SUPPLEMENTARY
From the Gold Coast 27/8/21
 
Race 3 -Trainer T Edmonds reported that a Veterinary examination of INDIAN DREAMER conducted this morning, which included an endoscopic examination, revealed it to be suffering the effects of a virus, for which it will now be treated. The stable will now monitor the manner in which the gelding responds to this treatment before determining the progress of its current preparation.
 
GENERAL
 
Due to current Covid restrictions in place Stewards permitted the following riders to ride over above his allocated weights:
Race 4: Apprentice S Tomlinson – LADY SOLERNO – 54.5kg (claiming 1.5 of 2kg claim)
Race 6: Jockey M Hellyer – GOOD CHAT – 54.5kg
Race 8: Jockey J Guthmann-Chester – SUPERGIANT – 55kg
 
Race 1: IPCQ SINCE 1971 BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1050 metres
 
ONE STRYKE- Bumped on jumping. Near the 700m improved onto the heels of CENTREFIRE and shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
RUUCA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide throughout.
 
CENTREFIRE – Over-raced in the early stages. Held up for clear running from the 500m until a point entering the home straight.
 
KING OF THE DESERT- Stewards questioned rider R Stewart regarding the reason he stopped riding his mount over the concluding stages of the race. Jockey R Stewart reported that he had been experiencing some physical discomfort in his back during the event and as a result was unable to ride the gelding out with his normal vigour. Following the event Jockey R Stewart was stood down by the Club Doctor and was unable to fulfil his other rider engagements. Stewards noted the explanation. Riding changes as per summary.
 
AZIZ JAMIL COUREUR – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 700m forced wider when ONE STRYKE shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
BLUEANT- Began awkwardly. Near the 700m was taken wide by AZIZ JAMIL COUREUR which was forced wider by ONE STRYKE.
 
Race 2: IPCQ CELEBRATING 50 YEARS Class 3 Plate 1350 metres
 
ACHIEVER – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position at the rear of the field, closer to the rail.
 
EMMA'S JET - Restrained from the wide barrier to a position at the rear of the field closer to the rail. Near the 1100m was steadied when racing in restricted room.  
 
SPOKESMAN – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 700m.
 
KEEFY – Shortly after the start steadied when placed at heels. Near the 200m was disappointed for a run to the inside of NEXT DIMENSION (NZ) and as a result altered course to obtain clear running.
 
Race 3: HEAR & SAY FOUNDATION Fillies & Mares Class 6 Handicap
(QTIS BONUSES F 1200 metres
 
The start of the race was delayed when CHIVARGO became fractious in the barriers and as a result was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
Trainer D Hansen was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare’s barrier manners.
 
THE PINES – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
SO TAKEN - Restrained from the wide barrier to a position at the rear of the field closer to the rail.
 
CHIVARGO – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
MISHANI MISS – Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
DIS DAH WUN – Near the 100m was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of THE PINES which shifted out to improve. App J Lloyd was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting out when insufficiently clear.
 
SHE CAN SING – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SOUBRETTE - Was momentarily inconvenienced near the 1100m when racing with its head the air number while being restrained.
 
 
Race 4: IPCQ INDUSTRIAL COATINGS OPEN Handicap 2000 metres
 
DISSOLUTION – After being caught wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward to a position outside the leader near the 1500m. Bumped with SILENT AGENDA in the early part of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
HE RUNS AWAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PLITVICE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
SILENT AGENDA – On entering the home straight bumped with DISSOLUTION.
 
LADY SOLERNO – App S Tomlinson reported that the mare laid in throughout.
 
Race 5: DANNY MCGUINNESS MEMORIAL Class 6 Handicap 1600 metres
 
MATOWI (NZ) – Was steadied when improved onto heels near the 1300m and as a result shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – After being tightened for room near the 1300m commenced to keenly for the remainder of the event. Near the 100m laid out under pressure.  
 
ULYSSES – Near the 1300m was placed in restricted room and had to be steadied.
 
KUBRICK-
 
MILK MAN (USA) – Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
BARNEY'S LAW – Near the 1500m was checked and lost ground when tightened for room to the inside of RULE THE WORLD (R Maloney) which shifted in. Jockey R Maloney was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he shifted in when insufficiently clear of BARNEY’S LAW which was steadied and taken in onto ULYSSES which was also taken in onto ROMAN AUREUS which had to be steadied. Jockey R Maloney licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 6 September 2021 and expire midnight 15 September 2021.
 
PROSPECTUS – Near the 600m was restrained when awkwardly placed at the heels of MATOWI.
 
