SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Ipswich 31/5/25
Race: 8 – Jockey T Brooker was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m, when considering penalty stewards noted Miss Brooker’s good record.
GENERAL
As Jockey N. Rawiller was indisposed, changes were made as per the race day summary. Jockey N. Rawiller was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.
Race 1: 4. SUMMATION was declared a late scratching at 9:24am on veterinary advice. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
Following the running of Race 2, Stewards upgraded the track to a Soft 5.
Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 8 mins after FLYING SAMMI became fractious behind the barriers, reared and contacted Jockey B. Lerena in the head, dislodging him. Jockey B. Lerena was attended to on course by QAS staff and subsequently stood down from further riding engagements and as a result FLYING SAMMI was declared a late scratching at 11:27am. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on FLYING SAMMI be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st CERTIFIED COPY 0c win, 1c place
2nd MINGELA 1c place
3rd DIALIDAE 3c place
Trainer A. Chau was advised that a warning would now be placed on the filly in regards to its pre-race manners.
I'M LUCKY TWO – Raced wide early. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
MINGELA – Difficult to load. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to its barrier manners.
BLITZWATER – Over-raced in the early stages.
DIALIDAE – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
DIVERSITY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
FIVE OF US – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
SHARPOY – Raced wide early. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
EUPHORIC MISS – Connections advised of a change in tactics in that EUPHORIC MISS will attempt to settle more forward with cover. Settled at the rear with cover after failing to muster early speed.
Race 2: MULLINS LAWYERS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR – Buffeted between SHIP HAPPENS and VEGAMEISTER shortly after the start. Brushed approaching the 50m.
HARD AS BROK – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m and was obliged to shift in. Raced in restricted room over the final 150m and brushed with ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR on a number of occasions when attempting to secure clear running.
MORTAL HALO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Lost its off fore plate.
SHIP HAPPENS – Bumped with ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR shortly after the start. Raced wide.
VEGAMEISTER – Hampered shortly after the start.
EGYPTIAN GODDESS – Held up approaching the home turn.
KOOLATAH QUEEN – Shifted in and bumped with VEGAMEISTER shortly after the start. Raced wide. Lost its near hind plate.
SWEET PRETENDER – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C. Graham was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mount in similar circumstances.
Following the running of race 2, stewards became aware of a discrepancy between the official minor placings and associated dividends paid out off course for this race.
Stewards have sort additional information regarding the incident and will review the circumstances which lead to the discrepancy.
Race 3: BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS 10 JUNE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M
DREAM THINKER - Near the 1100m shifted out when over-racing at the heels of BATTESIMO and bumped BETTER NOT FORGET.
BATTESIMO – Approaching the 100m shifted in, brushed the running rail and became unbalanced for a number of strides.
CAMBRIDGE BAY – Over-raced in the middle stages.
PURPOSELY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
XTRA LA VITA - Approaching the 200m was checked after being disappointed for a run between BETTER NOT FORGET which shifted out whilst weakening and SUGAR ISLAND.
BETTER NOT FORGET – Leaving the 1200m was crowded between DREAM THINKER and SUGAR ISLAND which was taken inwards to avoid the heels of BATTESIMO. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of a slow recovery. Trainer K. Schewida advised that the stable veterinarian would run further tests in the days to come and he would report back on the geldings’ condition to Stewards.
SUGAR ISLAND – Leaving the 1200m, had to be checked and was taken inwards to avoid the heels of BATTESIMO, which shifted in when not fully clear to do so. Jockey A. Thompson the rider of BATTESIMO was charged pursuant AR 131(a) for careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SUGAR ISLAND (D. Thornton) causing the rider of that runner to take evasive action and check to avoid heels of BATESIMO and shift in and contact BETTER NOT FORGET. Jockey A. Thompsons license to ride in races was suspended for 11 days commencing midnight 07/06/25 and concluding 18/06/25.
Race 4: TATTERSALLS TIARA RACEDAY 28 JUNE MAIDEN PLATE 1640 M
CASTERLY ROCK – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m.
DURBAN HARBOUR – Approaching the 1350m raced in restricted room for a short distance. Approaching the 1300m, when racing ungenerously, became unbalanced when racing in restricted to the inside of LIPSTICK LIES. Held up rounding the home turn.
ELROY – Raced wide throughout.
LUCIFER THE CAT – Began awkwardly and bumped STOICISM (NZ). Approaching the 1400m, steadied from the heels of JILLAROO (USA) which shifted in. Jockey R. Maloney was severely reprimanded under AR 131(a) for careless riding. Raced wide until approaching the 1000m.
KALBAR QUEEN – Slow to begin.
LIPSTICK LIES – Approaching the 1350m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of JILLAROO (USA) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey R. Maloney the rider of JILLAROO (USA) was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant AR 131(a).
SATURDAYS GIRL – Connections advised of a change of tactics in the SATURDAYS GIRL would attempt to be ridden more forward from a wide gate. After beginning awkwardly and losing ground, settled at the rear of the field. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
SHAMOUTI – Approaching the 1400m, steadied from the heels of JILLAROO (USA) which shifted in.
STOICISM (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn.
Race 5: THE STAR STRADBROKE SEASON FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
DREAM LANTERN – Near the 700m, bumped and became unbalanced when crowded for room between SULTRY SIREN, which shifted in marginally and WHISKEY DANCER which shifted out when over-racing. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance of DREAM LANTERN, Jockey J. Huxtable stated that he was pleased with the mare’s performance today considering the step up in class and in his opinion would appreciate further distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion on its near hind.
