GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 3 – STEIN – M. Harley + 0.5kg (55.5kg)
Race 7 – LIVALITTLE – R. Maloney + 0.5kg (56.5kg)
 
 
Race 1: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP 1660M

KOJAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Maloney could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TAP HIGH – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding TAP HIGH leading today’s event, jockey M. Du Plessis advised that from wide barrier he elected to allow the gelding stride forward to take up the lead rather than being caught wide.
 
GAS BRIGADE – Raced keenly in the early stages.

HIGHLAND KITTY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey C. Collis reported the mare may not have run out the 1600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
AMELIORATION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Disappointed for a run leaving the 100m, was obliged to steady and shift out.
 
KOBABILITY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT EAGLE FARM 20 DECEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M

DUST CLOUD – Near the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced when tightened for room by WOOT WOOT which was carried in by ADORABLE THOUGHT which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey R. Maloney advised the gelding which was having its first start, will take benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ENJECTOR – Held up on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider near the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
FORGING AHEAD – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ASTERN EFFORT – Began awkwardly and bumped with TASSORATI.
 
MISHANI PRINCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
YOUMEANDDUPRE – Raced keenly whilst racing in restricted room near the 1000m. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley advised the gelding weakened when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stable representative reported that consideration would be given to dropping the gelding back in grade and distance but advised that they would report back to Stewards if anything may come to light in the days subsequent.
 
ADORABLE THOUGHT – Raced wide throughout.
 
WOOT WOOT – Began awkwardly and bumped with OUR BRAVE LINI. Raced in restricted room near the 600m. Raced greenly throughout.
 
CASSIA COUNTY – Raced wide until the 800m.
 
RED SAMOVAR – Passing the 1000m, when the pace of the race slackened, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of WOOT WOOT. From the 600m until passing the 400m was awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening WOOT WOOT.
 
OUR BRAVE LINI – Began awkwardly and bumped with WOOT WOOT. Inconvenienced near the 900m.
 
TASSORATI – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT EAGLE FARM 20 DECEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M

SAN JERONIMO – Raced wide throughout.
 
HELLO CAPTAIN – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
BLENHEIM GIRL – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
LILSISTERDON’TCHA – Raced wide without cover throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M. Du Plessis advised the filly, which was first up would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow recovery.
 
STEIN – Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages. Near the 900m, became awkward in its stride for a short distance.
 
GOLDEN NOTRE – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Brushed the running rail near the 500m.
 
CITY BOUND – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: CBT CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1660M

PERFECT PLAY (GB) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LAST CHANCE SALOON – Began awkwardly.
 
HEMAN – Slow into stride. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M. Harley advised that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. He added that the gelding didn’t feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-Trainer C. Munce confirmed it is the intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
CAPITAL ASSET – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
NOBLE CONQUEROR – Began awkwardly and was steadied from heels shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 5: SENQ CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1350M

BEWS – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ITALIAN RIVIERA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
THE LITTLE PUMPER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
 
GIVING DELIGHT – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 6: XXXX CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350M
 
HOT MAJESTY – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300m, steadied and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the winning post.

JEMOMA ALPILAGE – Slow into stride and bumped shortly after. Raced wide throughout.
 
NORTH POLE – Began awkwardly and bumped with JEMOMA ALPILAGE.
 
BARRELLING – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MOONAN QUARTZ – Began awkwardly.
 
ROMANTIC BUBBLE (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and passing the 250m, shifted in and bumped SPIRIT OF NURAI. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Guthmann-Chester advised the gelding travelled well however failed to let down when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Trainer M. Kelly advised it is now the intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
SUM INVICTUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPIRIT OF NURAI – Held up for clear running from the 300m until leaving the 200m and was bumped by ROMANTIC BUBBLE near the 250m.
 
SHERAQUAY – Raced wide throughout.
 
SUMMIT – Slow into stride.
 
INVISIBLE TARGET – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS CARNIVAL SOON BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2070M

DILLIAN (IRE) – Raced wide until the 1300m. Shifted out to improve leaving the 900m and raced wide from that point onwards.

UNCOMMON VALOUR – Slow into stride.
 
DON'T DISS AROUND – Jockey J. Huxtable advised it wasn’t his intention to be that far forward, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he permitted his mount to stride forward to find a position closer to the rail.
 
SAN GABRIEL (NZ) – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1500m when DON’T DISS AROUND improved to its outside.Jockey D. Moor was reminded of his obligations to fully ride his mount out to the winning post.
 
OUTBURST – Raced keenly near the 1300m, improved onto heels and shifted out.
 
EVELYN MAY (NZ) – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and shifted in to obtain clear running on the entrance to the home straight.
 
KAFFIR LILY – Bumped on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Jockey J. Bayliss was reminded of his obligations to fully ride his mount out to the winning post.
 
THROTTLE RESPONSE – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIVALITTLE (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and leaving the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Leaving the 900m, again improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 8: LADBROKES MEGA MULTI BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200M

TWYFORD – Slow to begin.

UNSTOPABULL – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the turn near the 800m. Held up for clear running entering the home straight. Near the 300m, obliged to shift out to improve and was held up shortly thereafter until passing the 200m before shifting in and obtaining clear running over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
AMUSEANTES – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 250m until the 200m.
 
BENGAL DIAMOND – Held up for clear running from the 200m until the 100m.
