GENERAL

As J Orman was unable to ride due to illness, changes were approved as per the Raceday Summary.
 
Stewards approved the following riders to ride overweight.
 
Race 8 – N Callow (One Stryke) plus 1kg at 56.5kg.
 
 
Race 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing R Maloney, the rider of the 3rd placegetter GOOD GIRL to view the footage to establish whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner POMADE over the final stages. R Maloney declined to protest.
 
CHIKARA – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly and bumped GOOD GIRL. Over-raced in the early stages and near the 700m shifted out when steadied off the heels of POMADE.

POMADE – Shifted out abruptly at the 500m. Inclined to shift in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out abruptly over the final stages.
 
PRIMARY WITNESS – Hampered at start when bumped by CHIKARA. Raced three wide throughout.  Shifted in near the 450m and brushed BESSMATI.
 
 
BESSMATI – Severely hampered at start. Hampered when brushed by PRIMARY WITNESS near the 450m.
 
 
GOOD GIRL – Severely hampered at start. Inconvenienced over the final stages when bumped by POMADE.
 
LICENCED AND READY - Shifted out near 900m. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and hung out when leading.
 
 
Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS Class 3 Plate 1600 metres
 
 
GAVE US UP – Hampered at the start when bumped by DAINTREE DIVA. Rider B Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for permitting GAVE US UP to shift in at the 600m when insufficiently clear DAINTREE DIVA and taking that runner across the rightful running of TAMILAIDE which had to be checked. Mr Stewart had his licence to ride in races suspended for 10 days to take effect at M/N 29.1.22 until M/N 8.2.22.
 
INDIAN DREAMER – Hampered at the start.
 
TAMILAIDE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Checked when tightened for room near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered an abrasion to the inside of the off-fore fetlock.
 
ABRACADAZZLE – Jumped awkwardly.
 
DAINTREE DIVA – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.  Bled from both nostrils during the race. As this was the first time the mare had bled, connections were advised it will now be ineligible to race for three months.
 
 
Race 3: RACECOURSE VILLAGE BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1600 metres
 
CLOAK – Raced three wide in the early stages and middle stages and was ridden forward to take the lead near the 800m.
 
SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Slow to begin. Disappointed for clear running near the 200m.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Restrained at the start to take up a position at the rear of the field.
 
ALL TOO HUIYING – A post-race veterinary examination of the horse, which compounded in the home straight, did not reveal any significant findings. Trainer R Severino was advised the horse will no longer be permitted to race at Metropolitan meetings until it establishes competitive form at Provincial meetings.
 
TRADUCE (NZ) – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
JACKSPRAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-hind cannon.

Race 4: CASCADE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2000 metres
 
BENGAL BANDIT – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being ridden forward to obtain a handy position with cover.
 
SEE MARIE - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Rider explained that the mare didn’t run out a strong 2000m. Trainer D Forster advised that the mare will now be sent for a spell.
 
LINTHORPE LAD – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
CHOCOLATIER (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages and was ridden forward to race outside the leader near the 800m.
 
SAVVY OAK (NZ) – Tightened for room near the 800m.
 
SCICONIC – Raced three wide throughout.
 
TAKEITTOTHELIMIT – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
IN YOUR ELEMENT – Inconvenienced near the 800m.
 
Race 5: GIRLS DAY OUT 12 MARCH QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Handicap 1200 metres
 
ANDY – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier.
 
ALF'S MAGIC – Jumped awkwardly.
 
RED WAVE – Jumped awkwardly and bumped heavily with TEE AMICI. Bumped heavily by KIPSBAY on the home turn.
 
TEE AMICI – Hampered at the start when bumped by RED WAVE. Steadied off the heels of LOGOMANIA near the 350m.
 
DUNDAS – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide throughout. Hampered on the home turn when carried wider.
 
KIPSBAY – Jumped awkwardly. Over-raced badly in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels of ROCKIN’ ARTIE rounding the home turn and shifted out and bumped RED WAVE. Connections were advised a warning was placed on the gelding’s racing mannners.
 
Race 6: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE SOON QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Handicap 1200 metres
 
ALERT AND READY – Slow to begin. Rider reported that the filly wasn’t suited on the rain affected track and will appreciate a further distance than that of today’s race. Trainer Mr Kemp was unable to explain today’s performance, he added that class of today’s race was better than recent starts.
 
Race 7: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
THUNDER MANIA – Hampered soon after start. Over-raced badly in the early stages.
 
COSSIE – Blundered at the start and shifted in.
 
RENOUF – Slow to begin.
 
BEAU ARROW – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 8: SKY RACING ONE METRO WIN-LAST YEAR HANDICAP 1110 METRES
 
PENNINO – Slow to begin. Steadied near 700m when improved onto the heels of FULL NELSON
 
FULL NELSON (NZ) – Steadied when tightened for room near the 800m.
 
ONE STRYKE – Trainer L Abbott was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for a late rider declaration.
 
GOGOL – Raced wide throughout.
 
HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS – Raced wide throughout
 
GLOBAL CITIZEN – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider R Fradd reported the gelding is best suited when able to lead and dictate the tempo of the race. Co-Trainer Mr Trent Edmonds that the gelding may be suited stepping back in class and undertook to report anything in the coming days that may explain today’s performance.
 
LIZA WITH A ZEE – Raced wide throughout.
 
AIR SPIRIT – Slow to begin.
 
Race 9: TAB VENUE MODE Class 6 Plate 1350 metres
 
 
AGASSI  - Raced three wide throughout.
 
MOONAN ME – Hampered at the start when bumped by THE RITZ. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Held up for clear running on the home turn.
 
THE RITZ – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in and bumped MOONAN ME.
 
GRAND ZOU – Slow to begin.
 
JETTY – Raced three wide throughout.
