GENERAL

As J Huxtable was not be riding at today’s meeting due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.


Race 1: Millers Swim School Maiden Plate 1650 metres

PRINCE HUSSON – Slow to begin.

APPLICATIONS (NZ) - Jockey R Maloney was fined $800 for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii).

THE RED DANCER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider R Plamer reported that the filly with the addition of blinkers began moderately so she elected to restrain to a position at the rear of the field, which was further back that she had anticipated. She added that the filly failed to settle and raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

Race 2: 2 Souths Sports Club Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres

CUBIX – Over-raced in the early stages.

FRUSTRATED – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

MORETHANNUMBERONE – Raced three wide throughout. Made slight contact with LASTING KISS on a number of occasions over the concluding stages when both horses shifted ground.

LASTING KISS – Raced three wide in the early stages. Made slight contact with MORETHANNUMBERONE on a number of occasions over the concluding stages.

Race 3: BRC Membership BM78 Handicap 1200 metres

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards to consider an application made by jockey M Cahill immediately following the race, for UNGUARDED to be declared a non-runner. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing evidence from jockey M Cahill, Stewards found that UNGUARDED had lunged forward activating the barriers prematurely and as a result found UNGUARDED to have gained an advantage at the start. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR 204(2) declared UNGUARDED a non-runner and ordered that all monies invested on the mare be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

14 cent in the dollar for the Win - AMERICANA MAGIC
13 cent in the dollar for place of Win - AMERICANA MAGIC
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – MORT DOYLE

LET'S PARTY MARTY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Whilst being restrained improved onto the heels of CONQUER THE STARS near the 800m and as a result shifted out and raced wide for the remainder.

ONE STRYKE – Over-raced in the early stages.

AMERICANA MAGIC – Slow to begin. In the early part of the home straight altered course to the outside of LET’S PARTY MARTY to improve.

CONQUER THE STARS – Raced three wide in the early stages.

Race 4: Sky Racing QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap 1350 metres

AIR FORCE ROCKET – Commenced to over race in the early stages and raced with its head in the air for some distance. Passing the 900m hung out despite the efforts of its rider.

LAST FINALE – Buffeted between runners on jumping.

CAPITAL EYES – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

COPPERCHINO – Bumped on jumping. After being caught wide in the early stages was restrained to a position at the rear of the field closer to the rail near the 800m.

DUCHESS ROTHESAY – Began awkwardly and shifted out onto LAST FINALE.

DOOR INTO SUMMER – Raced greenly throughout the race and laid out in the home straight under pressure.

Race 5: 5 Cascade Class 1 Plate 1200 metres

EMERGENT – Commenced to hang out shortly after the start and near the 900m despite the efforts of its rider, made heavy contact with SAILING. A short distance later SAILING shifted in and made contact with EMERGENT which had continued to hang out and proved very difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination of did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer C Anderson was notified that EMERGENT will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to the horse racing again.

SAILING – Near the 800m shifted in and made contact with EMERGENT.

TOLKOWSKY – Began awkwardly and shifted out and made contact with INDUCEMENT.

INDUCEMENT – Bumped on jumping. Near 800m contacted the heels CALCAREOUS, blundered and lost ground. Compounded in the home straight and as a result underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not identify any abnormal findings.

DAINTREE DIVA – Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned into the disappointing performance, rider T Wolfgram stated that the filly may not have appreciated the quick back up from its most recent start. Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer J Symons regarding the late declaration of a rider.

KALIYA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

WILD IRISH – Near the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of EMERGENT which hung out despite the efforts of its rider.

CALCAREOUS – Near the 800m clipped the heels of EMERGENT which was racing ungenerously and as a result blundered and lost ground.


Race 6: TAB Venue Mode QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 2060 metres

DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM – Bumped on jumping.

LETHAL WARNING (NZ) – Slow to begin.

GALAXY BELLE – Began awkwardly and shifted in and made contact with DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM. Near the 400m hung in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of WHODAT.

RISE'N'SHINE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Race 7: Spirit of Boom Class 3 Handicap 1650 metres

TYCOON BELLA was injured en-route to the course and was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 12:58 pm. Trainer N Mcall was notified that she will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance to Stewards prior to the horse racing or trialling again.

CAMP RIFLE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

ADELASE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with BACK THE ROCK.

MAESTOSO – Weakened in the home straight and as a result underwent a post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings.

BACK THE ROCK – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Hampered on jumping when bumped by ADELASE.

LUNASNIT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

Race 8: Mekka Wednesday Races Aug BM68 Handicap 1350 metres

ROYAL SHEEN – From the wide barrier was restrained to the position at the rear of the field closer to the rail.

ABB ROY – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages.

BAMBALAM – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey B El Issa was fined $600 for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)

CROWN WAR – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

A BIG CHANCE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
