Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 5: 10 LOVE ON SUNDAY – L. Guernier +1kg (56kg)
Race 6: 11 ACRODANCE – M. Rodd +0.5kg (55.5kg)
As Jockeys R. Dolan and C. Collis were not riding due to injury, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockeys R. Dolan and C. Collis were advised they would require medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
Following submissions made by Trainer R. Heathcote, PRINCE OF BOOM (Race 8) was declared a late scratching at 1:54pm due to the track upgrade. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised an embargo would now be placed on PRINCE OF BOOM restricting the gelding not to race on surfaces rated a Good 3 track or better.
Race 1: SKY RACING OPEN HANDICAP 2000 M
RED WAVE – In the early stages, laid in. Leaving the 1600m, when attempting to obtain cover, commenced to over race and had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Passing the 150m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of WARP SPEED when attempting to shift out to improve into clear running.
DIABLO BOLT – Contacted the barrier partition on jumping. Jockey A. Jones reported her mount raced flat and failed to respond to her riding over the final 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and the thumps.
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start.
WARP SPEED – Raced wide throughout.
SPEYCASTER (GB) – Hampered shortly after the start.
NAVAL COMMISSION – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
FAROOQ – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
THE IRISH (IRE) – Laid out rounding the home turn and continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey C. Graham stated her mount over raced and may not have appreciated todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed heat stress.
Race 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1350 M
SPANISH FOX – Blundered at the start. Raced wide for the majority.
MINTAKA LAD – Over raced in the early stages and approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Dipped shortly after jumping.
BOLD COMIC – Raced wide for the majority.
CHIEF WITNESS – Raced wide for the majority.
COSMO CENTAURUS – Bumped at the start. Entering the course proper passing the 1300m, was severely hampered and carried wider by KODIAK which shifted out abruptly. Over raced in the early stages and approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels. Jockey D. Moor reported his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and when placed under pressure, commenced to weaken and felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame near hind. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised COSMO CENTAURUS would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing. Trainer R. Heathcote reported that following today’s performance, it is his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
KODIAK – Shifted out at the start and bumped COSMO CENTAURUS. After the running of this race, it was noted the gelding had lost its near fore plate.
HELLA FAST – Shifted out on jumping.
ALECTRONA – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported when a run eventuated in the home straight, her mount failed to quicken as expected and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The Munce stable was advised to report back on the condition of ALECTRONA in the days subsequent.
FINE SHOT – Slow to begin then tightened for room shortly thereafter. Over raced in the early stages and approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels.
AFFINITY FLYER – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly thereafter. Entering the course proper passing the 1300m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of COSMO CENTAURUS who was carried out by KODIAK which shifted out abruptly. Over raced in the early stages and approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels. Continued to over race for a significant distance and passing the 800m, again had to steady off heels.
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 3 at 1:02pm.
Race 3: XXXX COUNTRY STAMPEDE (FINAL) NO METRO WINS LAST 2 YEARS 1110 M
SUNNYCOAST – Shifted in under riding at a point approaching the 200m.
INVAHIR – Raced wide for the majority.
DEHORNED UNICORN – Raced wide for the majority.
WRITTLE – Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.
KING JESTER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide for the majority.
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Raced wide for the majority.
SMILING ZAC (NZ) – On entering the home straight, obliged to shift in to obtain clear training. Shortly after straightening was carried in by SUNNYCOAST which shifted in under riding and at a point approaching the 200m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SUNNYCOAST (R.S. Olivera) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. As a result, SMILING ZAC (NZ) was obliged to shifted out across the heels of SUNNYCOAST to improve into clear running. Jockey R. S. Olivera rider of SUNNYCOAST pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that at a point approaching the 200m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in SMILING ZAC (NZ) having to check to avoid SUNNYCOAST’s heels. Jockey R. S. Olivera’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of fourteen (14) days, commencing midnight Tuesday 9 December 2025, concluding midnight Tuesday 23 December 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
SOOPAT – Bumped on jumping and carried inwards. Raced wide with cover.
