SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Eagle Farm - Race 9 - LADBROKES TOP 2/3/4 BETTING QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 METRES:
PARO – The gelding underwent a routine endoscopic examination of the upper airway on 15th July which revealed a Grade 2 larynx with no other significant findings detected.

From Gold Coast - Race 7 - STRATA COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1723 METRES:
SAN JOSE BOY – Trainer J. Bruce advised nothing came to light regarding the performance in the subsequent days and he had now sent the gelding for a spell.
 
From Gold Coast - Race 8 - GC RACING INDUSTRY AWARDS AUGUST 21 BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2227 METRES:
WATERMELON – Trainer R. Dart advised the gelding pulled up with a black eye to its near side and will continue on with its preparation.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today's meeting:
Race 8 – SUM INVICTUS – R. Wiggins +0.5kg (56.5kg)
 
Trainer A. Plumb was fined $200 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor JUNGLE WARRIOR by the prescribed time.
 
Jockey J. Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR188(c) for attempting to weigh out for race 4 with an unapproved safety vest. Jockey Lloyd was fined $1000. When determining penalty, Stewards considered jockey Lloyd’s guilty plea, record in relation to this rule and the QRIC penalty guidelines.

RACE 1: THE GIBSON COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M

WINCHMAN – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 1000m. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m.
 
SILVIO DANTE – Slow into stride.
 
OUT OF TURN – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RALOS STAR – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUCKY MAN – Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied from the heels of WINCHMAN, when that runner was taken in by BARBERRY SPUR (A. Thompson) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey A. Thompson was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 2: TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 2 AUGUST CLASS 5 HANDICAP      1350M

NATIONAL CHOICE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Near the 500m, bumped and forced wider when WEIGALL TIGER shifted out to improve.
 
WEIGALL TIGER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 500m, shifted out and bumped NATIONAL CHOICE.
 
REDZOUST – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A. Jones advised with the smaller field, she raced in a more forward position and when placed under pressure, the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Lipp advised he would report back in the subsequent days on how the gelding pulls up. Jockey A. Jones was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race.
 
SMART ACTION – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Following the running of this race, apprentice C. Collis was examined by the club doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.

RACE 3: B&T ADVISORY FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M

DEEP TIARA – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
MOANA GOLD (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start. Shifted out leaving the 100m, and bumped SONECHKA.
 
KURITHEA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped leaving the 100m.
 
TSZYUYA – Jockey A. Jones reported that her mount had a tendency to over race in the middle stages which had a detrimental effect on its finishing efforts. Trainer’s representative Mr C. Cavanough was reprimanded pursuant to AR100(1)(a) for failing to notify the change of tactics. Mr Cavanough advised Stewards that the stable may give consideration into removing the blinkers.
 
ROXSET – Slow to begin.
 
SHAMROCK'S SECRET – Shifted out at the start and bumped DEEP TIARA which shifted out and bumped MOANA GOLD.
 
SONECHKA   – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn. Near the 200m, raced in restricted room between MOANA GOLD and KURITHEA. Leaving the 100m, raced in restricted room and bumped between KURITHEA and MOANA GOLD (K. Wilson-Taylor) which shifted out. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 4: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes, when the bridle of JUNGLE WARRIOR broke and had to be replaced. The start was further delayed when MISS WANTED became fractious in the barriers. The filly was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.  
 
BRAZEN ACT – Momentarily became unbalanced near the 900m. Approaching the winning post shifted in under pressure, contacting the running rail.
 
BUTWEDID – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
DAY TO REMEMBER – Harmlessley dislodged jockey M. Savva behind the barriers and became momentarily loose. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
 
AVIOR – Trainer T. Thomas was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the filly without pre-race earmuffs. Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SHANIDAR. Jockey S. Cormack reported the filly in his opinion improved today with the drop back in distance from 1350m at its last start. Jockey Cormack recommended to trainer T. Thomas to keep the filly in races over 1200m or less. Trainer T. Thomas concurred with the comments of jockey Cormack that the filly may be better suited over this distance.
 
BOMBARD – Bumped near the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A. Jones advised the filly travelled comfortably, however did not let down in the home straight as expected and proved disappointing. Jockey A. Jones also advised the filly may take benefit from the addition of blinkers. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FROTHSAY – Trainer S. Dwyer was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider by the prescribed time. Raced wide for the majority. Near the 250m, momentarily steadied and obliged to alter course.
 
SHANIDAR – Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
JUNGLE WARRIOR – Near the 900m, laid in and bumped BOMBARD. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
QUEEN ARNI – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey J. Stanley reported the filly was inclined to lay out and raced greenly in the home straight.
 
RACE 5: EAGLE FARM 160 YEARS RACEDAY CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M

RUNWITHTHETIDE – Apprentice C. Sutherland dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
EXCEED SPEED – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
GRAMMAR LAD – Laid in approaching the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed gelding to have heat stress. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the subsequent days on how the gelding pulls up.
 
CROWN GUINEA – As jockey A. Thompson was overweight, he was replaced by jockey T. Marshall. Subsequently jockey Thompson was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
CHERISH THE DAY – Fractious before the start, began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

RACE 6: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2050M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes when TAMBOURINE MAN proved difficult to load. Trainer K. Martin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
APPLICATIONS (NZ) – Taken in at the start and bumped JUNGLE JET. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Faltered in its action when being pulled up following the event. An immediate veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a catastrophic injury to its near fore cannon. The gelding was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds and samples were taken for analysis.
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
JUNGLE JET (NZ) – Change of tactics; to be further forward. Bumped on jumping and hampered shortly after. Settled in a midfield position.
 
TAREX (NZ) – Shifted in at the start
 
TAMBOURINE MAN – Bumped on jumping. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
TEESANDCEES APPLY – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A. Jones advised the mare raced flat and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative reported that the mare would now be sent for a spell.
 
EYELEFTIT – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance jockey R. Dolan advised that the mare failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Gough was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
RACE 7: SKY RACING CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1650M

MAKE A CALL – Change of tactics; to be further forward. Ridden accordingly.
 
OUT OF ACES – Raced wide until the 1100m. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor advised his mount didn’t appreciate todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance. Trainer S. Kendrick advised Stewards he is intending to have blood tests taken from the gelding.
 
PHAROAH'S PROPHECY – Near the 900m, momentarily steadied after being crossed by TRISKELION (R. Wiggins) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey R. Wiggins was advised to exercise greater care.
 
APRIL (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
TRISKELION (NZ) – Jockey R. Wiggins advised that after being caught wide in the early stages, his mount commenced to over race and with the slow tempo, he permitted the gelding to stride forward to take up the leading position near the 900m.
 
DURBAN HARBOUR – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Dolan reported that after beginning awkwardly, he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated.
 
RACE 8: LADBROKES SRM IN MULTIS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1650M

RING BEARER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.  
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Shifted out at the start and bumped LUMENS LENNY. Raced wide throughout.
 
SAVANNAH GANGSTER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LUMENS LENNY – Bumped on jumping. When asked to comment on the performance jockey G. Cartwright advised the gelding in her opinion didn’t run out the 1650m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ADDITION (NZ) – Jockey A. Jones reported the mare peaked on its finishing efforts in the home straight which she attributed to the having not raced for nearly a month.
 
SUM INVICTUS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Commenced to be pressured from the 600m and failed to respond. Jockey R. Wiggins could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HEREDITARY (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
