GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
 
R3: J. Stanley +0.5kg (55.5kg)
R7: J. Bayliss +0.5kg (56.5kg)
 
Trainer B. Lockwood was severely reprimanded pursuant LR 36(6)(a) for failing to withdraw dual acceptor, LOVEWILLCOMELATER from one of its engagements by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer M. Renehan was fined $200 under LR 67(1) for the late declaration of A. Mallyon as the rider of TREASURER in Race 7.
 
As Jockey J. Huxtable was unable to make the allocated weight in Race 7, he was replaced as per the race day summary. Jockey J. Huxtable was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.

Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER MAIDEN PLATE         2070 M

LUCIFER THE CAT – Over-raced in the early stages. When leaving the 1600m commenced to lay out when over-racing. Ridden forward to a leading position leaving the 800m.
 
ORMOND ROAD – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SHOW 'EM NORM – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SO SUAVE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
STATE OF AFFAIRS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m before being corrected. Continued to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
KALBAR QUEEN – Brushed near the 500m and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
ZOUBLIME – Fractious prior to the start being effected, began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily raced in restricted room whilst weakening leaving the 500m.

Race 2: TATTERSALLS TIARA RACEDAY 28 JUNE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1660 M

CAMBRIDGE BAY – Bumped at the start.
 
DREAM THINKER – Raced wide until the 1000m. Approaching the 400m, was crowded and had to be steadied when LUNE D'EXCELLENCEshifted out to improve. Jockey A. Mallyon the rider of LUNE D'EXCELLENCE was severely reprimanded under AR 131(a) for careless riding.Near the 250m, after being struck with the whip, shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.
 
LUDWIG – Began awkwardly and lost ground
 
EASY LOVE – Raced wide until the 1200m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a warning would now be placed on the filly in relation to its racing manners.
 
LUNE D'EXCELLENCE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
XTRA LA VITA – Near the 250m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of DREAM THINKER, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Race 3: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP       1350 M

NORTH POLE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey C. Graham reported at scale that her mount did not settle at any stage and had a tendency to over-race.
 
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR – Slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
FIRST EMPIRE – Held up rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped SAVEUR on entering the home straight.
 
ZHONGXIN KOALA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular settling in a leading position, Jockey K. Zechner reported that it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well from an inside barrier, and a lack of pace shown by other runners, he elected to allow his mount to settle in a forward position.
 
LOCKYER – Inconvenienced shortly after entering the home straight and had to be eased wider to avoid the heels of SAVEUR when that runner was bumped by FIRST EMPIRE. Jockey M. Rodd the rider of FIRST EMPIRE was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
STRAZ DANZ – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SAVEUR – Bumped on entering the home straight by FIRST EMPIRE, which shifted out to improve.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN HANDICAP    1110 M

YOYO YEEZY – Trainer M. Hoysted was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding for being difficult to load. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 1000m, was momentarily crowded for room when DEEP VEGAS shifted in. Jockey A. Jones the rider of DEEP VEGAS was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Approaching the 600m, when racing greenly, got its head up when being steadied from heels. When questioned regarding the performance of YOYO YEEZY, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout which in his opinion was detrimental to its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the thumps and a slow recovery.
 
DEEP VEGAS – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUT OF TURN – Hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the 150m, was disappointed for a run between DEEP TIARA and FINAL VOYAGE when both of those runners shifted ground. Continued to be held up until shifting out and securing clear running approaching the 50m.
 
ROSSO LEVANTO (NZ) – Leaving the 1000m, was crowded and had to be steadied when racing to the inside of YOYO YEEZY, which shifted in and away from DEEP VEGAS.
 
DEEP TIARA – Near the 700m, shifted in of its own accord and brushed the running rail. Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m. Laid in throughout.
 
Race 5: MULLINS LAWYERS CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1660 M

FLYWHEEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISS CHENERY – Near the 1300m, had to be steadied from the heels of PIREONTI.
 
RASHFORD – Raced wide until leaving the 1200m. When questioned regarding the performance of RASHFORD, Jockey J. Huxtable reported that the gelding raced ungenerously and failed to respond when asked for an effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer C. Munce stated that he was disappointed with the gelding, however, did note that RASHFORD was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated. He further added that the stable would monitor RASHFORD’s condition in the coming days and would report back to Stewards any significant findings.
 
ADDITION (NZ) – Had to be steadied near the 1300m.
 
Race 6: QCF CHARITY RACEDAY 19 JULY CLASS 1 HANDICAP      1200 M

FOURANDAHALF – Leaving the 100m was momentarily obliged to ease when awkwardly placed at the heels of BIT OF GRUNT, which was shifting out under pressure. Apprentice C. Collis the rider of BIT OF GRUNT was reprimanded under AR 131(a) for careless riding.
 
BETTER BE READY – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Had to be steadied from heels near the 700m when over racing and again near the 600m. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
VELOZES – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer’s representative B. Cavanagh was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare in relation to its barrier manners. Near the 600m, had to be steadied from heels when over-racing.
 
CHAMPONNET – Leaving the 100m, whilst weakening was obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of FOURANDAHALF.
 
ROCKRATA – Began awkwardly and bumped with BETTER BE READY shortly after the start.
 
Race 7: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1350 M

ITZA CHARMDEEL – Over-raced in the middle stages. Steadied near the 100m when awkwardly placed at the heels of LOVEWILLCOMELATER, which shifted in and away from AFFINITY FLYER, which shifted in under riding. Jockey J. Bayliss the rider of AFFINITY FLYER was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
TARA JASMINE – Slow to begin.
 
STARRY EYES –Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported at scales that he became concerned with STARRY EYE’s action when placed under pressure and as a result elected not to ride his mount out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrythmia. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that veterinary clearance, inclusive of ECG results and a satisfactory cardiac auscultation veterinary report post gallop of at least 1000m prior to being permitted to race again.
 
BOONDOCKS – Slow to begin. Over-raced in middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FAT FINGERS (NZ) – Improved onto heels near the 250m and was obliged to alter course. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
TREASURER – Raced wide. Inconvenienced near the 100m whilst weakening.
 
Race 8: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS CLASS 5 HANDICAP         1110 M
 
HE’S HEAVEN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels near the 700m and shifted out and raced three wide from that point onwards. Brushed and taken inwards by THELWELL approaching the winning post. Apprentice S. Callow the rider of THELWELL was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
CASPERNOVA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Slow to begin.
 
SIMBU – Held up rounding the home turn. Leaving the 200m, had to be steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of DEFIANT SPIRIT which shifted in under riding. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor, the rider of DEFIANT SPIRIT was severely reprimanded under AR 131(a) for careless riding.
 
THELWELL – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CHARMING NIC – Leaving the 200m, improved onto heels and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running. Improved onto heels near the 50m and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line.
 
FEMME FATALE – Raced in restricted room over the final 50m.
