Saturday 25th October 2025 DOOMBEN
RACE 10: LADBROKES MEGA MULTI OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY (C & C Munce) – Co trainer Corey Munce reported that there were no apparent abnormalities found after the mare had raced on Saturday and has since been continuing its current racing preparation.
Race 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE (2070 M)
ASPIRE TO WIN Over raced in the early stages. Following the running of race 1, on pulling up ASPIRE TO WIN became awkward in its stride and collapsed, on arrival by the race day veterinarian the gelding was provided sedation, a short time later was then pronounced deceased. A postmortem sample was taken and ASPIRE TO WIN will be sent to undergo an autopsy. Stewards acting under AR 208(3)(b) Were satisfied that ASPIRE TO WIN carried its correct weight during the race and correct weight was declared on the judges’ numbers.
TOMMY THUG (IRE) Began awkwardly and bumped with NIENNA (NZ).
NIENNA (NZ) Steadied at the heels of ASPIRE TO WIN near the 700m which laid in before being corrected by its rider. Awkwardly placed at the heels of THE MESSIAH near the 400m before being corrected by its rider. Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
SEA ME DANCE (NZ) Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide and improved to the lead near the 1600m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1350 M)
Track upgrade to a heavy 8, retrospective to race 2.
SWAG Raced wide without cover until approaching the 700m. Rider reported in his opinion the gelding didn’t handle the heavy track conditions.
STABILIZER Passing the 300m, commenced to hang out, shifting out abruptly, resulting in apprentice S Callow having to stop riding on a number of occasions, placing her at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. Trainer B Baker was advised that STABILIZER would now be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to accepting for a future race. When questioned regarding the riding of STABILIZER in the home straight, apprentice S Callow reported that the gelding had a tendency to lay in, in its previous starts. She elected to carry her whip in the right hand but after STABILIZER commenced to shift out, she changed her whip hand inside the final 100m, improving the gelding’s tractability over the concluding stages. Stewards advised apprentice S Callow that she should have desisted with using her whip in the right hand once her mount commenced to shift out abruptly and straightened her mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor postrace recovery.
TINTAURA Over raced in the early stages when the pace slackened passing the 1000m.
REGAL RINA (NZ) Began awkwardly. Rider reported in his opinion the filly didn’t handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
STROMBOLI DELIGHT Began awkwardly. Rider reported that in her opinion STROMBOLI DELIGHT travelled well in the early stages, however failed to finish off the event as anticipated and proved disappointing with today’s performance.
CAESAR CAKE Stood flat footed as the start was affected and in a result was slow to begin. Trainer G Forge was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare.
ARTSPACE (NZ) When questioned regarding ARTSPACE (NZ)’s improved performance, trainer L Gough stated that the gelding had pleased in its work after coming back from a spell and was not surprised with todays forward showing.
Race 3: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BOOK NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE (1350 M)
BON VADER Bumped at the start with SORT OF IN LOVE. Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining cover passing the 800m. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey B Tompson reported that his mount was reluctant to settle in the early stages but was able to obtain cover for a short distance passing the 800m, but after failing to settle, shifted wider before being carried to a four wide position passing the 600m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ODIN'S MOUNT Jumped away awkwardly, resulting in jockey K Wilson-Taylor becoming extremely awkward in his saddle.
SORT OF IN LOVE Bumped at the start with BON VADER. Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L Gough was advised that SORT OF IN LOVE would now be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to accepting for a future race.
MISHANI WITNESS Became cast with its leg over the barrier partition after being loaded. MISHANI WITNESS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:20pm on veterinary advice. Trainer D Stanbridge was advised that MISHANI WITNESS would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards, prior to accepting for future races.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on MISHANI WITNESS to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – SHORTCUT 1c win, 4c place
2nd – NOTTINTON PRINCE 10c place
3rd – ON POINT PIXIE 6c place
Race 4: BRISBANE BRONCOS DERBY RACEDAY 1 NOVEMBER CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1660 M)
SAN GABRIEL (NZ) Passing the 1400m, momentarily inconvenienced by EASY LOVE which was attempting to hold its position to the to the inside, as a result, SAN GABRIEL (NZ) commenced to over race for a short distance.
EASY LOVE Bumped with DOINGITEASY on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
CAPTAIN EAGLE Laid in near the 800m. Rider reported that in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate the rain effected racing surface.
DOINGITEASY Bumped with EASY LOVE on jumping. Over raced in the middle stages.
BERTUS Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m and when attempting to shift out to improve, was disappointed for a run between EASY LOVE which shifted out.
Race 5: SKY RACING COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 M)
RUINS OF ROME Got its head up when being restrained shortly after the start. Rider reported that he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ABENDER Approaching the 100m, was obliged to shift out when placed on the heels of NORTH POLE which shifted out under pressure.
GORBACHEV Began awkwardly and bumped with ABENDER. Over raced in the middle stages. Contacted the running rail near the 800m. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
NORTH POLE Began awkwardly.
Track upgrade to a soft 7 at 3:35pm.
Race 6: XXXX GOLD FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 M)
MEHRETU Over raced in the middle stages of the event. Awkwardly placed on heels for a short distance passing the 200m.
DAZZLING DIAMOND had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 100m.
SEQUEL Over raced in the middle stages of the event.
Race 7: SENQ CLASS 5 HANDICAP (1660 M)
GALANO Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Passing the 1300m restrained after improving onto heels. Held up for clear running from near the 500m until inside the 150m.
HEREDITARY (NZ) Buffeted shortly after the start between GALANO and AMERICAN PHIREBALL. Lost its off-fore plate in running. Rider reported in his opinion the gelding raced flat in today’s event and may benefit from a spell. Trainer T Hurley advised stewards that HEREDITARY (NZ) would now be sent for an immediate spell.
AMERICAN PHIREBALL Over raced in the middle stages. Inclined to lay in, in the straight.
RING BEARER Had its tongue tie re fitted at the barriers.
Race 8: LADBROKES RACING EXTRAS IN MULTI CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1350 M)
HELL AND BACK Held up for clear running from inside the 500m until inside the 200m.
ELLIBABY Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider reported that in his opinion, ELLIBABY didn’t handle today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ONE BEAT NO BEAT Trainer D Vandyke advised that it would be their intention to ride ONE BEAT NO BEAT further forward in today’s event. Shortly after the start, momentarily steadied when ELLIBABY shifted in. Passing the 1100m raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of ELLIBABY which was attempting to shift in to obtain cover. Momentarily steadied from heels rounding the home turn when BOOM SHOT shifted out onto ELLIBABY, which was taken out onto DIAMOND EPIC. Jockey R Maloney was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted in today’s event, J McMurray stated that it was his instructions to be further forward in today’s event. However, after missing the jump, he opted to let the mare settle where comfortable.
POWER ACE Rider reported that the mare got quite worked up pre-race and wanted to hang in severely in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer representative C Kavanaugh was advised that POWER ACE would now be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to accepting for a future race.
POCKETMONEY Began awkwardly.