SEA COMMITS – Approaching the 700m, steadied from the heels of YOUR TOO GOOD. Raced wide for the majority.
MAGICAL SLIPPER – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground.
TURNSTAR – Slow to begin.
YOUR TOO GOOD – Approaching the 800m, laid in and steadied from heels when racing wide.
GALEKA – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m, was obliged to steady when tightened for room between MAGICAL SLIPPER and INVICTUS LAD both who shifted ground. Jockeys H. Richardson and C. McIver were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 4: MORETON HIRE BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600 M
The start of this race was delayed approximately four (4) minutes to allow the running of an interstate race.
YET HE MOVES – Near the 1200m, obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of WAPITI which shifted in. Jockey M. Du Plessis was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. Shifted out and bumped with ARCHER'S GAME passing the 1200m.
KEITEL – Slow to begin. Apprentice J. Franklin reported his mount failed to travel and in his opinion, has come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short. Trainer D. Vandyke reported that following today’s performance, it is his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
GANBARE – Raced wide until leaving the 900m.
WAPITI – Shifted in near the 1200m.
KORUTO – Approaching the 100m, obliged to alter course and shift in to improve into clear running.
NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley stated his mount failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion, didn’t appreciate todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ARCHER'S GAME – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped near the 1200m. Leaving the 1000m, was obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Obliged to shift in on entering the home straight to improve into clear running.
HYDE PARK – Laid in throughout the event and near the 800m brushed the running rail.
Race 5: CRICKS HIGHWAY COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE (FINAL) NO METRO WINS LAST 2 YEARS 1600 M
SKYFORGER – Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer P. Webster was advised SKYFORGER would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
DIVINE OKAY – Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer L. Manzelmann was advised DIVINE OKAY would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
FOR VALOUR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
DEVIL KICK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was subsequently cleared to start. Near the 1400m, carried in and inconvenienced when LOVE ON SUNDAY (App L. Guernier) shifted in. Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice T. Fenlon reported her mount may have not appreciated todays track conditions.
HEYINGTON STATION – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with SKYFORGER.
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Raced wide for the majority.
SCORCHED LAND – Restrained from the wide barrier. Raced wide for the majority.
ODEGAARD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the rail on leaving the mounting enclosure and was subsequently cleared to start. Near the 1400m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of DEVIL KICK who was carried in by LOVE ON SUNDAY which shifted in. Apprentice L. Guernier rider of LOVE ON SUNDAY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 1400m, she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DEVIL KICK (App T. Fenlon) resulting in that runner being taken inwards and steadying to avoid heels. ODEGAARD (N. Olzard) which was trailing subsequently had to be checked to avoid the heels of DEVIL KICK and lost its rightful running. Apprentice L. Guernier’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) days commencing midnight Saturday 13 December 2025, concluding midnight Friday 19 December 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
Race 6: CRICKS HIGHWAY PHELAN READY 1110 M
ITCHINTOGO – When over racing, shifted out approaching the 600m.
TRAMCA – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly thereafter. Pulled very hard in the early stages. Weakened over the final 150m. Jockey M. Harley reported his mount raced keenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer C. Munce reported that following today’s performance, it is his intention to send the colt for a spell.
FAIR SHAKE – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
KICKUP ROCKY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SNITSKA – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Obliged to steady shortly after the start when awkwardly placed between runners. Raced wide for the majority.
MAGRITTE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
JOLAYNA DASH – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
ACRODANCE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with MAGRITTE. Over raced in the early stages when attempting to be restrained to obtain cover. Jockey M. Rodd reported the filly raced flat which may be due to its short back up.
BOLLENTE BELLA – Bumped on jumping.
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS PIERATA PLATE 1200 M
DAMIEN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed heat stress.
NINJA – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted in approaching the 800m. Improved onto heels near the 200m before shifting in.
