GENERAL
 
Due to current Covid restrictions Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
 
Race 2: Adin Thompson - IMPAVIDO - 54.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 2: Boris Thornton – SUGAR BUZZ - 56kg (+0.5kg)
Race 6: James McDonald - COOLANGATTA - 55.5kg (+0.5kg)
Race 8: Robbie Fradd – CHICAGO CUB - 55kg (+1kg)
 
As T Berry was not riding at the meeting, riding changes were permitted as per the Race day summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
ENABLER was declared a late scratching at 12.25pm on veterinary advice after making heavy contact with the barrier partition when being loaded into the barriers and sustaining lacerations to the near hind stifle. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on ENABLER be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st MUSCHIALLI – 22c win, 18c place
2nd FROSTY MANGO – 17c place.
3rd AHOOSHU – 20c place
 
AHOOSHU – Rider C Whitely momentarily lost use of his near side rein passing the 300 metres before regaining use a short distance later.
 
PRINCESS LUNAR – Slow to begin.  Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
FROSTY MANGO – Over-raced in the early stages and near the 700 metres had to be restrained and steadied from the heels of SELF INDULGENT.
 
MUSCHIALLI – Inclined to layout under pressure in the home straight.
 
BILLY'S BRO – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 12 MARCH BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2000 metres
 
KIRKEBY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BECANDLENI – Rider B Thompson reported the horse in his opinion did not run out a strong 2000 metres adding that over the final 100 metres of the event BECANDLENI peaked on its run.
 
TIDES OF JUPITER – Slow to begin. Uncompetitive throughout and was eased out of the race near the 1400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in both hind legs. Trainer J Bellamy was advised TIDES OF JUPITER must obtain a veterinary clearance and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 3: XXXX CITY TO SURF PLATE 1600 metres
 
WHY WE DRINK – Held up for clear running in the home straight before shifting out to improve near the 150 metres and bumping with CHIEF ARTIE.
 
CHIEF ARTIE – Bumped near the 150 metres when WHY WE DRINK shifted out to improve. Rider R Maloney reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Bumped on jumping with GRACIE BLUE.  
 
TELEPHONE BOOTH – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1100 metres.
 
GRACIE BLUE – Bumped on jumping with KIPLINGS JOURNEY.
 
 
 
Race 4: DOREEN BIRD BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1600 metres
 
SMART METEOR – Bumped on jumping. Held up between the 550 metres and the entrance to the home straight before shifting out and taking SOKUDO wider on the track.
 
MORETHANNUMBERONE – When asked to comment on tactics adopted from the 500 metres rider A Mallyon explained when the pace quickened from the 600 metres MORETHANNUMBERONE was travelling only fairly and he was reluctant to come wider on the track as in his opinion the horse is better suited to racing on bigger tracks. A Mallyon added he was disappointed today with the overall performance and that MORETHANNUMBERONE is better suited to races over a shorter distance than today’s 1600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
SOUTHERN SWING – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1000 metres.
 
LINTHORPE LAD – Slow to begin.
 
CONFRONTATIONAL – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to a rearward position with cover closer to the rails.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Jumped out at the start and bumped SMART METEOR.
 
 
 
Race 5: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
GAROPPOLO (NZ) – Held up and had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 200 metres and the 100 metres and when shifting out to improve took SAFEWORK wider on the track and being awkwardly placed at the heels of PALLADAS for a short distance.
 
THUNDER MANIA – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
BUNDYANDCOKE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
CLAIRVUE STAR – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
PALLADAS – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
STORMY ROCK – Slow to begin. Hampered near the 200 metres when SAFEWORK shifted out to improve. Held up for clear running until a point near the 100 metres.
 
MINJEE – Slow to begin. Raced fiercely and had to be restrained from the heels of EURO BELLE near the 800 metres.
 
MYSTIC AROMA – Jumped out at the start.
 
 
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS B.J. MCLACHLAN STAKES 1200 metres
 
HEROIC SON – Declared a late scratching at 9:11am on veterinary advice after presenting with a nasal discharge. Co-trainer W Hulbert was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
PALAZZO SPIRIT – Rider B Nothdurft reported the horse never travelled at any stage of the event and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
EXTREMAARTY – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 700 metres.
 
SWISS EXILE – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
BRIGHT BLUE SKY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
HATTUSA – Crowded shortly after the start.
 
 
 
Race 7: TAB BERNBOROUGH PLATE 1600 metres
 
NICCANOVA – Led by a considerable margin in the middle stages of the event despite the efforts of rider R Maloney to steady the horse during the race.
 
LIGULATE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and near the 250 metres was disappointed for a run between PHAISTOS and THE HARROVIAN which laid out and went to the line without being fully tested by its rider.
 
CHARMMEBABY (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS FALVELON QUALITY HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
 
ZOUSTYLE – Rider R Maloney reported the horse was inclined to over-race in the middle stages of the event and he was disappointed in the manner ZOUSTYLE finished the race off over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
MASTER JAMIE – Over-raced and raced with its head in the air for a short distance when being restrained to obtain cover near the 900 metres.
 
HAIL MANHATTAN – Jumped out at the start and bumped CHICAGO CLUB.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Slow to begin.
 
CHICAGO CUB – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
Race 9: SEASONS GREETINGS FROM BRC Class 6 Handicap 1350 metres
 
SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
SLOW HANDS (NZ) – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the event.
 
STUTTERING – Over-raced and had to be steadied from heels near the 700 metres.
 
WONDERFUL RIRI – Slow to begin.
 
ENTERPRISE PRINCE – Jumped out at the start.
 
STARVIRGO – Began awkwardly.
 
RUUCA – Change of tactics - to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
GLITTER STRIP – Began awkwardly.
