GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 3: 12 MOANA GOLD (NZ) – J. Guthmann-Chester +0.5kg (56.5kg)

RACE 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately two and a half minutes due to ODE TO BEAUTY proving difficult to load. Trainer H. Page was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for being difficult to load.

I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field.

LILSISTERDON'TCHA – Over raced throughout the event. When passing the 800m and again passing the 600m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MADAME CODY – Jockey R. Maloney reported his mount raced greenly throughout the event, however as MADAME CODY was having its first race start, the filly would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

NORTY FORTY – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 800m when being restrained to avoid the heels of ODE TO BEAUTY which shifted in to obtain a position with cover. Carried wider on entering the home straight by READY FOR ZION which shifted out to improve.

ODE TO BEAUTY – Passing the 800m, shifted in to obtain a position with cover. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and when attempting to shift out passing the 300m, was unable to do so after MADAME CODY improved to the outside.

PEARLS IN JUNE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.

RACE 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

OCEAN ALO underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after getting both hind legs over the back of the barrier partition and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:10pm.

On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on OCEAN ALO to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - SEVEER – 5c win, 11c place.
2nd - WOOTTEN HYDE – 3c place.
3rd - GUARDSMAN – 6c place.

Trainer G. Duncan was advised OCEAN ALO would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing (lame off hind).

BOOMTOWN LADDIE – Began awkwardly.

CASTELLO GRANDE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey W. Costin reported her mount raced greenly however would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

FAMAHAN – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Bayliss reported his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing (poor performance).

KOHLER KID – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 400m when entering the home straight. Passing the 250m, was momentarily inconvenienced and became awkward in its stride after being hampered by CASTELLO GRANDE which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

TA LA MASCA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.

ASPEN COWBOY – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 800m when tightened for running by CASTELLO GRANDE which shifted in and away from TA LA MASCA which shifted in marginally. Jockey T. Brooker was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 3: SKY RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately six (6) minutes due to MAGICAL EYE requiring farrier attention to the off fore plate. MAGICAL EYE subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.

PUFF 'N' HARRY – Jockey M. Harley rider of PUFF 'N' HARRY pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for the use of his whip ten (10) times prior to the 100m (14 in total). Jockey M. Harley’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days, commencing midnight Saturday 30 August 2025, concluding midnight Saturday 6 September 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and QRIC’s Rider Penalty Whip Guidelines.

ASPIRE TO WIN – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with MARGOT'S DEEL. Near the 1300m, hampered leaving the chute on entering the course proper.

SOME STYLE – Near the 1300m leaving the chute on entering the course proper, shifted out abruptly carrying ASPIRE TO WIN out on to MARGOT'S DEEL both who were hampered.

MARGOT'S DEEL – Bumped at the start. Near the 1300m, hampered leaving the chute on entering the course proper. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m, was obliged to shift wider to improve. Jockey C. Graham reported it was her intention to settle further forward today however after being interfered with on jumping, she settled further back than anticipated.

PARISIENNE PIPER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.

MOANA GOLD (NZ) – Raced in restricted room passing the 50m to the inside of PARISIENNE PIPER which laid in under pressure.

OUR JEWEL – Passing the 800m, commenced to hang out and made the turn awkwardly. Held up for clear running passing the 300m until passing the 100m.

LADY LAZARUS – Slow into stride. Jockey N. Tomizawa was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(c) for using his whip when out of contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be making an upper respiratory noise. Trainer P. Kalinowski was advised LADY LAZARUS would require veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic scope prior to resuming racing.

WHAT ARTISTS DO – Slow to begin and lost ground.

ELROY – Passing the 600m, laid out rounding the turn.

MAGICAL EYE – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition on jumping. Co-Trainer G. Lane stated it is his intention to drop the mare back to a more suitable grade and was of the opinion that racing forward was detrimental to the horse’s overall performance and would look to settle further back in future circumstances.

RACE 4: TRACKSIDE WITH RICKY PONTING COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M

ADRANOS – Began awkwardly. Passing the 200m, was hampered and carried wider by MERCIAN which shifted out when insufficiently clear.

CHAMIERRO – Bumped at the start with WINCHMAN.

GRAMMAR LAD – Became awkwardly placed at heels when attempting to shift in approaching the 800m to obtain cover. Laid in in the early part of the home straight.

MERCIAN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MINOR KEY – Shifted in at the start tightening the running of ROCKY REWARD. Raced wide for the majority.

READY TO IGNITE – Laid in approaching the 800m.

ROCKY REWARD – Tightened at the start between runners.

