GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:

Race 7: Jockey M. Harley +0.5kg (56kg)

Stewards accepted the reason Apprentice J. Williams was unable to make the allocated weight in Race 2 and Race 7 and he was replaced as per the race day summary.

Trainer C. Maher was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of J. Guthmann-Chester as the rider of ZASZOU in Race 7.


Race 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 PLATE 1350m

CLEAR PROOF – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) – Commenced to over-race passing the 1000m after being crossed by SUM INVICTUS.

LAND BANK – Hampered on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MOONAN QUARTZ – Began awkwardly, lost ground and then was hampered. Passing the 1100m had to be steadied when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover.

SUM INVICTUS - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

AUTUMNGIRL – Bumped on jumping away.

CREATIVITY MISS – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that CREATIVITY MISS would attempt to settle more forward. Ridden accordingly – settled midfield. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. After the running of this race, CREATIVITY MISS became fractious in the tie up stalls. A veterinary examination revealed superficial wounds to the mare’s poll. Trainer J. Mason was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

MISS BUSSLINGER – Approaching the 100m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of CREATIVITY MISS and lost its rightful running. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester the rider of CREATIVITY MISS was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that in vicinity of 100m, he allowed his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of MISS BUSSLINGER which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chesters’s license to ride in races was suspended for 11 days commencing midnight 30th November and concluding midnight 11th December 2025. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SHOW ME THE STARS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped AUTUMNGIRL. Raced wide throughout.

SILVER WEDDING – Passing the 900m when the pace of the race slackened commenced to over-race. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.

Race 2: SENQ BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 2020m

STEEL BLAZE – Jockey H. Van Der Hoven reported after being trapped wide in the early stages, he permitted his mount to stride forward to take up a leading position rather than being caught wide. When questioned regarding the performance of STEEL BLAZE, Jockey H. Van Der Hoven stated that after leading today’s event, his mount commenced to weaken on straightening and was disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer B. Lazzarini was advised that veterinary clearance, inclusive of ECG results and a satisfactory cardiac auscultation veterinary report post gallop of at least 1000m would be required prior to being permitted to race again.

SOCIAL OUTCAST – Raced wide without cover throughout.

MANNERHEIM – Had to be steadied off heels on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

THINKHARDANDFAST– Lost its offside winker shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped THROTTLE RESPONSE, resulting in THINKHARDANDFAST’s hindquarters being turned inwards and momentarily became unbalanced. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.

BIG TICKET BOY – Passing the 1600m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.

AROUND THE BUOY (NZ) – Raced wide from the 1000m. Jockey M. Harley dropped his whip near the 350m.

AMAHNI'S GIRL – Bumped shortly after the start, having its hindquarters turned outwards and as a result AMAHNI’S GIRL momentarily became unbalanced and lost ground. Disappointed for a run when attempting to improve passing the 600m.

GREY NORTHERN (NZ) – Passing the 1400m, bumped on a number of occasions with AROUND THE BUOY (NZ) when attempting to maintain a position one off the rail. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and passing the 100m when attempting to shift out, became awkwardly placed on heels for a short distance.

THROTTLE RESPONSE – Began awkwardly and was bumped shortly after the start. Inclined to lay in throughout the event.


Race 3: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BOOK NOW CLASS 3 PLATE 1615m


EL PENSADOR – On entering the home straight, was disappointed after attempting to improve into a run to the inside of LITTLE JEANIE (NZ), which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and as a result, passing the 200m, EL PENSADOR was obliged to steady and lost ground.

FELIX THE SCAT - Raced wide.

GORBACHEV – When questioned regarding the leading margin in the early stages, Apprentice J. Franklin explained that when attempting to steady after obtaining a leading position passing the 1200m, GORBACHEV commenced to over race and rather than restrain his mount to come back he allowed his mount to stride forward and settle in a comfortable rhythm.

PERFECT PLAY (GB) - Raced wide.

TAMBOURINE MAN – After today’s disappointing performance, Trainer K. Martin was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding.

PRINCE LEVI – Passing the 300m, when attempting to shift into a run where there was insufficient room to do so, had to be checked and lost significant ground. Jockey L. Tilley was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing his mount to shift into a run where there was insufficient room to do so.

ZOUNA– Raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

LITTLE JEANIE (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

POCKETMONEY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.

After the running of this race and showers passing through the vicinity of the racecourse, Stewards downgraded the track to a Soft 6 at 1:06pm.

Race 4: SKY RACING CLASS 6 PLATE 1350m.

CORFE CASTLE – When attempting to shift out passing the 500m to improve, bumped with NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY on a number of occasions before shifting back to the rail.

OUR MAGNUS – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, Apprentice J. Williams explained that his intentions were to settle in a forward position with cover, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward to take up a leading position, rather than being caught wide without cover.

CHIEF WITNESS - Prior to the running of this race Stewards acceded to a request from Co. Trainer C. Munce to withdraw CHIEF WITNESS at 1:08pm due to the downgrade of the track. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on CHIEF WITNESS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

1st SPACE TRACKER(NZ) 18c win, 16c place
2nd AOUR MAGNUS 20c place
3rd NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY 12c place

Co. Trainer C. Munce was advised CHIEF WITNESS would incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 6 or worse.

NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY would attempt to settle more forward. Settled accordingly. Near the 500m was bumped on a number of occasions by CORFE CASTLE which was attempting to shift out to improve.

