SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Race 1: JOURNEY TO THE JEWEL Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Capital Eyes – Difficult to load, connections advised that a warning would be placed on the mare. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Salamatina (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Arpels – Began awkwardly.
 
Jump'n Fly – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Maid To Fit – Steadied to avoid heels over the concluding stages. K Wilson- Taylor was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Ocean Endeavour – Rider B Thompson reported that his mount travelled well throughout, however failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. Post-race vet examination revealed the filly to be heat stressed.
 
Paris Avenue – Raced greenly when under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
 
Hallside Martini – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: CASCADE Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Ambitious Spirit – Raced wide throughout. Disappointed for a run near the 500m and steadied before shifting back to the inside to improve. Inconvenienced and shifted wider near the 100m, to avoid the heels of NAVAL TRADER (J Lloyd), which shifted out, J Lloyd was advised to exercise more care.
 
Hypervelocity – Over-raced when the pace slackened near the 900m, commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event.
 
Tersane (NZ) – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
Curry Legend – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
Dominance – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Naval Trader – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 100m.
 
Whatta Whitt – Over-raced when the pace slackened near the 900m. Steadied from heels near the 500m.

Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres
 
 
Poetic Choice – Raced wide throughout.
 
Zumikon – Eased when tightened for room between runners after passing the 900m when NASHIRA shifted out, B Thompson, the rider of NASHIRA, was reprimanded for this incident. Eased when tightened for room near the 500m.
 
 
Race 4: 35 EUREKA STAKES GRADUATES IN 5 YEARS QTIS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1350 metres
 
 
TANKER – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
Three Stripes – Eased after racing in restricted room near the 100m when inclined to lay in.
 
Secret Tales – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH 20-21 Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Olympic Legend – Began awkwardly.
 
Charge On – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with KOKOPO KITTY. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
Ocean Emperor – Change of Tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
Expectant – Tightened for room and checked at the start.
 
Chasing Jackley – Tightened for room at the start.
 
CABSAV – Bumped and became unbalanced when KOKOPO KITTY shifted out to improve near the 200m.
 
Kokopo Kitty – Tightened for room and checked at the start.
 
Race 6: LADBROKES MATES MODE Class 2 Handicap 1650 metres
 
Jetfoil – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn and the early part of the home straight. Again held up over the concluding stages.
 
Snatch (NZ) – Tightened for room and steadied at the start.
 
Ultimate Pride (NZ) – Tightened for room and steadied at the start. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Shifted wider to improve from the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards, forced wider near the 600m when bumped by SEA RIPPLE, which shifted out to improve. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of SEA RIPPLE, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
Kennysing – Slow to begin and tightened shortly afterwards.
 
Mandalay Blonde – Shifted out when rounding the home turn.
 
Gunmetal Girl (NZ) – Checked when tightened for room near the 250m between SEA RIPPLE and JETFOIL, which shifted out. Jockey James Byrne, rider of JETFOIL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 250m when attempting to secure clear running he directed JETFOIL out resulting in GUNMETAL GIRL being taken out and forcing that horse to be placed in restricted room between SEA RIPPLE and JETFOIL and causing E Chaves, the rider of GUNMETAL GIRL, to take hold and lose this position between JETFOIL and SEA RIPPLE. Jockey J Byrne’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 10/3/23 until midnight 19/3/23.
 
Sea Ripple – Shifted wider to improve near the 600m and made heavy contact with ULTIMATE PRIDE. Steadied when tightened for room between MANDALAY BLONDE  and ULTIMATE PRIDE, when both horses shifted ground near the 400m. R Maloney, the rider of ULTIMATE PRIDE was advised to exercise greater care.
 
Race 7: XXXX DRY Class 1 Handicap 2050 metres
 
Sir William Bruce (IRE) – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
Naughty Harry (NZ) – Raced in restricted room when passing the 1600m. Laid in under pressure.
 
Readily Availabull – Change of Tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Rider dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
Apataki (NZ) – Eased from heels after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
 
 
Race 8: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Spending My Time – Raced wide throughout.
 
Derry Grove – Slow to begin.
 
Golly Hutt – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. Obliged to alter course to secure clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
Lucifer's Reward – Began awkwardly and bumped MILIARENSE.
 
Think High – Raced in restricted room when passing the 400m.
 
Lady Rain – Post race vet examination revealed the horse to be mildly heat stressed.
 
Miliarense – Bumped at the start. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
Miss Tambo – Laid in at a point passing the 400m. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
Jimmy's Dream – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn. Apprentice J Lloyd was reminded of his obligation to fully test his mount to the conclusion of the event.
 
Arriverderci Roma – Began awkwardly.