WINCHMAN – Bumped at the start with CHAMIERRO. Raced wide for the majority. On entering the home straight, laid in before being corrected by its rider. Approaching the 200m, had to be steadied when tightened for room by ADRANOS who was carried out by MERCIAN which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey G. Cartwright rider of MERCIAN pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 200m, she permitted her mount to shift out under riding resulting in ADRANOS being carried out into the running line of WINCHMAN which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GRAMMAR LAD and lost his rightful running. Jockey G. Cartwright’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days, commencing midnight Friday 5 September 2025, concluding midnight Friday 12 September 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.

RACE 5: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 6 SEPTEMBER FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M

ACE'S IN BLOOM (NZ) – Shifted in approaching the 1000m bumping BUN IN THE OVEN. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

CAFE MOCHA – Slow to begin.

DIVINE SOURCE – Bumped with RAG QUEEN at the start.

ELIZABASS – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice E. Lang stated ELIZABASS which was first up today, was caught wide and in her opinion had a detrimental effect on the horse’s overall performance. Trainer H. Richardson reported the mare would derive benefit from today’s performance however would report back to Stewards on the condition of horse in the days subsequent.

EVERY HEART – Began awkwardly and bumped with VOS SAVANT. Passing the 100m, obliged to alter course after shifting out contacting ACE'S IN BLOOM (NZ).

FUNKY ME – Slow to begin.

RAG QUEEN – Bumped with DIVINE SOURCE at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Maloney stated his mount travelled fairly, however when asked for an effort, failed to respond and performed disappointingly. After the running of this race, it was noted the mare had lost its off fore plate. Trainer J. Wallace reported that on returning to the stable, RAG QUEEN coughed and as such underwent an examination by his stable veterinarian which revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg and an endoscopic scope identified mucus present. Trainer J. Wallace was advised HORSE would require veterinary clearance including the results of a clear endoscopic examination prior to resuming racing.


VOS SAVANT – Began awkwardly and bumped with EVERY HEART. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

MISS FUNNY HONEY – Began awkwardly.

BUN IN THE OVEN – Bumped near the 1000m.

RACE 6: SPRING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2050 M

JUNE – Over raced throughout the event.

TAREX (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1300m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Passing the 800m, shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder of the event.

NAGAMIE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

PUNJABI LANDING – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.

COSMIC LAD – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1350m, had to be steadied off heels.

MISS CHENERY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was disappointed for a run approaching the 250m to the inside of CELESTIAL BLAZE, and as such was obliged to shift out in an attempt to improve. Approaching the 100m, was again disappointed for a run between CELESTIAL BLAZE and SIMPLY FUN resulting in MISS CHENERY being obliged to shift out passing the 50m.

UMETINI – Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.

LUPINE (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve.

TAMBOURINE MAN – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Brooker stated she had settled further back than anticipated and that in her opinion the gelding raced flat, finishing the race off moderately.

PLEADEEL – Began awkwardly.

CELESTIAL BLAZE – Jockey J. Bayliss was fined $500 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for the use of his whip six (6) times prior to the 100m (17 times in total).

RACE 7: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1110 M

NEGOTIATIONS – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Passing the 250m shifted out to improve.

KIRIBATI – Raced wide throughout.

LUCIFER'S WAY – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey R. Maloney reported he had settled further back than anticipated and was disappointed with the gelding’s finishing efforts in the home straight. Trainer D. Vandyke reported the gelding had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and was surprised with today’s performance. He advised the gelding will be examined by his stable veterinarian and will report back to Stewards in the days subsequent. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised LUCIFER’S WAY would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

I'M ZAC – Over raced passing the 800m when being restrained.

INDUBITABLY – Momentarily inconvenienced by NEGOTIATIONS passing the 200m after that runner shifted out to improve.

KIRRAGIRL – Laid out in the home straight and approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of AIR WE GO.

RACE 8: LADBROKES PUNTERS ASSIST CLASS 3 PLATE 1350 M

JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) – Stewards approved the late application for JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) to wear a tongue tie. Stable Representative N. Boyle acting on behalf of Co-Trainers C. & C. Munce, was fined $200 pursuant to AR 206(2) for failing to lodge a gear request by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Maloney was advised to ensure he rides his mount out to the finish of the race.

READY AZZ EVA – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages.

ROYAL HARD HAT – Raced wide for the majority.

ROCK THE SUNRISE – Bounded on jumping.

TORO STRIKE – Bumped with MERCHANT LADY at the start. Momentarily inconvenienced and carried wide passing the 200m by ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) which shifted out under pressure.

MERCHANT LADY – Bumped with TORO STRIKE at the start.

OCEAN ZAR – Inconvenienced passing the 150m.

ANGEL DOWN – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Mallyon stated his mount travelled fairly and when asked for an effort, failed to respond to his riding however would derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

LITTLE JEANIE (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
