SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From GCTC 19th March 2002 - Race 8. QTIS Jewel 3YO 1200m
Trainer C. Anderson reported to Stewards that following the running of this race, BETTER THAN EPIC, underwent an endoscopic examination on returning to his stables, which revealed evidence of mucous, and has since undergone veterinary treatment.  
 
 
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 3. J. Orman +0.5kg
Race 4. J. Stanley +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when TO BOOGIE had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers.
 
FLOP TURN RIVER – Slow to begin. A warning was placed on the gelding after it proved difficult to load.
 
ROADTRIP – Restless in the barriers and slow into stride. Jockey J. Huxtable reported that in his opinion the colt failed to handle the heavy track conditions and was reluctant to stride out. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed an ulcer on the colt’s top gum.
 
TITIAN GODDESS – Bumped with GERRYMANDER approaching the 300m.
 
GERRYMANDER – Bumped with TITIAN GODDESS approaching the 300m.
 
 
Race 2: THE CALILE HOTEL BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1600 metres
 
 
SPENCER – Caught three wide in the early and middle stages.
 
DEEP SCEIVA – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
KNIGHT MARINER (NZ) – G. Cartwright replaced R. Maloney as Mr Maloney was unable to make the weight (AR190(iii)). Jockey R. Maloney was fined $300. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running between the 450m and the 350m.
 
 
Race 3: ACE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 metres
 
MENAZZI – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and had to be steadied off the heels of MONDAY MONDAY near the 800m.
 
CRACK OF DOOM – Bumped heavily shortly after the start with MONDAY MONDAY.
 
MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin, then crowded and lost ground.
 
TUSCANY BOUND – Bumped and crowded on jumping, losing ground.
 
MONDAY MONDAY – Jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with TUSCANY BOUND. Bumped heavily shortly after the start with CRACK OF DOOM.
 
 
Race 4: ETHOS ORTHODONTICS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 2000 metres
 
LEKVARTE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid inwards in the straight.
 
GOLDEEL – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting signs of a  slow post race recovery. Connections advised that GOLDEEL will now be sent for a spell.  
 
JIMMY THE TULIP – Raced three wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: VECCHIO PROPERTY GROUP BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 2000 metres
 
WARP SPEED – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin.
 
FORTIFIED (NZ) – Steadied off heels of ISABELLA’S SPRING at the 800m.

 
LADY SOLERNO – Laid inwards in the straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and the 200m.
 
 
Race 6: CHEMIST WAREHOUSE Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
Following the running of race 5, the track was upgraded to a Soft (7).
 
FINALLY REALISE – Slow to begin and bumped on jumping when SAN PIERRE jumped awkwardly outwards. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SMART IMAGE – Slow to begin. Shifted in abruptly passing the 200m.
 
FIRST CROWN – Laid inwards over the final 200m.
 
MAGIC RULER – On arrival at the gates, the gelding had to have its’ tongue tie refitted. Raced three wide with cover.   
 
YOU’LL BE MIST – Raced three wide without cover.
 
SAN PIERRE – Jumped awkwardly outwards bumping FINALLY REALISE.
 
 
Race 7: PITCHER PARTNERS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1050 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when XERRI had to have its near fore plate refitted on arrival at the barriers.
 
XERRI - Raced keenly early. Bumped with CARDIFF near the 350m.
 
ZIPPING BOY – Raced three wide with cover.
 
CARDIFF – Bumped with XERRI near the 350m. Had a tendency to lay outwards over the final 100m.
 
SNOWZONE – Held up making the turn into the home straight.
 
LYRICAL GIRL – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ALEYSA’S DREAM – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover.
 
BOINGO – Slow into stride.  
 
STREAKA – On returning to scale, Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor reported he was unable to establish a comfortable lead on the gelding, and was obliged to work hard throughout and as such, failed to run on in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in front.
 
 
Race 8: GOTRANSIT MEDIA GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 75 Handicap 1350 metres
 
CHARRETERA – Had to be eased off the heels of RIOT ACT, which shifted out abruptly near the 250m.
 
GET THE IDEA – Held up from the 450m to the 250m.
 
FACTORY WARRIOR – Raced three wide with cover.
 
SVINDAL – Raced three wide with cover. Laid inwards in the early part of the home straight.
 
BUSHIDO – On returning to scale, Apprentice A. Thompson reported that his saddle slipped backwards during running, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
RIOT ACT – Raced three wide without cover.
 
FIFTEEN ROUNDS – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Slow to begin after jumping away extremely awkwardly.
 
 
Race 9: MERCEDES-BENZ BRISBANE BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1350 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when ROCK AMORE required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers.
 
CLOAK – Trainer advised that from the wide barrier it will settle back in the field in an attempt to obtain cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Contacted TRAMONTO on  jumping. Laid inwards in the straight.
 
RUN FOR GLORY – Raced three wide.
 
SIR ROCKET – On returning to scale, jockey B. Thornton reported that the gelding wasn’t striding freely into the straight and he elected to ease the gelding down. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
ULYSSES – Raced three wide with cover.
 
LOVE STRUCK – Raced four wide without cover.
