitan regions until it shows consistent form at provincial tracks. Trainer B Brown stated that SYDNEY ANGUS would now be retired.

TRIANGULUM – When loading, broke through the gates before being quickly recaptured. Subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

ASBURY PARK – After riding with some vigour early from a wide barrier to take up the lead soon after the start, rider R Stewart was unable to restrain ASBURY PARK, which was racing in blinkers for the first time, and despite his efforts he could not slow the gelding and weakened noticeably as a result soon after straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and signs of mild heat stress.

DARING MAN – Restrained at the start to race at the rear of the field and to obtain a position closer to the rail. Held up for clear running near the early part of the home straight and passing the 250m, shifted out and made heavy contact with A BIG CHANCE. As a result, rider A Mallyon had to shift inwards and alter his course to gain clear running.

DELAYED LAUNCH – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.

SIR EX BE – Passing the 300m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of the weakening ASBURY PARK. When questioned regarding the poor performance, rider L Cassidy could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3: BEST BRED BOOMS SELL IN 2021 Class 5 Handicap 1200m

MOUNTBATTEN – Jumped awkwardly shifting inwards hampering CLOCKWISE.

NORTHERN KNIGHT – Slow to begin.

CLOCKWISE – Hampered on jumping when MOUNTBATTEN shifted in. Raced wide early stages.

Race 4: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM BRC QTIS 3-Y-O BM70 Handicap 1350m

VERBAL ASSAULT – Change of tactics – To lead if circumstances permit; settled off pace with cover. Near the 1000m had to be restrained from the heels of JETTY when the pace steadied.

LITTLE MISS PIXIE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Obliged to alter course leaving the 200m and over the final stages was disappointed for a run between VERBAL ASSAULT and BELTARIA and had to shift to the outside of BELTARIA to improve into clear running.

GULLFOSS – Slow to begin.

Race 5: NEW YEAR'S EVE AT EAGLE FARM Class 2 Handicap 1650m

RUDDOCK – Rider J Byrne reported that RUDDOCK felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages and upon pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin.

ADELASE – Rider M Du Plessis was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

FORTIFIED – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier partition.

Race 6: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Class 1 Handicap 1200m

CUNNAMULLA - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious en route to the course and declared a late scratching at 3.58pm after it was revealed to be lame in the off hind. Trainer T Edmonds was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to CUNNAMULLA starting in any race or trial.

I AM THIRTY – Checked when tightened for room at the start between RED BLOOM and TOTTEN.

KUSAMA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider L Cassidy stated it wasn’t his intention to race on the speed, but after KUSAMA began uncharacteristically well, elected to make use of the gate speed and take up a position behind the speed in an attempt to get the mare to settle. Stewards noted the explanation.

RED BLOOM – Shifted out on jumping.

DARING BELLE – Began awkwardly.

FAIRY WAND – Overraced in the early stages.

TOTTEN – Raced wide without cover. Trainer S Boyd was advised that TOTTENS’ nominations would now be refused in metropolitan regions until it shows consistent form at provincial tracks.

Race 7: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS OFFER BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1650m

HAPPY GO PLUCKY- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious en route to the track and cleared to start.

MR TICKETS – Bumped at the start when THE HAND shifted out.

REBEL ROCK – Slow to begin. Held up from the 500m until near the 150m.

THE HAND – Began awkwardly shifting out and bumped MR TICKETS.

HALLSIDE FANDANGO – Change of tactics – To be ridden further back due to the wide gate; ridden accordingly.

TOGA PICTA – Raced wide without cover.

Race 8: EAGLE FARM BOXING DAY RACES BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1350m

INCHING CLOSER – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide without cover. Near the 200, had to be steadied when DEE DAY DIVA (S Thornton) shifted out when not sufficient clear. Rider S Thornton was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

CAPE WICKHAM – Raced wide with cover.

SAMURAI – Held up rounding the home turn.

LADY BRAHMOS – Hampered on jumping. After being trapped wide, was allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DEE DAY DIVA – Shifted out on jumping contacting LADY BRAHMOS. Shifted out near the 200m in an attempt to gain clear running.

TEST OF WAR – Rider R Maloney reported that his mount was disappointing in its finishing effort.

FLIRTY DEB – Shifted in abruptly on jumping.
