GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight’s:
Race 1: B. Wheeler + 1/2kg
Race 3: L. Dempsey + 1/2kg
As rider M. McGuren was to be overweight he was replaced by S. Rutledge in Race 8. M. McGuren was fined $100 pursuant to AR 190(3).
As rider J. Bayliss was to be overweight he was replaced by L. Tarrant in Race 4. J. Bayliss was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3).
Race 3: WHO ORDERED DAFISH was declared a late scratching at 11:26am when found to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer K. Kemp was advised to provide veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race or trial again.
Prior to the running of Race 5 a Storm cell passed through near the racecourse resulting in a delay due to lighting strikes. Stewards inspected the track following this and downgraded the track to a Soft 6.
All races were put back one time slot. As a result of the delay and due to lack of sufficient lighting, Race 9 was postponed and rescheduled to the upcoming Doomben meeting to be conducted on Wednesday 30th July 2025.
RACE 1: TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 2 AUGUST QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1100 M
MISHANI EXTREME – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced over the final 150m when carried wider by BOOMSHANKA. A. Jones the rider of BOOMSHANKA was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding and advised to stop and straighten her mounts when shifting ground in future.
BODYSNATCHER – Hampered shortly after the start.
DRAGON LINK – Bumped at the start. Checked from the heels of BOOMSHANKA approaching the 800m. A. Jones the rider of BOOMSHANKA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a), in that as the ride of BOOMSHANKA, she permitted her mount to shift in approaching the 800m when insufficiently clear of DRAGON LINK, resulting in that runner having to be checked to avoid the heels of BOOMSHANKA. The licence to ride in races of A. Jones was suspended for a period of 13 Days to commence midnight Saturday 2 August 2025 and expire at midnight Friday 15 August 2025. Stewards directed this suspension to be served concurrently with another suspension incurred from another incident in this race Rider A. Jones was advised of her appeal rights. Rider D. Thornton advised that the gelding raced greenly throughout and would derive benefit from the race day experience. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BOOMSHANKA – Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
ISSY'S STAR (NZ) – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m and had to be steadied. Raced wide in the early stages. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor advised that the filly had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the nearside knee.
SWEET HESITATION – Bumped at the start. Inconvenienced over the final 150m when carried wider by inside runners.
ODE TO BEAUTY – Shifted in at the start. Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m and had to be checked. A. Jones the rider of BOOMSHANKA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a), in that as the rider of BOOMSHANKA, she permitted her mount to shift in leaving the 1000m when insufficiently clear of ISSY’S STAR(NZ), resulting in that runner being crowded and forced inwards onto ODE TO BEAUTY, which was also crowed for room and had to be checked. The licence to ride in races of A. Jones was suspended for a period of 13 Days to commence midnight Saturday 2 August 2025 and expire at midnight Friday 15 August 2025. Stewards directed this suspension to be served concurrently with another suspension incurred from another incident in this race. Rider A. Jones was advised of her appeal rights.
AUSTRALASIA – Slow to begin.
RACE 2: EAGLE FARM 160 YEARS RACEDAY BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1615 M
SKYFORGER - Raced in restricted room approaching the 1400m and had to be steadied when WEIGALL TIGER shifted in when not fully clear. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
INDIFFERENCE – Bumped with KADALL on a number of occasions in the back straight. Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SIR CARTER – Over-raced in the early stages.
KADALL – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1400m and had to be steadied when SKYFORGER was taken inwards by WEIGALL TIGER. Apprentice C. Sutherland was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Steadied from heels approaching the 800m. Rider D. Thornton reported that after being buffeted on a number of occasions in the back straight his mount failed to finish the race as expected.
RACE 3: MEKKA RACEDAY 16 AUGUST BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1615 M
HEMAN – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
COLD ONE – Over-race in the middle stages.
ROCK HARD LOVE – Bumped at the start. Obliged to alter course in the early stages of the home straight to secure clear running. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
OUR TURN NOW (NZ) – Leaving the 1400m had to be steadied from the heels of LET FLY which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester the rider of LET FLY was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
WATERMELON – Shifted at the start and bumped ROCK HARD LOVE.