BENTLEY MAGIC – Rider R Fradd reported the gelding was reluctant to improve between runners in the home straight which resulted in him being unable to ride his mount out in his usual vigour. He added that the gelding would be better suited racing wider in future starts.
 
I COULD DO BETTER (IRE) – Near the 1300m steadied when improved onto heels.
 
GREEN JACKET – Slow to begin.
 
REBEL ROCK – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
Race 6: IPCQ GOLDEN JUBILEE Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 6
Handicap (QTIS B 1200 metres
 
DITMAS- Trainer M Eggleston was fined $200 for the late declaration of App. L Kilner as the rider of the gelding. Slow into stride
 
ELIXIR – Approaching the 1000m was bumped by GOOD CHAT. Near the 150m was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of LET’S PARTY MARTY which laid in under pressure.
 
LET'S PARTY MARTY – Near the 100m steadied when tightened for room was inclined to lay in across heels and had to be steadied.
 
WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) – Approaching the 900m was eased from the heels of HIDDEN HAIL (L Cassidy) which shifted in not sufficiently clear. Then commenced to over-race whilst being restrained for some distance. Jockey L Cassidy was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear.
 
HE'S A HOTSHOT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GOOD CHAT – Approaching the 1000m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
MISHANI EPIC – Stood flat footed and lost ground.
 
FIVE OXFORD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 900m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 7: EMERY, MEARS & JEFFS 3-Y-O Plate 1200 metres
 
PRINCE OF BOOM – Approaching the 1000m was bumped heavily by PRINCESS BOJACK which shifted out to a one off the rail position. A short distance later made contact with PRINCESS BOJACK on a number of occasions. Jockey L Dittmann was advised to show far greater care, in that once he was manoeuvred three wide, he was not intitled to shift back in and make heavy contact with PRINCESS BOJACK for a significant period. Near the 200m was steadied from the heels of ALPINE EDGE which shifted in. Jockey R Fradd was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear.
 
ALPINE EDGE – Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted in under pressure over the final 300m.
 
SACCA – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until a point near the 150m.
 
PRINCESS BOJACK – At a subsequent inquiry it was established that approaching 1000m shifted out and made contact with PRINCE OF BOOM. Following this PRINCE OF BOOM shifted in and made heavy contact with PRINCESS BOJACK on a number of occasions in an attempt to shift that runner in towards the rail. Jockey J Byrne was advised the show more care when permitting his mounts to shift out to a one wide position.  When weakening was checked when tightened for room near the 150m when STARTANTES (T Marshall) shifted in and away from ALPINE EDGE which was shifting in under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination identified superficial lacerations to the near hind leg.
 
STARTANTES – Near the 150m shifted in and away from ALPINE EDGE which shifted in under pressure.
 
SECRET TALES – Fractious in the barriers.
 
Race 8: IPCQ CORROSION CONTROL OPEN Handicap 1350 metres
 
RELOADED – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 200m until the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
SILVERA – Slow to begin. Near the 1100m had to be steadied when improved onto the heels of RIGHT OR WRONG.
 
BALLISTIC BOY- Shifted in under pressure over the final 250m.
 
RIGHT OR WRONG - As Jockey J Orman was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by T Brooker as the rider of the gelding. Jockey J Orman was fined a sum of $200 AR190(3).
 
PHANTOM FALCON (NZ) – Lost both fore plates in running.
 
CRUZE – Raced three wide throughout. Near the 150m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of BALLISTIC BOY which shifted in. Jockey B Stewart was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
 
RUN FOR GLORY – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a leading position near the 800m.
 
SUPERGIANT (NZ) – Slow to begin. Restrained from the wide barrier to a position at the rear of the field closer to the rail. Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 9: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
CATESBY-
 
NIGHT OF POWER – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Over the concluding stages was tightened for room between JETSKI  and JINX ‘N’ DRINX which was taken out by DARING BELLE which shifted out under pressure.
 
COULDN'T REFUSE – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
CONQUER THE STARS – Began awkwardly. Weakened badly in the home straight. Stewards will follow up with Trainer C Cousins in the coming days.
 
ACROBATIC – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
FANAAR (NZ) – Shortly after jumping was bumped on the hind quarters by CONQUER THE STARS.
 
JETSKI – Raced three wide throughout.
 
SUILVEN – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over the concluding was tightened for room between JETSKI  and JINX ‘N’ DRINX which was taken out by DARING BELLE which shifted out under pressure.
 
DARING BELLE – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
JINX 'N' DRINX – Over-raced in the early stages
 
SCOTTISH MIST – Slow to begin.
 
ANGUS THE BLACK – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight until a point near the 200m.
