SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Doomben 9/12/2022 – Stewards today concluded an inquiry into jockey J. Orman being found in possession of a mobile phone in the jockey’s room during the race meeting. A forensic analysis of the device, and on examination for the retrieved material revealed there was no indication the phone was used whilst jockey Orman was at the race meeting. No evidence was revealed of any activity that constituted a breach of the rules.  Jockey J. Orman subsequently pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR218(4) for being in possession of a mobile phone in the jockey’s room. After hearing submissions on penalty and taking into account jockey Orman’s prior record regarding breaches of this rule, stewards imposed a fine of $1000. Mr. Orman was advised of his right to appeal.