HEYOKA – Over-raced in the middle stages.


Race 5: CRICKS HIGHWAY FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP
1200m


PIERATA'S GEM – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.

DREAM SMART – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

HEESEN – Apprentice J. McMurray was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finishing line.

JUNGLE LAW – Passing the 1000m commenced to over-race after improving onto heels.

BALANCE THE BOOKS – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 900m. Raced wide with cover throughout.

GALPIN – Bumped at the start.

BENGAL DIAMOND – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GALPIN resulting in BENGAL DIAMOND losing ground and then being hampered. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Cast its off-hind plate.

KILONOVA – Passing the 1000m had to be restrained after improving onto heels when the pace of the race slackened.


Race 6: XXXX COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP
1200m

SER JOH – Passing the 600m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.

SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion Trainer M. Hoysted was advised SHOT OF WHISKEY(NZ) would be stood down from racing under AR79 (4).

FIRST MISSION – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 100m by SER JOH, which shifted in under riding. Apprentice J. McMurray was advised to exercise greater care and stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.

LUMBER PUNK – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

MEAN APPROACH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 200m was momentarily inconvenienced by MORE TROUBLE (NZ).

THE LUCKY ALIEN – Laid out rounding the home turn. Passing the 150m, commenced to weaken when racing in restricted room.

FISTSOFFURY – Began awkwardly and bumped MORE TROUBLE (NZ).

MORE TROUBLE (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Near the 200m, had its hindquarters turned after contacting MEAN APPROACH when attempting to shift out.

NOW IS THE HOUR – Over-raced during the middles stages and passing the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto heels.

EXTREME DIAMOND – Began awkwardly.


Race 7: EUREKA STUD TATTERSALL'S CLASSIC 1200m

ZASZOU – Raced wide without cover.

EL MORZILLO – Blundered at the start and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of EL MORZILLO, Jockey C. Graham stated that after beginning awkwardly and then being caught wide EL MORZILLO failed to respond when asked for an effort in the home straight and proved disappointing in its finishing effort.

HEARTS ARE BETTER – Jockey D. Thornton reported at scale that in his opinion the mare failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SUNSET DREAMING – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of SUNSET DREAMING, Jockey A. Jones stated that the mare raced flat and, in her opinion, may appreciate further distance than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DIRTY DANCING – Bumped with FRENCH ENDEAVOUR on jumping away.

FRENCH ENDEAVOUR – Bumped with DIRTY DANCING on jumping away.

SURPRISE HONEY – Jumped away awkwardly after having its head turned in the barriers and as a result was slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance of SURPRISE HONEY, Apprentice E. Lang stated that in her opinion SURPRISE HONEY may not have appreciated today’s soft track conditions.


Race 8: TATTERSALL'S RECOGNITION STAKES (WEIGHTS RAISED 0.5KG)
1350m

Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R. Stewart, the rider of the 4th placed HATCHET to view the official video footage. After doing so and electing not to lodge an objection, Stewards declared correct weight on the judges’ numbers.

CIFRADO – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start. Laid in in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion and also be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer R. Lipp was advised CIFRADO would be stood down from racing under AR79 (4) for 3 months and must officially trial, jump out or gallop 1000m satisfactorily, in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. In addition, CIFRADO would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of a satisfactory ECG test, before again racing.

OUGHTON – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ROCKRIBBED – Began awkwardly.

POUNCE (USA) – When asked to comment on POUNCE (USA) Jockey A. Mallyon stated that he could offer no explanation for the mares disappointing performance.

COCO JAMBOO (IRE) – Slow to begin. Raced wide.

TUFF TU MUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 150m, laid in contacting BOOMTOWN BOSS, resulting in the gelding becoming awkward in its stride. When asked to comment on the performance of TUFF TU MUS, Jockey T. Brooker stated that the gelding travelled comfortably over early and middle, however weakened over the concluding stages and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke advised Stewards that he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.

BOOMTOWN BOSS – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Passing the 600m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 250m. Passing the 150m, was brushed by TUFF TU MUS which laid in and shortly thereafter shifted out and away from SWISS EXILE resulting in BOOMTOWN BOSS again bumping TUFF TU MUS.

HATCHET – Began awkwardly. Shifted in shortly after straightening, becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of TORABELLA, which shifted out marginally. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 50m.

AT WITZ END – Raced wide.

Race 9: LADBROKES MEGA MULTI BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 1615m

NAVAL SEAL – Slow to begin.

LOST HIS BEANS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormnalities.

LUDOVISI – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Passing the 400m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of the weaking ELLA TE AMA and was obliged to shift out to improve.

NAILS MURPHY (IRE) – Began awkwardly.

VORACIOUS – Laid out in the early part of the home straight.

NOBLE CONQUEROR – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.



Race 10: DES LAMBART MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1110m

CASPERNOVA – Slow to begin.

FIND YOUR OWN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrythmia. Trainer S. Morrisey was advised that the gelding would require a satisfactory ECG report of more than 60 seconds at rest and a satisfactory cardiac auscultation to be performed within 15 minutes of completing a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards prior to racing again.


THE ASTRONOMER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped APUNTAR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Lee was advised that following today’s disappointing performance, THE ASTRONOMER would be required to officially trial prior to racing again. Trainer S. Lee reported that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

APUNTAR – Bumped at the start.

BOSSED UP – Passing the 200m became awkward in its stride before laying out over the concluding stages.