SULTRY SIREN – Raced wide.
GIDDAY GIDDAY – Raced wide.
WHISKEY DANCER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
BOLLINGER MISS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m.
INDAZA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MORE FOR READY - Approaching the 250m disappointed for a run between INDAZA and SHAPIN POWER and had to be steadied.
ARAMINTA – Over-raced leaving the 800m and had to be steadied from heels. Near the 500m had to be steadied momentarily when BOLLINGER MISS shifted out to improve. Jockey M. Harley the rider of BOLLINGER MISS was reprimanded under AR 131(a) for careless riding.
Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS FRED BEST CLASSIC - GROUP 3 1350 M
BOSUSTOW – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance of BOSUSTOW, Jockey J. Parr reported that in his opinion the colt travelled well, however when asked for an effort in the straight was disappointing and he could offer no further explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
PISCES – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m bumped EDITING and became unbalanced.
STAY FOCUSED – Raced wide until the 700m. Jockey E. Brown reported at scale that his mount never travelled comfortably however when placed under pressure in the home straight proved disappointing.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of mild heat stress.
BOOMTOWN BOSS – Raced wide. Near the 200m momentarily steadied when BOSUSTOWand RAIKKONEN both shifted ground.
RAIKKONEN – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that RAIKKONEN would attempt to settle with cover. Caught wide. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
RUINS OF ROME – Raced wide.
EL MORZILLO – Raced wide.
SPICY MARTINI – Dipped on jumping away.
CANDLEWICK – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide for the majority. Approaching the 500m, put in an awkward stride whilst weakening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying signs of mild heat stress.
EDITING – Approaching the 100m was bumped by PISCES and became unbalanced.
PIPERITA – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying signs of a slow recovery and a cough. Trainer S. Ryan was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.
Race 7: XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 PLATE & MAIDEN PLATE 2040 M
ARTZINO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race leaving the 1500m, shifted out and was obliged to race wide until leaving the 1200m.
FIRE AND LIGHT – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Near the 200m, bumped with CONVO. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LOVE 'N' GAMES – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 300m.
MAZIS – Made the home turn very awkwardly and became unbalanced.
CONVO – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Near the 200m, bumped with FIRE AND LIGHT. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight before shifting in abruptly approaching the finishing line and as a result was unable to fully test his mount to the line.
GOOD PHILLY - Laid in under pressure leaving the 300m obliging its rider to stop and straighten.
Race 8: WORLD POOL FOR IFHA TOP 100 G1 RACES CLASS 3 PLATE 1350 M
FLYING AURELIUS – Over-raced in the middle stages. Jockey L. Dempsey reported that in his opinion the gelding over-racing had a detrimental effect on its finishing performance. Trainer B. Lockwood reported that upon returning to the stables it was evident that the gelding had sustained a quarter crack to its off-hind hoof and would now be sent for a spell.
ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of ULTIMATE OUTCOME, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably and didn’t appreciate todays track conditions.
CARTWHEELS– Began awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer M. Hoysted advised that the mare would most likely now be spelled.
COMMANDMENT (IRE) – When asked to comment on the performance of COMMANDMENT (IRE), Jockey A. Jones stated that mare commenced to weaken from the home turn and in her opinion may not have appreciated todays racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of a slow post-race recovery.
Race 9: SKY RACING COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
GIN AND TONIC – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.
MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Raced in restricted room near the 800m.
IMPENDOR – Raced wide.
RUNWITHTHETIDE – Dipped on jumping away. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide.
BRAVELY – Raced wide.
REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – Slow to begin.
KAVAK – Raced wide. Approaching the 200m had to be steadied while weakening between IMPENDOR which shifted in marginally and CRESSBROOK which shifted out to improve.
CRESSBROOK– Raced in restricted room near the 800m. Over-raced in the middle stages. Obliged to alter course near the 300m.
Race 10:LADBROKES SRM IN MULTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1640 M

RASHFORD – Momentarily held up approaching the 250m and in order to improve shifted out and bumped ARATIRI.
ROCK HARD LOVE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. When asked to comment on the performance of ROCK HARD LOVE, Jockey A. Mallyon stated that the gelding travelled well, however peaked on its finishing effort over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CASANOVA MAN (NZ) – Hampered at the start.
BECAMO – Near the 400m, shifted out to improve. Held up in the early part of the home straight and momentarily disappointed for a run approaching the 200m.
BIAS – Began awkwardly. Near the 400m, when weakening had to be eased when crowded for room between YOU AND I and BECAMO which shifted out to improve to avoid the heels of BECAMO which shifted out to improve. Jockey T. Brooker the rider of BECAMO was severely reprimanded pursuant AR 131(a) for careless riding.
LOU VEGA – Reared at the start.
TEESANDCEES APPLY – When asked to comment on the performance, particularly in the early stages of the event where the mare appeared to lose touch with the remainder of the field of TEESANDCEES APPLY, Apprentice E. Lang stated that the mare never travelled comfortably and in her opinion may not have appreciated todays racing surface. J. Coetze, stable representative for Heathcote Racing, when asked to comment on the tactics adopted today stated that from the wide barrier, he expected the mare to settle towards the rear, which is its usual racing pattern and agreed with Apprentice Lang that TEESANDCEES APPLY may not have appreciated todays racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ARATIRI – Brushed approaching the 250m.
CLASSIQUE GAL – Began awkwardly.
SHAPE OF WATER – Over-raced leaving the 1500m and had to be steadied from heels. Improved onto heels near the 700m and shifted wider.