CHAYSE 'N' ADAM – Bumped at the start.
PLEADEEL – Steadied from heels leaving the 800m.
JILLAROO (USA) – Raced wide until leaving the 1000m. Rider A. Jones reported that the mare travelled well however when placed under pressure in the home straight proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
PELE PRINCESS – Raced wide in the early stages.
HAYSIRI – Slow to begin.
TAKUNAI – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages.
KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 4: BRC COMMUNITY VENUES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1615 M
APUNTAR – After improving quickly to the inside of VICTORY FLAME was then checked when tightened for room approaching the 1300m when VICTORY FLAME shifted in and I’M HEROIC shifted out.
I'M HEROIC – Approaching the 1300m had to be steadied from the heels of HEAVENLY LOVE, got its head up and shifted out.
RAMP IT UP – Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
VICTORY FLAME – Raced wide throughout.
HEAVENLY IMPACT – Slow to begin.
MR O'REILLY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race wide throughout.
DRACENA – Rider A. Allen was fined $200 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i)for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
SIR GOLDALOT – Laid in under pressure near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
BOLLINGER MISS – Slow to begin. Checked from heels approaching the 1300m.
EVERYWHERE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
LARIDAE – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced approaching the 1300m. Raced in restricted room near the 200m.
RACE 5: MORETON HIRE CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 M
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer M. Hoysted to withdraw BOARD MEMBER at 2:42pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Gollan to withdraw
CERTAINLYCAN at 2:43pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Upon declaration of correct, stewards ordered all monies invested on BOARD MEMBER be refunded with following deductions to apply:
1st LEAD ME ON: 7c the win, 10c the place
2nd JOHNNY DA WOLF: 8c the place
3rd GOSPEL GIRL: 11c the place

END ASSEMBLY – Apprentice B. Wheeler advised stewards that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the rain affected track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing.
HE'S FOR THE GIRLS – Got its head up when being restrained in the early stages.
GOSPEL GIRL – Raced keenly in the early stages.
READY AZZ EVA – Raced in restricted room leaving near the 1000m.
Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to a Heavy 8.
RACE 6: U&U RECRUITMENT BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 M
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer M. Harry to withdraw ARIZONA DREAMING at 3:11pm due to the downgrade of the track.
PICKO ROCKS – Raced in restricted room near the 1900m
MENAZZI – Shifted out at the start.
BECAMO – Slow to begin. Over-raced approaching the winning post on the first occasion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing.
BENGAL BOY – Hampered at the start and lost ground.
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Steadied from the heels of THE IRISH approaching the 900m. S. Rutledge the rider of THE IRISH was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) – Bumped at the start.
SOKUDO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
THE IRISH (IRE) – Raced wide until approaching the 900m. Blundered near the 100m.
RACE 7: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1350 M
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer J. Bruce to withdraw RISE OF THE MASSES at 3:18pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Edmonds to withdraw CORFE CASTLE at 3:54pm due to the downgrade of the track.
The start of this event was delayed as a result of both SET TO SHINE and DON’T START BECOMING FRACTIOUS after being placed into the barriers. After undergoing veterinary examinations SET TO SHINE and DON’T STOP were both withdrawn on veterinary advice. Acting on a report from the starter and review of the available footage, stewards took no action against either horse.
Upon declaration of correct, stewards ordered all monies invested on DON’T STOP be refunded with following deductions to apply:
1st SUPER DUCK: 10c the win, 17c the place
2nd CASTILLIAN: 9c the place
3rd SULTRY SIREN: 15c the place

SWISS EXILE – Over-raced in the middle stages.
WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.
DEEP RESPECT – Laid in and became awkwardly placed at heels approaching the 50m and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9.
RACE 8: SKY RACING OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer J. Bruce to withdraw KAIZAD at 3:18pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer K.Schweida to withdraw METAL ART at 3:54pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Prior to the running of this race stewards acceded to a request from trainer A. Campton to withdraw LIGHT OF BOOM at 4:32pm due to the downgrade of the track.
Upon declaration of correct, stewards ordered all monies invested on LIGHT OF BOOM be refunded with following deductions to apply:
