TEDDY TOO CHEAP – Hampered at the start and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of TEDDY TOO CHEAP, Jockey B. Thompson reported that his mount raced very greenly throughout the event, hanging in and out and will derive benefit from today’s racing experience. Lost its off-hind plate in running. When questioned regarding TEDDY TOO CHEAP’s performance, Trainer C. Allardyce advised Stewards that the gelding was found to be lame in the near foreleg and would be having x-rays performed in the coming days. Trainer C. Allardyce was advised that she must advise Stewards of the results and that the horse would require a veterinary certificate and official trial prior to racing again.

RACE 4: SKY RACING CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE         2040 M

The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 mins owing to REVELAIDE being resaddled behind the barriers.

CELESTIAL BLAZE – Held up rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular near the 900m, where he elected to remain on the fence behind ARGERICH and risk being held up with HEROIC REBEL and MAURITA improving to his outside, rather than shifting wider to obtain clear running, Jockey R. Hutchings explained that his instructions were to find cover if possible as his mount had a tendency to over-race and with the genuine speed of today’s race, he elected to  allow his mount to continue to travel comfortably behind ARGERICH before asking CELESTIAL BLAZE to improve in the home straight when a run presented to the inside of ARGERICH. Trainer’s representative, Mr. J. Coetze stated that the instructions were to ride CELESTIAL BLAZE positively and allow the gelding to settle where comfortable. He further added that with Jockey R. Hutchings having not ridden the gelding previously, and with it being somewhat difficult to settle, he was satisfied with the tactics adopted. Stewards noted the explanation and whilst being of the view that shifting off the fence near the 900m would have been beneficial to CELESTIAL BLAZE’s chances in the event, they were not satisfied that given the instructions, Jockey R. Hutchings actions were unreasonable given the circumstances and took no further action.

DELRICO - Blundered on jumping away.
