Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Plate 1200 metres

WITH EDGE – Raced wide without cover in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and race outside the leader from the 700 metres.

BI TURBO – Near the 800 metres steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of POSITIVE TENSION which shifted in when not fully clear. L Dittman, rider of POSITIVE TENSION, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

BRANDWOOD – As R Maloney was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider on that gelding by G Cartwright. R Maloney was fined $200 under AR190(3). Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 200 metres disappointed for a run to the inside of BRUT GOLD.

MO CONTRAIRE – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Blundered approaching the 800 metres. Tailed the field throughout before being eased down in the home straight. Trainer C Mc Cann was advised MO CONTRAIRE must officially trial prior to its next race start.


Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS 3-Y-O Fillies Maiden Handicap 1200 metres

CHERRY SODA – Rider M McGillivray reported his mount dipped near the 400 metres and thereafter was uncomfortable in the heavy going.

KAIQUE – Began awkwardly.

KAZZA'S JET – Rider Adam Spinks reported his mount raced greenly throughout. Near 100 metres, when laying out, was steadied away from the heels of DRIZZLE.

RUBIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider M Rodd reported the filly did not handle the heavy track conditions.

SORORITY BELLE – Slow to begin.

ASLLANI – Raced three wide with cover throughout.

DRIZZLE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.


Race 3: Dulux QTIS Three-Years-Old BM65 Handicap 1000 metres

KIPCHOGE – Began awkwardly. Rider B El Issa was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.

BEN HUR – Raced four wide without cover majority of the event. Rider M Cahill reported the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HOT ESCORT – Bumped at the start.

SHAMATON – Raced three wide without cover majority of the event.

SYTHAERO – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping HOT ESCORT.

MORE THAN VALUE – Inconvenienced at the start between GEKKO and KIPCHOGE. Lost off fore plate in running.

Following the running of this event Stewards met with riders who rode in this event and riders who were participating in Race 4. Stewards and riders agreed the track was safe and suitable for racing and would continue to monitor the track on a race by race basis.


Race 4: DOOMBEN 10,000 DAY 15 MAY BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1660 metres

MORENDI – Laid out in the home straight.

GUNNOBE – Rider A Mallyon reported the mare was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages of the race and also failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Began awkwardly.

I COULD DO BETTER (IRE) – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 5: DOOMBEN CUP DAY 22 MAY Class 1 Plate 1660 metres

HAPPY BABE – Laid out under pressure near the 200 metres and bumped RELOADED. Rider reported the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer B Guy was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

RELOADED – Bumped near the 200 metres. Unplaced favourite (1.30). Rider L Dittman stated the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions. Shifted off fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ISABELLA'S SPRING – Slow to begin. Rider A Chau reported he experienced limited visibility rounding the home turn.

IRISH PARDON – Began awkwardly.

HEAVEN AMORE – Rider reported the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions.


Race 6: DERBY DAY 29 MAY BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1050 metres

MORT DOYLE – Shifted out to improve near the 600 metres and bumped ALUF.

ALUF – On arrival behind the barriers the saddle on the gelding was readjusted. Slow to begin. Near the 600 metres bumped and taken wider when MORT DOYLE shifted out to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lame off hind leg. Trainer K Kemp was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.


Race 7: OAKS DAY 5 JUNE Class 3 Plate 1350 metres

EMMA'S JET – Declared a late scratching at 3:37pm due to the heavy track conditions.

ENDLESS RIVER (NZ) – Near the 1000 metres checked when tightened by LOVE YERS ALL which was carried in by DARING BELLE. As a result MANTELLI shifted in and crowded ENDLESS RIVER which as a result was buffeted.

MANTELLI – Near 1150 metres checked to avoid the heels of LOVE YERS ALL which shifted in and away from DARING BELLE.

BOREAS – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for majority of the event. Eased down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.

CHAMPAGNE TOOTS (NZ) – Near the 1200 metres checked and carried in by DARING BELLE which shifted in when not clear. Near the 1100 metres checked to avoid the heels of DARING BELLE which after initially shifting in then shifted out.

DARING BELLE – Apprentice K Cowan, rider of DARING BELLE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1200 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CHAMPAGNE TOOTS which had to be checked to avoid the heels of DARING BELLE. Apprentice Cowan also pleaded to guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1150 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LOVE YERS ALL which was carried in onto MANTELLI which was checked and carried in onto ENDLESS RIVER which was buffeted. Apprentice Cowan further pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1000 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LOVE YERS ALL which was taken in resulting in ENDLESS RIVER being checked and losing its rightful running. In relation to the first charge the permit of K Cowan to ride in races was suspended from riding in races for 11 days; in relation to the second charge 11 days and in relation to the 3rd charge a period of 12 days. Stewards ordered all three suspensions to be served concurrently to commence midnight 21st March and to conclude midnight 2nd April 2021.

EXPERT EYE – Raced wide without cover for majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination the mare to have bled from the near side nostril. Trainer K Schweida was advised EXPERT EYE must satisfactorily gallop 1000 metres in presence of a Steward prior to its next race start.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions Stewards met with all jockeys riding in Race 8 and following consultation with Stewards riders agreed to ride in Race 8. Stewards also inspected the track prior to the running of Race 8 and passed the track safe to race.

8 STRADBROKE DAY 12 JUNE Class 2 Handicap 1110 metres

FRUSTRATED – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

AMIRYKAL – Checked at the start when BATTLE THROUGH shifted in abruptly.

JOYFUL MISS – Raced three wide for majority of the event.

BATTLE THROUGH – Shifted in abruptly on jumping.

DUBAI DREAMING – Raced greenly throughout. Rider B Thompson reported the filly failed to handle the heavy track conditions.

BROOKLYN STAR – Slow to begin.