TORQUE TO BE SURE – Slow to begin. Near the 800m, steadied from the heels of NINJA which shifted in after being crowded by FABULANTES (D. Moor). Jockey D. Moor was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Passing the 100m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of NINJA (A. Adkins) which shifted in under riding. Jockey A. Adkins rider of NINJA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 100m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in TORQUE TO BE SURE (A. Mallyon) to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey A. Adkins’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven days, commencing midnight Saturday 13 December 2025, concluding midnight Wednesday 24 December 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
FABULANTES – Shifted in near the 800m.
LOCKYER – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
WOOTTEN HYDE – Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.
WAYBURN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 150m, shifted in as DAMIEN shifted out under pressure, resulting in WAYBURN contacting the hindquarters of DAMIEN and being hampered. Jockey T. Berry was advised to stop and straighten his mount when shifting ground.
Race 8: LADBROKES GEORGE MOORE STAKES 1200 M
CABALLUS – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted in particular in leading today’s event, Jockey T. Berry stated he initially expected to settle in a position just off the speed however after beginning well and being trapped wide in the early stages, he allowed his mount to stride forward and take up a position in the lead. Stewards accepted the explanation.
HIDDEN WEALTH – Over raced in the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 250m.
IT'SOURTIME – Slow to begin.
LUBRICATION – Laid in near the 900m.
TAVS – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Huxtable stated in his opinion, the gelding did not appreciate todays track conditions.
EPIC PROPORTIONS – Brushed the running rain near the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice T. Fenlon stated the gelding was disappointing and in her opinion did not appreciate todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed slow recovery, thumps and to be stepping short.
BOOM TORQUE – Began awkwardly. Brushed the running rain near the 900m when placed in restricted room to the inside of LUBRICATION which laid in. Raced keenly approaching the 600m and was steadied.
Race 9: WIDDEN STUD MODE STAKES 1200 M
FOREIGN PRESS – Bumped on jumping with SWEET PRETENDER. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
KICKUPHIGH – Begin awkwardly and lost ground.
HI BARBIE – Raced wide for the majority. Near the 100m, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
MAKING NEWS – Shortly after the start, became awkwardly placed on heels, was steadied and bumped with ERNAUX. Over raced in the early stages. At a point passing the 900m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to alter course approaching the 150m to improve into clear running.
ERNAUX – Shortly after the start bumped with MAKING NEWS. Over raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home turn until the 100m. Near the 150m, was inconvenienced when attempting a run to the inside of HI BARBIE which shifted in before being awkwardly placed on the heels of SYLPH which shifted out slightly.
CHAMPAGNE LANE – Slow to begin.
SWEET PRETENDER – Bumped on jumping with FOREIGN PRESS.
SEQUEL – Over raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
SYLPH – Bumped on jumping with FABULEAN. Hampered shortly after the start when FABULEAN (S. Cormack) shifted in. Jockey S. Cormack was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Over raced in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened.
FABULEAN – Bumped on jumping with SYLPH. Over raced in the early stages.
Race 10: CBT CITY TO SURF 3YO (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE) 1600 M
JOHN DORY (NZ) – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MR WORTHINGTON – Blundered on jumping. Passing the 1100m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
NOTTINGTON PRINCE – Over raced in the middle stages.
LYNEHAM – Restrained from the wide barrier.
VANDEVELDE – Bumped on jumping.
NIGHTLINE (NZ) – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1000m. When questioned regarding the improved performance, co-trainer M. Sears stated the filly in its last start was trapped wide and over raced and in her opinion, performs better when ridden off the pace.
HIDDEN FUTURE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
STATE OPERA – Began awkwardly, bumped with VANDEVELDE and lost ground. Passing the 1110m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Over raced throwing its head up for the majority of the event.
KRUMAC – Steadied from heels near the 1400m. Passing the 1100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MR WORTHINGTON who took hold of his mount whilst over racing. Approaching the 700m, again had to steady after improving onto heels. Laid out rounding the home turn.
