SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Ipswich 27th
Trainer G. Sitek (STEP ON FIRE) was questioned as to how long the tongue tie had been affixed to the gelding. After taking evidence from Mr Sitek and another licensee, Stewards could not be certain how long it had been allegedly affixed. Subsequent veterinary examination found that no trauma was evident and acting on veterinary advice stewards took the matter no further but to remind Mr Sitek that tongue ties should not be applied any longer than 30 minutes prior to the running of a race.  
 
GENERAL
As Jockey C. Meehan was ill, riding changes were made as per the race day summary.
 
Race 1: BJORN AGAIN ABBA TRIBUTE 2 JUNE Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
GUS THE BUS – Raced wide.
 
EMPEROR – As Brodie Loy was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by D. Thornton. Jockey B. Loy was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR 190 (3) and was fined $250.
 
MYSTIC MAC – Began awkwardly shifted in, contacting the rail shortly after the start.
 
SIMONE LOUISE – Near the 100m when tiring momentarily steadied from the heels of URBAN JEWEL which shifted out.
 
BLUE SPINE – Near the 300m, laid in and had to be steadied from the heels of AHOY which rolled out marginally.
 
KAI TAK – Trainer J. Bruce advised that the filly would be ridden with cover circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly then hampered between runners and restrained to a position.
 
Race 2: CASCADE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
ET TU BRUTE – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.
 
MIRACLE OF LOVE – Bumped with CYBERWARS on a couple of occasions entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an abrasion to the inside of its offside nostril.
 
SHARP DAZZLER – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
 
HEROIC EAGLE – Trainer S. Livingstone advised that the gelding would attempt to be ridden mid field with cover circumstances permitting. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and unable to be restrained to a position. Near the 250m was momentarily steadied from the heels of BANGETTA which shifted in. Jockey A. Mallyon was advised to exercise greater care regarding this incident.  
 
BANGETTA – Bumped shortly after jumping. Following the running of this race Jockey A. Mallyon after feeling unwell was assessed by the club doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
VERY SEWREEL – Commenced to weaken from the 300m. Rider reported that the filly travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination found no apparent abnormalities.
 
CYBERWARS – Bumped with MIRACLE OF LOVE on a couple of occasions entering the home straight.
 
MAGIC OF MILLO – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 3: XXXX DRY Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
Prior to the running on this event the track was upgraded to a GOOD 4.
 
EVERLAST – Near the 900m, began over racing when restraining for cover when the pace slackened.
 
DAWN REBEL – Trainer advised that the mare would be ridden further forward circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly.
 
Race 4: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 8 JUNE Class 3 Handicap 2040 metres
 
GRECIAN LASS – Passing the finishing post on the first occasion, Jockey T. Harrison momentarily dropped her near side rein before shifting out. Raced wide until approaching the 1350m.
 
INUWASHI (IRE) – Very slow to begin.
 
CARBONETTI – Shifted in shortly after the start before being corrected by its rider.
 
CORDYCEPS MIRACLE – Began awkwardly, shifted out.
 
DEEL WITH ME – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 80m when GRECIAN LASS laid out.
 
BUDDY'S TALE – Shortly after the start, momentarily steadied from the heels of CARBONETTI which shifted in. Passing the finishing post on the first occasion, was forced wider when GRECIAN LASS shifted out.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap1650 metres
 
SAUCEY HORSEY – Approaching the finishing line raced in restricted room to the inside of OUR REBEL which rolled in slightly and SECURITY ADVISOR which laid out under pressure.
 
SHOPPING ESPRIT – Very slow to begin. Trainer representative for the C. Waller stable Mr B. Killion was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
STARZAM – Began very awkwardly and shifted out.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
MISS KEELER – Began awkwardly. Passing the 300m was disappointed for a run inside of MADAME DU GAST and was steadied. Approaching the finishing line improved onto heels.
 
DREAM SONG – Raced wide.
 
HOPEFUL STAR – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS Class 1 Handicap 1650 metres
 
BROOKHAVEN – Raced wide throughout
 
SORGENTE – Began awkwardly. Eased up by its rider over the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination which determined that the gelding had bled bilaterally. Trainers’ representative for the C. Waller stable Mr B. Killion was advised that the gelding would be stood down pursuant to AR 79(4) from competition for a period of 3 months and must also complete a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Inclined to lay in the early part of the home straight.
 
SARDEGNA – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages proving difficult to settle.
 
VEANDECHANCE – As Brodie Loy was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by A. Mallyon. Jockey B. Loy was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR 190 (3) and was fined $250. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
COLLECTION POINT – Raced wide with cover from the 800m.
 
BRAVE BOY – Jockey J. Huxtable was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132 (7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m.
 
PURVEYOR – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Bumped on the hind quarters rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.
 
SURREEL – Trainer J. Bruce advised that the mare from todays wide barrier would be ridden with cover circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly. Inclined to lay in over the final 300m obliging its rider to stop and straighten his mount on several occasions.
 
LAGO DI BRAIES (NZ) – Very slow to begin. Trainer V. Venkaya was advised a warning would be placed on the mare.
 
 
Race 7: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BRIMSTONE (NZ) – When asked to comment on the geldings performance Jockey L. Cassidy stated he was disappointed with the performance but noted the horse hadn’t trial prior to today’s performance. A post-race vet examination found the gelding to have bled bilaterally. Co Trainer S. Laxon was advised that the gelding would be stood down pursuant to AR 79(4) from competition for a period of 3 months and must also complete a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming.
 
WOLF MOON – Raced wide throughout.
 
RAVAGED AWARD – Began awkwardly, hampered between runners on jumping. Raced ungenerously early.
 
CIRCLING – Began awkwardly. Trainer A. Campton was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) in that he failed to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
PHILLY SPECIAL – Began awkwardly. Near the 1100m was inconvenienced and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between BRIMSTONE which rolled out slightly and RAVAGED AWARD which was racing ungenerously. Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: THE STAR STRADBROKE SEASON BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1350 metres
 
KOSCIUSKO – Began awkwardly and bumped with SUNFALL.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 900m, obliged to steady when awkwardly placed on heels. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SOUTH PARADE (NZ) – Raced wide.
 
SMYTZER – Raced wide.
 
SUNFALL – Began awkwardly and bumped with KOSCIUSKO. Near the 900m raced in restricted room, contacting the rail and became unbalanced when STICK TO YOUR GUNS was steadied from heels, began to over race and shifted in abruptly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MOONAN ME – Began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed.
 
STICK TO YOUR GUNS – Near the 900m when the pace slackened improved onto the heels of SILVER CITY then shifted in abruptly. Held up rounding the home turn. Continued to over race for some distance.
 
BANDIT – Raced wide.
 
STRAWB – Proved difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer D. Forster was advised that the mare would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming. Blundered on jumping.
 
ARGYLE PINK – When asked to comment following today’s performance stable representative C. Cavanough for the Gollan stable stated the mare would now go for a short let up following todays disappointing performance.
